Did Robert Pattinson lose the hotness when he cut his sparkly hair?

Here are some new photos of Robert Pattinson on the set of his new film Water for Elephants. Is it just me or does he look… not hot? Not really gross or bad or anything, he just looks totally young, average and un-sparkly. He cut his hair for the role, so I guess he can’t really carry that bird’s nest Edward Cullen hair with him to every role. It’s a shame. Because the messy hair seems to have held his hotness. Anyway, Pattinson recently spoke to USA Today, and they’ve released two little teaser quotes from the interview:

On his role in Remember Me: “I’ve never played a present-day kind of normal guy in anything. And so I was kind of interested in doing that.”

On his role in Water for Elephants: “It’s set in the Depression era, when circuses traveled by train and this guy runs away and jumps on a train to be a hobo and by accident, he doesn’t realize it’s a circus train. He becomes part of this world because he has no life to go back to and ends up falling in love with the ringmaster’s wife, played by Reese Witherspoon. The ringmaster just happens to be kind of a schizophrenic as well. He’s a most charismatic and terrifying person. He’s Christoph Waltz from Inglourious Basterds. I did a read through yesterday with him. He was sitting right next to me. It was a little terrifying.”

[From USA Today via Rob Pattinson Blogspot]

Christoph Waltz seems like one of the sweetest guys in the world, so I have no idea what Rob is talking about. Although it’s probably terrifying for Sparkles to work with several people who can act circles around him. Wait… can Reese Witherspoon act circles around Pattinson? Let me think… yes, she can. Just because she hasn’t made a really good movie in a while doesn’t mean she can’t act.

By the way, I really think Pattinson is trying to prove to the world he’s more than just a broody vampire in general. He seems to want to prove himself as, like, his generation’s Marlon Brando or something (note to Twihards: Brando was once the ideal actor, the actor who other actors wanted to be). Allegedly, Pattinson has told his reps that they should be looking for a Broadway play for him to do. According to CBS News, Pattinson said, “Stage work is something that I want to do as soon as I get a window… it’s what I trained to do and what I really miss. I am open to any offers play-wise for here or Broadway. I love the mix of stuff [Daniel Radcliffe] has done in his career, always pushing the boundaries and stuff like that. I also envy his stints on stage; he is a great actor.” Pattinson wants to be Daniel Radcliffe?!? Hm.

I dunno. I kind of think he looks better. Not so skeezy.

  2. Carrie says:

He looks cleaner- which is funny considering he is covered in dirt and dust.

  3. PrettyTarheelFan says:

The only picture where he looks remotely attractive is the one with him smiling and leanding back. In the “brooding” picture, he looks unattractive. But…I also don’t buy him as Edward Cullen, so perhaps I’m disenchanted by “Sparkles” no matter what he has on his head.

  4. Ruby Red Lips says:

He no longer looks hot…agreed, very ordinary in these shots

But I think he is a great brooding vampire

  5. orianne says:

    he gained hotness

  6. Aspen says:

I think he looks WAY better. Didn’t think he was anything particularly special before, but he’s fine now. I guess I’m just used to men with short hair, so I’ve come to prefer it.

  7. DoMaJoReMc says:

    @ orianne and Aspen:

I totally agree with you. I thought he was pretty ‘nothing’ before (IMHO), but now he definitely spikes the hotness meter!

  8. bagladey says:

I never understood the Robert Pattinson hype because he’s not an attractive guy but now with less hair his need for a nose adjustment is more apparent.

  9. Dorothy says:

I read this book and it is SOOOOOO flipping depressing! I can’t even imagine putting myself through watching the movie.

I agree that he looks better.

  10. Pleister says:

    He was never hot, so.
You can’t lose what you don’t have.

  11. CIdee says:

    Better. Older and hotter.

  12. mary simon says:

Rob once said his hair is 75% of his performance and he was right. He looks much better with his wild pompador – the whole rebel without a cause look suits him. He doesn’t look good with short hair, or when his hair is not styled. Stick with what works!

  13. Bella Mama says:

ooh, definitely better now, no doubt

  14. Boombeeba says:

Hes really cute in the 2nd picture! The one where he’s laughing with the midget….

  15. Maritza says:

I never thought he was handsome in the first place.

  16. Vee says:

He’s a great looking guy, no matter the hair style. And I think the guy can act. His sad movie, Remember Me, he did a credible job.
The cast of Water for Elephants is amazing, looking forward to it!

  17. Donna Wingfield says:

    I’m with you, Pleister!

  18. Kitten says:

    Not gonna lie-I’d hit it!

  19. vic says:

    Handsome. Beautiful bone structure.

  20. Nibbi says:

    gorgeous

it’ll suck if he really does go the Brandon route and get all fat and bloated tho, god that could suck to watch

  21. a says:

i still like that he has a young stephen fry’s face/nose!

  22. Michelle says:

Oh my god he DOES look like stephen fry in the first pic! I think it’s the puffy shirt making him look less hot, plus the puffy pants up to his armpits.

  23. missmilly says:

Thumbs up! Boy, he’s a busy guy.

  24. Abby says:

He looks great! I don’t think he’s that hot with white skin and long hair… especially in Twilight. But he looks good with short hair. I loved this book– he’ll be perfect. Re: terrifying Christoph Walz, the ring master is evil and disturbing in the book, so maybe he was talking about reading through the script?

  25. a says:

first time i saw “vesty mcsparkles” i thought, oh man… that’s stephen fry from the “footlights” era!

i’d take stephen’s personality and wit any day!

  26. Feebee says:

I think he looks better now, not necessarily hotter as I didn’t think he looked hot before.

He makes you smile though doesn’t he, especially when he says he’s never played a present-day guy (I’m looking at his costume thinking, I don’t think so), then goes on to tell us this movie’s set in the Depression, LOL.

  27. meme says:

of course he’s terrified of Christoph Walz. Walz can act, Sparkles cannot.

  28. vic says:

Terrifying as in intimidated by the guy’s experience and acting skills. RP is 30 years younger but will probably get better with age.

  29. Beth says:

I love the new haircut. If possible, he’s even hotter.

  30. mr. stinky fishface says:

Much Much sexier. I actually find him attractive now instead of disgusting.

  31. JS says:

This was one of the best books I read last year. Really excited for the movie – great cast. Love Reese and Christoph. Could take or leave Pattinson though – he really doesn’t do it for me.

  32. Luci says:

    mmm, when was he hot?

  33. Mistral says:

Some actors don’t look right when in certain period costumes–like they just don’t fit with the era. I think he really fits! He is not out of place in those clothes/this story at all. He looks cute in the pic where he is leaning back and smiling.

  34. Milan says:

he looks like less of a tosser.

  35. fugly says:

    the answer is yes.

  36. alexandra says:

Robert Pattinson is a douchebag. yuk!!

  37. erika says:

I agree with many of you — he looks BETTER without the vamp-mop. I never thought he was particularly good-looking before (except as Cedric 🙂 Water for Elephants is a great story, and hopefully the movie will do it justice. Also, hopefully Pattinson can ditch the Cullen-typecasting and have some sort of meaningful career.

  38. Kelbees says:

Much MUCH hotter with the short hair.

  39. Cindy says:

No. Sparkles is still pretty hot.

  40. gg says:

He needed to branch out and quit doing the trendy haired vampire crap anyway.

  41. Brittney says:

He looks like Ben from If I Can Dream.

  42. Charissa says:

Oooh, I love the shorter hair! He was adorable in The Goblet of Fire and this hair sort of reminds me of that.

  43. chris says:

    Still looks awesome to me.

  44. anon says:

    Never. Had. Hotness.

Do not want, do not like, do not get the appeal of this kid.

  45. Camille says:

The movie sounds interesting, definitely something I would watch. And I like the new hair cut, he looks clean for once.

  46. liz :) says:

    I don’t find him attractive
    but neither ugly
    but I have to disagree
    this look is better than
    the “tormented-painful Edward Cullen” look

  47. GatsbyGal says:

He finally looks his age, it’s about damn time.

  48. fizXgirl314 says:

    looks like Chandler..

  49. My2Cents says:

Water for Elephants… I love that book. I have read it about 5 times and every time it is better. I can’t wait to see it.

  50. Jillian says:

I like him soooo much better with short hair. Harry Potter, and now this.

Twilight and everything associated with it sucks.

  51. toob says:

He looks like a sparkly John-Boy Walton.

  52. Diva says:

Was hot, is hot, will always be hot. {=0)

    JMO {=0)

  53. Naomi says:

    When was he ever hot?
