  3. focusing on this prostitute is another example of liberals/CNN/the new york times attempting to spin this disgusting scandal. the more the news outlets discuss her identity and lifestyle, the more focus gets taken off spitzers lawbreaking. who she is, why she has this job, what she wants in life…none of this is important.
the focus needs to stay on spitzer and criminally prosecuting him to the fullest extent of the law. (and stripping him of his law license)

  8. Yes Riz, let’s just clump all those dispicable liberals into one stereotyped pile.

By the way, sorry I wrote before that Bill Clinton never got impeached. I was confused about impeachment and aquittal versus conviction. He was impeached but aquitted, so I’m sorry I went off on my tirade last post defending him.

  9. ‘It is the latest hunting ground.’ ‘DC Madam’ comments on Spitzer scandal 12 Mar 2008 Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so-called DC Madam, shared her thoughts on the Spitzer scandal with CLG on Wednesday. Ms. Palfrey said, “Without question in my mind, escort and adult service businesses – which cater to high-powered and influential clients – are being used as the new weapon of choice in American politics. It is the latest hunting ground.”

  10. ‘Many of you are mentioning President Clinton’s impeachment in 1998 as similar to this story, and it has some common themes of infidelity and betrayal of public trust by a high-ranking government official.’ –Yeah, too bad Spitzer didn’t start an illegal war or waterboard anyone - then he’d be free and clear. Only GOPedophiles are allowed to roam free.
    Cheers,

  11. To speak with a poster somewhere else:

We have a president that spent the country’s largest budget surplus ever, lied to everyone to get us into a war, killed upwards of a million people including 4000 Americans, maimed hundreds of thousands of people, ran up hundreds of billions of dollars in debt and we’ll end up spending upwards of 3 trillion dollars in all, considers torture acceptable but only if Americans do it, considers illegal wiretaps OK… and I’m supposed to be upset at a governor that paid too much money to get laid????

I was confused at first by the scandal (it’s not been covered in so much detail here) because I thought he paid for his indiscretions with government budget. If it was his own money, then no matter how classless and morally wrong, it’s a private matter in my book.

  15. Wow, she is so cute!

However, I don’t see what war or GOPs or liberals have anything whatsoever to do with this guy who placed himself as a “moral watchdog”, yet was a sex addict who defamed and degraded his marriage and entire extended family. I feel sick for his poor wife.

Sorry, but that dumps ALL his credibility in the shitpile in my book. But one important thing — at least he fucking admitted it, unlike somebody else we know …

Julianne is right. Politicians should walk the talk.

  16. julianne is right, of course and it’s a fucking embarrassment but then any GOP pedofile/male prostitute loving/propositioning in the airport bathroom crook would still be denying and hanging on to his office (and salary). At least this piece of s* paid for it out of his own money.
Clinton’s affair (or rather a BJ here and there from a more than willing and consenting female) was nothing compared to what our “moral” president has been doing to us and the entire world for the last 8 years. So let me use the same words again so that the “moral majority” obsessed with sex lives of their politicians finally gets it:
We have a president that spent the country’s largest budget surplus ever, lied to everyone to get us into a war, killed upwards of a million people including 4000 Americans, maimed hundreds of thousands of people, ran up hundreds of billions of dollars in debt and we’ll end up spending upwards of 3 trillion dollars in all, considers torture acceptable but only if Americans do it, considers illegal wiretaps OK… and I’m supposed to be upset at a governor that paid too much money to get laid????

  17. Did you guys miss the part about how Spitzer broke the law? That’s the difference between this and the Clinton-Lewinsky affair. So yeah, we do have lots of other problems, but that doesn’t mean that a high-ranking public official who broke SEVERAL state and federal laws should be allowed to slip under the radar. It’s no longer a private matter when you break the law, then it’s public record.

  18. The SPitzer/Clinton stories are nothing alike! I never even thought of CLinton when this story came up! I thought of Senator Larry Craig. They’re both hypcocrates, crusading against one thing while quietly doing it in private. It’s like See’s rallying against chocolate or something. How could anyone compare this to the Clinton thing?

  19. This girl is attractive and somewhat educated and intelligent. As I said, I have a friend who got into this lifestyle during grad school. I was horrified then, and I’m horrified now. It doesn’t have anything to do with morals or the legality of prostitution either. I just don’t understand why a woman with everything going for her thinks that the best she can do to support herself is to fuck strangers for money. So many women (myself included) bust our asses our entire lives to support ourselves by being strong, smart, and capable, and demand that our male peers take us seriously. Women like this destroy that hard work. It makes me fucking sick. Get off your back, close your legs and get a job, you silly little bitch!

  20. @minx - agreed that Bush’s crimes are much worse for the world, no question. This is a celebrity gossip site and a sex scandal is right up our alley. Of course Bush should have been impeached ages ago for lying to start a war. There is no question in my mind. Clinton was brought up by several people in the other post, and he did have his own sex scandal that was much milder in comparison, but the guy was impeached for it and that’s why I brought it up.

No it isn’t. This girl’s criminal actions are directly connected to this case. No one is trying to “spin” Mr. Sitzer’s actions. They have been widly condemmed by both conservative & liberal media outlets. Not every issue is partisan, geez

  23. ugh, I too, mr. T have to step out. I find it really difficult to believe that so many people do not understand how the political process in this country works, what is legal, what is not, what is impeachable and what is not.

It really is a shame when more people could tell you the details of Ashton Kutcher’s career and personal life than what the process is for going to war and what our elected officials’ responsibilites are.

I am sick and tired of every problem in this country being attributed to the Bush Administration when there is an entire congress and senate that have done nothing but focus on how to get themselves reelected and be the darling of their damn party. There is plenty of blame to spread around and as long as we keep blaming the president, nothing will ever get accomplished.

Neither Bush nor Clinton are fully responsible for the messes during their administrations and every time people blame them it gives a free pass to the nearly 400 or so idiots in office who are just as culpable if not more so.

  24. headache - regardless of whether or not the president is fully to blame for things that go wrong during his presidency, he is still the leader of the nation and I’m of the opinion that it’s part of his job to take responsibility for everything that happenes while he’s in office. Yes, Congress is partly to blame, but they are not the face of our nation - the president is.

  25. granted, i was horrified when the spitzer scandal initially broke, but now that it’s dragging on and on and on, with people getting shriller and shriller and shriller, it’s like give it a break.

and no, i don’t think it’s worse for a good man to do one bad thing, than for a bad man to do a lifetime of bad things. according to that theory, if we can’t be saints, it’s better to throw all our ethics and morality away.

can’t believe i’m defending an idiot, even a little bit, because i agree that it was sleazy and moronic. but on the other hand he didn’t kill anyone, he didn’t rape anyone. let’s keep a little perspective here. (but if mrs. spitzer wants someone to hold him while she whacks him upside the head, i’ll gladly volunteer!)

Is this the only way a woman can make a decent living today? Are we all nothing but prostitutes? Maybe all of us should start charging every man for sex–even our husbands?

  35. Jeremy Stringer:

The likes of Clinton and Spitzer may indeed be remembered by some for their sexual indiscretions instead of their meaningful and lasting achievemtns, with seemingly so many so willing to cast judgement. However, it might be that the ’silent majority’ - people all too aware of their own humanity and fallibility - actually do remember the achievements, while the indiscretions become less meaningful over time amd seen as more of a shame, really.

  36. Might be, but my deal is simple: I’m no prude, but I just can’t stand a lying cheater, or guys who disrespect their wives who truly know better, knowing if they got caught what a horribly embarrassing mess it will make of their lives and families for a long while, but just do it anyway because they wanted a fucking bj by a coworker, hooker or complete stranger. This is very irksome.

If that guy then intentionally lies about something like that — really makes me wonder what the hell else really big things they’ve intentionally lied about. Ergo, I ain’t trusting that person. Fooled me once, shame on you, fooled me twice …

So the intentional lying is going to stand out in my mind more than anything else, but that’s just me, I guess. Few else seem to think flouting your marriage vows is a sign of distrust, but I sure as hell do, from past experience. Sad, really that we have reached such a state of disposable marriages and “who cares-they all do it” attitudes. That doesn’t make it right.

If she gets her career, little girls will grow up wanting to be like her and doing the VILE things she did. I say we burn her and the b*st*rd ex-governor.

  39. How hypocritical our society is. We love hookers (I sure do), take absurd risks to seek them out, pay them astonishing fees, and disport ourselves silly with them if no one is looking. Yet, when one of us is hooked by our ridiculous laws, the person is demonized, and the press becomes so sanctimonious that I want to vomit. Hell’s bells, mates, let prostitutes work. Leave ‘em alone if you don’t want to partake of them. CC
