Amanda Seyfried would only chop off her hair for a good part in a movie

instylehair

I know you guys think I give Amanda Seyfried a hard time. Sometimes I don’t give people enough of a chance, I know. Maybe I overreacted to what I saw as Amanda’s snotty, Paltrow-esque statements like “I sacrificed six years in L. A. I did my job out here. I made the contacts and did the work I had to do… I feel lucky it wasn’t longer.” Oh, and this one, on how she feels about signing on to romantic comedies: “It’s hard because they pay a lot of money. Sometimes, when you want to buy an apartment in Manhattan, you gotta do one or two. But in most cases you don’t need to be doing them—there are enough action flicks to keep you busy.”

So I’m going to write about Amanda’s appearance on the new (?) issue of InStyle Hair. I love that InStyle thought they needed to devote a special edition of their magazine just for hair. I like looking at hairstyles as much as the next girl, but let’s mix it up with some fashion and makeup too! So, Amanda is the cover girl, and on InStyle’s site, this is the sole quote they have from her: “I would chop [my hair] all off for a movie, but the role would have to be worth it.” Because she’s Jennifer Aniston now? Like when you think of famous hair, you think “Amanda Seyfried”. NO, I said I was going to be nice. But don’t you get the feeling that Amanda is a legend in her own mind?

Anyway, here’s more from the interview, courtesy of People Mag:

What is Amanda Seyfriend and Dominic Cooper’s secret to a successful long-distance relationship? Racking up lots of frequent flier miles, of course, but the actors also depend on their computers.

“We Skype,” Seyfried, 24, tells InStyle Hair on newsstands Friday about her U.K.-based beau. “It’s boring, but it’s true.”

For the actress, who admits “there’s nothing easy about” a long-distance relationship, and her Mamma Mia! costar-turned boyfriend, talking to each other with a webcam has become so ritual, “We don’t even sit in front of the computer,” she says.

“The other day, I was cleaning, he was cleaning,” she recalls. “We couldn’t see each other – we were just scrubbing away and talking like we were in the same room.”

But when the two do want to get in some real face time, they hop on planes, though it’s not always easy given their busy schedules.

“I worked hard in 2009, but it didn’t seem that hard,” she tells the magazine. “I spent two months in London with Dominic. I shot in Verona, Italy, [for Letters to Juliet]. I mean, how hard is that?”

So is Seyfriend a sucker for Cooper’s English accent? “To be honest, I don’t even notice it anymore,” she says about her boyfriend of three years. “It was really sexy at first – and I still find it so attractive on other British men – but I’ve been with him now for so long, I don’t hear it. He’s like an extension of me.”

[From People]

What’s the fun in having a skeezy British boyfriend if you’re not around to f-ck his brains out and listen to his accent? That’s the only reason I’d date a skeezy Brit. And trust me, Dominic is a skeezy Brit – who has been rumored to be romancing several ladies while he and Amanda are apart. But she sticks with him for some reason. Maybe she really is trying to be the new Gwyneth? Only Dominic seems a lot cooler than Chris Martin, honestly. Let me put it this way: I have nightmares about Chris Martin’s bug eyes lunging at me and attacking me, and when I hear Dominic speak, I think “Oh, a skeezy little pocket-sized Clive Owen! Yum.” Big diff.

I’m a bit biased, cos I looove Amanda (Mean Girls! Veronica Mars! Her singing!), but you *are* a bit hard on her. 😛

I don’t think the hair comment had anything to do with her hair being her selling point or anything. She just likes it long, and would only cut it for a great role. Not that weird, really.

  2. Johanna says:

She likes her hair. GET OVER IT ALREADY!

  3. Janeth says:

I can’t stand this pretentious chick. Her eyes bug me. Yikes!

  4. Katya32 says:

I stared at her hair all through the movie Chloe. Both it and she were (and are) beautiful!

  5. Macheath says:

    You’re totally reaching now, Kaiser.
I think she just likes her hair the way it is.

  6. Vi says:

ugh give over! most women with long hair wouldn’t cut it without a really good reason. and she has lovely hair anyway.

  7. Rachel says:

Legend in her own mind? Because she wouldn’t cut her hair unless it was a really good part? I don’t think anyone in Hollywood would cut their hair unless it was for a good part. Your bias against this girl is getting ridiculous!

  8. Ruby Red Lips says:

I agree – not really a story, I bet most women wouldn’t chop their hair off willy-nilly unless a really good reason.

Still think for a Hollywood starlet she is really grounded and down to earth which is a refreshing change

    Love Amanda!

  9. Tash says:

Don’t say “skeezy Brit” like Brit is an insult too. *offended*

  10. anon says:

She’s pretty but i agree with a commenter about her eyes.. They sort of bug me. Maybe b/c they seem so cold. Not b/c they are light blue either, i can’t out a finger on it:)

I have long hair, takes forever to grow so i sort of relate to her not wanting to part with it. I ENVY those girls with cute shorts cuts b.c it takes confidence and i know it’;s easy to hide behind your hair. I heard someone say this is more of an american thing, not sure about that but i know i feel that way.

Just saw CHLOE- OH how bad! Really awful movie. Made me ask the question ‘Why don’t you get a new agent Julianne Moore?!? You are better than that:)’

  11. Obvious says:

i like her but I’m so with you about Dominic Kaiser. Have you seen him in History Boys? I love him. however that being said I’ve also fallen in love with Craig Horner who looks like Dominic’s younger Australian brother.

  12. Karine says:

The interviewed probably asked “would you ever cut off your hair?” what was she supposed to answer “what are we talking about my hair, it’s not like I have famous hair! geez!”. THEN you would have called her rude and unthankful. Personally, if I was a celebrity and was sold I would be the cover of In Style Hair, i wouldn’t say no. And she does have good hair.

  13. freckles says:

Wow Kaiser, you are seriously twisted in the head if you think that’s what she meant. I have long hair and I wouldn’t cut it even for a great movie role! I just love having my hair this length and when I used to wear it short I just felt not like myself. It took me like 2 years to grow it back out and I’m not willing to do that again. I can’t blame her for feeling the same way, it’s just a personal preference not some bitchy comment! And anyways her hair is SO gorgeous, it was easily the best part of going to see Dear John. I couldn’t keep my eyes off it the whole movie and was set on asking my hairstylist to cut my hair just like that, lol 🙂

  14. Lola says:

Kaiser save your engery on saying your negative opinions about Amanda. Some how in the last 9 monthes she has become every girl under 30 best friend. I bet in a year she will become America sweetheart.

    Not sure why.

  15. Alice says:

I think Kaiser is totally right. I just don’t like Amanda and that’s that. Dominic is sexy but in a bad boy kind of way. He’s the fun one night stand kind of guy. She’s Sandra and Elin in the making.

Also, people with long hair who have had long hair since they were kids – get a haircut! It’s great!

  16. anon says:

I love her hair she should keep it this way forever, and the colour is perfect too, I wonder if it’s natural… I think it may be natural since it’s so healthy

  17. kim says:

I want to like her, but after watched that retarded movie Chloe I’m thinking she really can’t act very well.

    pretty girl, bad actress.

p.s. she should never cut her hair, it’s what makes her pretty to look at. Short hair looks like shit on most women, people just say it’s cute because they don’t want to hurt other’s feelings.

  18. Iris says:

I think she’s arrogant and has no right to be. She’s not that good an actress, and her best role to date was as a dumb sl*t in Mean Girls i.m.o. But she does have pretty hair.

  19. Brooke says:

Absent all her other asstalk, the statement would be more innocuous and less open to Kaiser’s dissection. Even though I have waist-length hair and would never cut it (resultant of a traumatic haircut from my older brother when I was 4 years old) I agree that it is hard not to read her words and be reminded about what a f-cking entitled, overrated brat she sounds like when she opens her mouth.

And whatever is wrong with her eyes seems to be reflected in her boyfriend – their facial structures are so similar they look like they could be related; same eye/brow shape, same mouth and jawline, similar ears even. Scary.

  20. lisa says:

she and dominic have the same facial proportions. i think they like “looking in the mirror” when they make out! 😉

  21. Bee says:

I think Amanda and Dominic might have an arrangement. They may just be like, when we’re together we’re together, and when we’re apart we’re apart. I think there’s a very real possibility she knows he sees other women and ok with it because they have a long distance relationship. Kate Hudson was very blase about the idea of her husband potentially being with other women, because he was always touring. But, those two did eventually break up so who knows.

  22. KateNonymous says:

I can see why she wouldn’t cut it capriciously. She’s got gorgeous hair. As for her eyes, Mr. Nonymous says, “She’s like an Elf-Bug, but she is a cute Elf-Bug.” And that’s what he calls her now. We drove by a billboard for Letters to Juliet and he said, “Look! Letters to Elf-Bug!”

I guess I haven’t read that many interviews with her. I have heard that she was frustrated with her storyline (or lack thereof, this season) on Big Love, and I can understand that. Her rom-com vs. action movie comment sounds like it was meant to be funny, though.

  23. Seri says:

Kaiser—seriously. stop hating on this girl. there are plenty more A-holes out there to chomp at. My friend who worked on-set while she was there said she’s actually really great in person, down-to-earth, giggly, fun, doesn’t take herself seriously at all, and I’ve always believed it too.

  24. Confuzzle says:

Playing an idiot in Mean Girls was pretty much the extent of her range.

  25. Ana says:

I would feel the same way about my hair. Not only do I love it and get compliments on it, but I think I would look weird with shorter hair. I don’t think I have the bone structure and it would make my face look fat.

  26. Camille says:

I think she’s a pretty girl who *does* have very gorgeous hair, but yeah she is starting to give me a bit of a Gwyneth Paltrow vibe. Still, I don’t hate her for it. She doesn’t annoy me like many other starlets do.

  27. Mistral says:

“What’s the fun in having a skeezy British boyfriend if you’re not around to f-ck his brains out and listen to his accent? That’s the only reason I’d date a skeezy Brit.”

    Amen to that! 🙂

  28. John DOe says:

    I’ve watched this girl “act”.
Her hair will eventually reach the ground.

  29. itzbilebitch says:

    her boyfriend is so sexy!!

  30. whocares says:

    Ughhhh, Kim get over yourself.

  31. Fair says:

Anyone who says crap about her is just jealous. She is gorgeous, talented, and people who say bad things probably envy that.

  32. I understand how people feel about Amanda Seyfried she has got a beautiful long natural golden honey blonde hair yes I do know the colour of her hair. You have to be careful what you say about Amanda she might be defended. I am the big fan of her she is gorgeous girl she wants to keep her hair long and I am growing my hair long not blonde though.Sophie Sheridan plays Amanda Seyfried on Mamma Mia a daughter of Meryl Streep plays Donna Sheridan. Please don’t ask me what Mamma Mia is about you can watch it yourselves and you will know exactly what I mean. In my fantasy they are my prefect family and three hottest men of Hollywood are my husbands but it is in my fantasy and fantasy world. Don’t ask trust me.
