Madonna’s only ever been good at one thing: marketing herself.

And if she really wanted to shock people and be different, she should have posed for the cover of her new album in a turtleneck and slacks, demurely sipping a cup of tea in some English garden. Laughing at herself.

What she did instead is TIRED.

I read somewhere (can’t remember exactly, think it was in some British pub) that Madge and Guy were planning a renewal of marriage vows ceremony.

I think he’s sticking around because he loves the kids and doesn’t want to break up the family, Madonna needs him to keep her grounded, and also he’s gotten accustomed to being mega-wealthy.

She was great in her heyday, but, I agree, her time has come and gone. She comes across as a real hypocrite, considering what she allows her kids to do and not do. So maybe it’s time she lives up to the type of life she expects her children to live, retire and be a good role model for your children.

I think Madonna has reached the point where she always seems to be trying too hard. That album (producers, cover, new look) is perfect proof for that I think.

I used to like Madonna, but that sort of stopped after her Ray of Light album. That was the last good one she released, in my opinion. The following ones were too Kaballah and too trying to be young and hip without being young and hip.

It’s also true that Guy and M’s marriage has been plagued by rumours of a break-up almost since the day they got married. I have no idea or presumption as to what is currently going on there, just one thing to say: I wish Guy would dump her already. She is smothering him and his career, that’s gotta hurt a man’s ego. I wish he would dump her, get joint custody of the kids and then finally make a good movie again. It’s such a shame that a talent as big as his should be strangled by Madonna’s omnipresent ego. It never seems like they need each other anyway.

Yeah, I hate to be “age-ist” but she’s gonna be 50 this year so I think it’s time to stop the S&M/Kink angle. It’s starting to look like desperate. Time for a new angle. There is more in this world than sex. That said, I don’t think she should retire! That’s ridiculous! Some great songs on her last album and I think she should keep going as long as she wants. If you disagree, don’t buy her album!

Kevin, you are absolutely right. It’s over, Madonna, please retire and go away. She may be a great businesswoman, but I have never liked her image; I don’t think she did people like Britney any favors.
