Is Gwyneth Paltrow wearing a terrible wig, or is that her real hair?

What’s weird is that I think it’s her real hair. How does she get her hair to do that? It looks like an actual helmet. Like it has hard shell – you could knock on it and it make a “thump” sound. She must have used three full, organic hairspray bottles worth of junk to get it so stiff. Or is it a wig…? Here’s the hair from another angle:

Is there a hairpiece involved? Something keeping that one part up? Ugh. Anyway, this is Gwyneth in London, attending some event for Louis Vuitton. I find the dress boring, and the placement of her breasts unconvincing. From recent photos of her, I know she really stuffed her girls into that dress and there’s probably quite a bit of tape and prayer keeping them up that high. The Daily Mail thinks she looks “elegant”. Of course, I believe they use that word to describe Phoebe Price, so it gets thrown around a lot. Here’s more:

Gwyneth Paltrow has never been one to shy away from a risky style choice. Whether she is baring her legs in tiny shorts and skirts or showing off her figure in the now infamous sheer black dress she wore to the Oscars in 2002, the 37-year-old actress is no stranger to fashion faux pas.

So changing her hairstyle and opting for a daring keyhole dress to wear to the relaunch of the Louis Vuitton Maison store on London’s Bond Street tonight was a mighty risk to take. But it certainly worked, as the Iron Man 2 star looked elegant, chic and sexy in the minidress and Louis Vuitton heels.

And while it may not be noticeable to her millions of fans, Gwyneth recently revealed she had to work hard to put on weight after toning up to reprise the role of Pepper Potts in Iron Man 2.

Playing a country singer in new movie Now Love Don’t Let Me Down, Gwyneth was told by the director that she would need to bulk up for the role.

She explained: ‘Basically, I play a country western singer and I had been in great shape for Iron Man 2 and the director said, “I don’t want you to be so muscly”. So it wasn’t so much gaining weight as [a means of] just trying to soften up the edges a bit and not work out so much. I gained probably like 10 pounds. I tried to gain more, but I think I was also working so hard and such long hours that, you know, it was offset – my Bridget Jones attempt!’

However, Gwyneth’s weight gain was barely noticeable as she joined stars including Elle Macpherson, Gemma Arterton, Daisy Lowe and Kirsten Dunst at the event.

[From The Daily Mail]

Because Gwyneth is not capable of doing an interview without talking about her weight or dieting, preferably both. CB and I were talking about this during Iron Man 2’s promotion, when literally every day there was at least two new Gwyneth interviews in which she was talking about her weight and diet, with her exercise regimen in the mix too. I really think she has significant body image issues.

Speaking of, Gwyneth appeared on a British cooking/food challenge show several days ago. The Sun covered her appearance – guess what she talked about? Diet, food… and how much she drinks.

I used to root for her before she became so self-absorbed. Now she’s a caricature, and it’s a shame to watch people take easy potshots at her. It’s a little bit like watching a train wreck.

  2. S says:

it’s probably been teased and then brushed down a bit to keep the height. and yes, lots and lots of hairspray!

I love Gwyn…she’s hysterical – even though it’s usually unintentional haha

  3. guesty says:

her real hair for sure in the front. as for the length…prolly an extension.

  4. ViktoryGin says:

Is it possible to attach a lacefront weave to the near-edge of your hair, and comb the rest over in attempt to erase that awful, conspicously tacky hairline? ‘Cuz that’s what this hot mess looks like.

It’s terribly ironic that I used to HATE Pal-Ho (my endearment for her) when she was genuinely more likeable circa 2000. Now, that she courts so much hate, I just feel lukewarm.

  5. CB Rawks says:

    That dye colour is revolting.
Is it “Burnished Peaches” or “Mellow Sun-tone”?

  6. Schnauzers!!!! says:

    Or she’s using “bump-its” LMAO

  7. funnygirl says:

haha…Gwen’s using Bump Its! hate the hair…im sorry but she looks like a horse

  8. Maritza says:

She’s got shiny ears. She looks like a stepford wife, robotic.

  9. rianic says:

Her face is morphong into Cate Blanchett’s.

  10. Cinderella says:

    I’ll take that dress, though!

  11. kiki says:

She has the weirdest ears. They’re quite repulsive.

  12. That is the worst bump-it do ever!

  13. Bella Mosley says:

Saw her on Marriage Ref and she was hilarious. Looks like her hair and I think she looks great.

I’d love to see all the flawlessly gorgeous people with perfect bodies who have room to be so overly critical of everyone else.

  14. Amneh says:

Her eyebrows are transforming in the first picture and disappearing in the second. Overzealous plucking or is it just the dye is too light?

  15. kitkat says:

Is it just me or her hair doesn’t seem to MOVE at all.Its like it is glued to her head strand by strand.

  16. Just a Poster says:

    OMG I love those shoes!

  17. Whitey Fisk says:

Something’s wrong here, beyond the horrifying hair. I think she’s had Botox and it has given her that “heavy forehead” look that Nicole Kidman frequently sports.

  18. Tess says:

Her ears and arms are glowing. She’s into the burnished look.

“Satchels of gold,” is the way her lunatic friend Kelly of RHONY might describe it.

  19. andrea says:

i LOVE this outfit – the dress, the bag, those shoes, the combo – LOVE. and i dont usually love her outfits. i would guess that’s mostly her real hair, maybe some extensions for volume/length in there.

  20. tg says:

Her ears are lacquered from her hair being shellacked with spray. I’d say it’s her real hair.

  21. Ursaline says:

Schnauzers!! Little Fat Me and funnygirl: I’m totally late to the punch! You took the words out of my mouth! 😀 How outstanding would it be if she got caught using some drug store BumpIt? It almost looks like Barbie hair.

And the dress is something that could be ok if those shoes and the purse were different.

  22. Tia C says:

She’s been hanging out in England too long. This looks like classic frumpy English styling to me. The hair looks real, albeit unattractive. The dress would look more fitting on a 12 year-old girl (if it didn’t have that odd open part in the cleavage area). And don’t even get me started on those fugly pink bow ties on her shoes!!

  23. lucy2 says:

    The hair just looks…weird.
She seriously has some obsession with weight, food, cleanses, etc. It really does seem to be all she talks about.

Schnauzers!!, you need to post more often because every time I see your screen name, it makes me laugh!

  24. Scarlet Vixen says:

It really isn’t that hard to get your hair to do that–you tease the underside of the roots of the hair under the front layer, smooth the front portion of hair over the teased part, and use hairspray. I do it with a ponytail all the time. If your hair isn’t too long and heavy it keeps the shape.

And maybe she talks about her weight and diet all the time because that’s what interviewers ask her about (because of Goop)…Just like reporters ask Megan Fox about how hard it is to be so hot, or ask Angelina Jolie about how her quest for sainthood is working out.

  25. Lisa says:

I don’t quite understand why so many people have a problem with GP. She was great on the Marriage Ref.. seems to have a really good personality (funny & smart)and looked gorgeous. She is probably talking about her body, working out and diet constantly because she is being asked about it constantly. And cooking seems to be a passion, therefore, she talks about food a lot.. big whoop. Don’t understand the hate.

  26. suz says:

What is going on with the brassy hair color? I think her hair wouldn’t look as strange in person. The outfit is a miss though. Not to sound like a fashion victim, but the whole clashing accessories thing is over… I actually read it in the Harper’s Bazaar with HER on the cover!

  27. missmilly says:

Is it just me? But how comfortable and NOT AWKWARD would you be wearing a dress with a whole in the front?? I mean, how could someone think that looks pretty and walk around like it’s not strange or anything.? I would be waiting for my b__bs to fall out!! Yikes. I guess when your barbie you can wear anything?

  28. freckles says:

Sorry… all I can see is what looks like acne in her cleavage. That dress was a horrible choice

  29. toob says:

There is something weird and Joker-like about her smile. Face lift? A lot of women change their hairstyles to draw attention away from their latest nip-and-tuck.

And yeah, I think there is some fake hair goin on in there someplace.

  30. Cheryl says:

She’s letting roots AND gray grow in, her bust is bigger–is anybody else thinking “knocked-up”?

  31. original kate says:

i love how she always gives herself little compliments, like “i was in such great shape for iron man…” instead of just saying “yeah i just stopped working out for a while.” but no, she must blab on about her body. also, that dress is a disaster: the keyhole is way too big, her cleavage is weird, kind of bumpy. it should be kept covered. the shoes are ridiculous – at 37 she’s too old to wear pink bows anywhere on her body. the hair is weird and her face looks suspiciously tight.

  32. Belle Epoch says:

Still laughing about the repulsive ears!

She has no waist in these pictures. I don’t like Fish Sticks, so I never bothered to check if she ordinarily has one or if she is looking pregnant.

I’m in the minority here – can’t stand the dress, can’t stand the shoes, and the purse looks like it belongs to Apple. Definitely doesn’t go with dark grey and black.

I think it’s funny that stars can’t dress themselves.

  33. Crash2GO2 says:

Unfortunately, her face is already rectangular, so that is a poor hairstyle choice for her. It makes her already long face look even longer, although in profile she looks very pretty.

  34. Majosha says:

Ew, she really does have what appears to be acne between her boobs. Not sure why she’d choose to give us a glimpse, but whatever.

  35. Jeri says:

I immediately thought of a BumpIt type thing also.

The pink bows on the shoes give her Paris Hilton feet.

  36. fugly says:

the attached earlobes- not the hairstyle i would choose if i were sporting those.

  37. My2Cents says:

    God you guys are cruel.

  38. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I don’t even have anything to say, but I snorted when reading the line about the placement of breasts being unconvincing. That’s what I get for eating dinner so late.

  39. Jaxx says:

What the hell is wrong with her earlobes? Ick.

  40. Trashaddict says:

She tries to dress fashion forward, but it doesn’t matter because her attitude is older than her mother! She may put “all-natural” into her body but the outside is pure plastic!

  41. chessie says:

What has she done to her face?

    I didn’t recognize her.

  42. denise says:

    LOL! Helmethead.
