@ Scott F: The jokes you’re referring to have more to do with the fact that those husbands were ANCIENT and not so much about the actual age-difference between the two.

Anyhoo, more importantly, Why are we still talking about Natalie Imbruglia when she is still referred to as the ” ‘Torn’ singer”? That song came out 10 years ago. Does she have anything else?

on no no no. There is a TOTAL double standard. Douglas catches shit because he is 30 YEARS older than his wife. Guys who date women ten years younger is considered normal and that is Bullshit.

I love it that she is dating him. Maybe men can catch a glimps at why we think it is noteworthy that 35 year old men date 22-23 yr old women all the time and think its fine. I know that I’ve only been asked out by men (other than one guy) who are 8-20 years older than me since I was 16. I always wondered when I was in my teens and early twenties why they wanted to date a child.

It’s the “onlooker” who said Natalie was talking about meeting him in the Arctic. ’cause you don’t need to train like mad beforehand or anything *rolleyes*

I call the “onlooker” for being a moron who interpreted a conversation that probably went something like, “I’d love to go to the Arctic – see the aurora borealis. Maybe I’ll catch up with you there *wink wink*” as a serious statement rather than an obvious joke.

Or maybe they REALLY misheard the convo and they meant meeting up at an Arctic Monkeys gig?

Mind you, I call BS on the whole lot. Everyone looks like they’re besotted with the person you’re talking to in a noisy club.

Just wanted to add that having said what I just did above, I still find this relationship far less creepy than the likes of Lilly Allen and her ex. It never ceased to amaze me that hardly anyone seemed to find that relationship a little odd, so maybe men do get away with more in some respects.

Yeah, because I’ve never heard a single joke about Michael Douglas needing his wife to change his diapers, or heard a single criticism of J. Howard Marshall II for marrying Anna Nicole Smith.

As a matter of fact I would say the opposite is true. When it’s an older man he’s a cradle-robber, when it’s an older woman she’s a ‘cougar’ and ‘empowered’. “How Stella Got her Groove Back” much?
