Bill Zwecker at the Chicago Sun Times recently ran a piece about how even very minor D-list celebrities are being advised by publicists to avoid “Celebrity Rehab” for fear that it will ruin their careers. While the publicist quoted was careful to say that host Dr. Drew isn’t a total quack, I don’t think it helps at all that he consistently makes asinine armchair diagnoses for celebrities like Lindsay Lohan. He even recommended that loved ones plant drugs in her car in order to get her help.
There are questions about the future of Celebrity Rehab in light of the fact that the show is having trouble signing anyone willing to air their problems for a brief taste of bitter fame. Tila Tequila is all over that, though, and has signed up to be the first faux-celeb to participate. She’ll probably experience Twitter withdrawal and try to compensate by walking around set nude:
Tila Tequila is finally seeking professional help — TMZ has confirmed through multiple sources that the bisexual reality star has committed to do the next season of VH1′s “Celebrity Rehab” … if it doesn’t get canceled first.
It’s unclear what personal demon Tila will try to conquer with the help of Dr. Drew — but it certainly won’t be her addiction to attention.
But there’s one major catch — as we previously reported — VH1 is having problems finding other “celebrities” to rehabilitate … and if they don’t find a cast quick, the show could be killed.
So far, no word on who else the show has its sights set on.

I guess the good news is that Tila Tequila is probably the kiss of death for that show. Any long gone American Idol top 25 finalists drowning their sorrows will be hesitant to sign on when faced with the prospect of dealing with her drama. Let’s see – get paid for rehab and have to contend with Tila Tequila or remain in obscurity and continue performing for peanuts? It doesn’t seem like much of a contest.

Didn’t even read the article, but I want to comment on her appearance. Does anyone find it disturbing that people like Tila and Shakira bleach the shit out of their hair and wear blue contacts? Shakira looked great with her natural eye color. Everyone seems to end up blonde.

I have been in denial regarding the very relevant opinions that Dr. Drew might be a fame whoring quack. I even had a lovely conversation with a real LA substance abuse therapist/rehab center owner, who was surprisingly “mum” about Dr. D. I stuck by his side, thinking he might have the only carrot to dangle in front of these people who desperately need help.
But the entire Kari Anne Miss USWhore situation turned my stomach, and now the TTequila thing- Ugh. I am done with Dr. Drew.

I agree sashavice not only Shakira’s look but her music was so much better 10 yrs ago before this Lobo/skanky turn. Referencing the article, you mean even a z-list celebutard like Tila has a “career” that can be ruined by appearing on Celeb Rehab. The only question I have is are there enough cleaning products in the US to disinfect all the chairs after Tila is done sitting on them when her therapy is over? Call the Hazmat team pronto!

She certainly needs help since it’s obvious she is using “fame” and her desperate quest for it for something. She needs therapy. This is just going to fuel her particular issue fire.
I can’t stand this little…thing, but if she got some real therapy and went on to shut up and find some true lasting happiness in life, I think all of us would be better for it. We wouldn’t have to hear about her dumb shenanigans and she wouldn’t feel the need to pull them.
