Admittedly, I know very little about world geography. The best way that I started to learn was when I began meeting people from different countries and taking an interest. Her world is full of wealthy socialites, her interests are shopping. Of course she doesn’t know about world geography. Hopefully this experience will encourage her to take an interest.
On the flip side, I just don’t understand why African orphans would WANT to meet Hilton. Are they hoping for a Madonna style adoption by a rich westerner? What can she possibly have to offer these kids?

Typical, pathetic yet mandatory PR tour in Africa. Everybody did it before so she just jumped into the train.
As far as not knowing the name of the countries she visited,it just valid my point about how this is just a cheap PR stunt.

I’d love to slam Paris all by herself for this, but there are plenty of Americans who have trouble distinguishing between continents and countries when it comes to Africa. At least she recognizes that West Africa and South Africa are different from each other, even if she gets the category wrong.
And that’s the nicest thing I can think of about her. That lots of other Americans are equally ignorant on this subject.

Coming from the Lone Star Republic of Texas, late of the South United States I appreciate what Paris said. We did name a city for her after all, and made a movie and named it for her too. Paris, Texas
We even have some hotels named for her too!

It was a dumb comment about West Africa… but I mean like others said most Americans are unaware – South Africa is a country in Africa it’s not completely dumb to think that there might be a West Africa country. I mean most American know Korea as North and South Korea, not broken down by their formal names… I don’t know, i don’t like Paris but its not like she said what Britney Spears said that one time about sushi being from Africa.

It is a region of Africa. Most people don’t know jack about geography. If she went there and her people told her she would visit South Africa, then West Africa, I doubt she knows the difference. Just like most other people.

Paris, the city of lights or romance as I think. There is not a more fantastic city in the world to visit. It has everything, good restaurants, cusy cafes aswell as alot of the finest museums in the world.
