Maybe she just likes to keep her life private :) And hey Dave was asking her about her citizenship repeatedly so… what do u expect? Wow she looked stunning on the show.

I loved Arrested Development. Great smart funny show. Miss it.

She is an uneducated pretty face. Why would anyone think she would be interesting.

I remember reading interviews with her from years back when that famous South African bluntness made her sound desperately conceited – so it does sound like she’s toning it down.

But I do get what she says about the weight-loss thing, which is similar to why some people decide to change features through plastic surgery. I used to think “I would love to be XXX weight, then I’d look better, be more attractive, thing’s would be better.. blah blah” But apart from some clothes sitting better, the underlying stresses and issues with food, the opposite sex and self image hadn’t been dealt with and I gained it all back again.

she may have chosen to reference weight because it seems like 95 percent of american women have obsessed about it at one time or another. doesn’t matter if we’re 350 pounds or 83. it’s not right and we may acknowledge it intellectually, but the little voices still inundate most of us with wishful thinking of what our lives would be like if only. . .

hmmm, she seems fine to me, not boring, just not annoying and high-pitched and over the top. She actually seemed somewhat intelligent and even laughed good-naturedly when Dave totally undercut the message of her movie by asking how she got her legs so shiny. I was bummed though, when I read once that she was more honored (or happier?) to be named sexiest woman alive than to have received the Oscar… maybe she’s not so smart afterall.

She strikes me as genuine and not out trying to make poeple like her. Unfortunately in our society women have to be self deprecating wishy washy people pleasers. She’s just honest. She cuts the shit. I love Charlize.

P.S. SNAPPYFISH- Yeah, so…. uneducated=boring??? How ostentatious of you.

I disagree. I saw her and thought she was cool, classy & funny. she is a great actress and has a longtime relationship. You are just into shipwreck celebs that are out of control. sorry, she is above that!

Hey in hollywood it’s considered a compliment to be boring. People say that about Robert De Niro in interviews too. The best actors are boring in interviews and leave that mystery. The ones that try so hard to be cutesty and charming are fake and annoying actors. Charlize keeps it real.

And she’s actually really hilarious and doens’t take herself too seriously. And also anyone should know exactly what she was saying with that weight analogy. Don’t be so sensitive and insecure to take offense to seomthing like that. Seh never said Sexiest woman alive was a better honor than winning an Oscar. You misquote her. She joked about the Harvard woman of the year honor.

She’s funny, classy and beautiful and an amazing actress and she’s got a great personality everyone who works with ehr says so and she’s shown it in lots of other interviews it’s just Letterman is the one who is a boring interview who asks her only boring questions and can’t even concentrate because he’s so focused on her great beauty. So blame Letterman not charlize. Charlize rocks.

This whole conversation is hilarious to me. I have a friend who is a PA on her new movie with Will Smith and she says Charlize is totally bulimic. She binges at the Craft Food services and is magically thin. That doesn’t come naturally people.

  13. Jamman says:

It’s a great observation that her lack of personality may make her a better actress, and ditto that concept with DeNiro.

Of course, it hasn’t worked with Vin Diesel.

I sense her being somewhat sophmoric and trying a touch too much to come across as smart.

But, she seems nice enough and everynow and then she can stun you with her good looks. Overall, a decent chick.

She’s always seemed a little bit “off” to me. Never really liked her and never been able to put my finger on what it is.

I think I have a deep suspicion that she’s a complete fake with little sincerity but I’ve no evidence for that, just a suspicion.

I cant believe you people! Just because the girl is beautiful, successfull, has great legs and whatever else and you cant fault her….she’s boring? Why is it that people have to look for something NASTY, otherwise, there’s just no FUN!!! Please people, wake up! Celebrate your lives, celebrate yourselves, if you look deep enough, you’ll find it! Let Charlize bask in her golden light, thats HER journey. And believe me, she has a price to pay for it! All you bitches, coming at her all the time!!! Lighten up, stop sitting around looking for misery! Today’s journalists should learn that that there are more worthy things to write about. What kind of a world do you want your kids to inhabit!!!

The reason why you find Charlize boring is maybe because you are boribg yourself – I detect a hint of sour grapes here!
