Meh - I liked The Darjeeling Ltd. although it is supremely wordy even for a Wes Andersen film. It wasn’t bad but didn’t have the quirky joy of other Andersen films, and was more similar in tone to The Squid and the Whale which Andersen produced.
The fact is that The Darjeeling Ltd. was never going to be a blockbuster, populated as it is by thouroughly narcissistic characters, with a funeral as its turning point and Wilson almost playing against type.
That said, Andersen could direct Wilson reading the Yellow Pages (the phone book being reserved for Brendan Gleeson and Michael Caine) and I’d probably enjoy it.
Now where films do REALLY badly is where they’re not released to the press beforehand.

Do you know, if Owen Wilson fixed his nose then he would look quite handsome. Besides, if he actually has broken his nose the he really needs the plastic surgery.

Noooooo save the wonky nose!

my brother was standing next to me begging me to play the trailer… he wants to see it so id say the intended audience is definately teen boys lol!
that being said… owen should do just one for the movie. even issue a statement. although its from the creators of superbad and knocked up so that should be enough pulling power to get most teens into the cinema. -
The nose must stay. If he ever got it fixed he’d lose the ‘it’ factor completely

I don’t think this is the kind of movie that needs endless talk show promoting. Boys see trailer, boys see movie. Pretty cut and dry.
Two of the movies you mentioned were bad examples. The Darjeeling Limited has well, a limited audience appeal. I doubt it would have made that much more had he promoted it. It’s one of those quirky, off beat movies that only interests a small segment of the population.
As for Holy Man, Eddie Murphy’s promotion probably would have only been a temporary, first weekend boost. That movie was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! He could have donated a kidney to a random stranger and people would have been warning their friends to avoid that hot mess like the plague.

I can’t say I blame him. You know the idiots will only want to talk about his ‘troubles’. What’s the point if he will hardly be allowed to talk about the movie?
