Taylor Swift “never gets tired” of being famous & successful

taylorswift1

Here are some nice photos of Taylor Swift, all for the July issue of Marie Claire. I feel like Taylor was just on the cover Marie Claire. Let me check… nope, I was thinking about her recent Elle and Allure covers. To be fair, she’s styled the same way most of the time, although one magazine did give her either a wig, or they straightened her hair, and all of a sudden she looked like the most sophisticated girl. The curly hair makes her look young, and it makes her look “country”. So I guess it’s staying.

As far as the interview goes, I’m only skimming it for highlights – the full piece is here. There’s a lot about Reba McEntire and how much she and Taylor have some kind of lovefest going on. Let’s see… Taylor talks about how busy she is, and there’s a little mention of John Mayer, who I still think Taylor is dating/screwing. With thoughts like that, it’s easy to see why I have a hard time liking her right now. But she can come back! Here are some more of the highlights:

MC: Thanks to Twitter we know that you may be doing something with John Mayer and T-Pain. Could you talk about working with those artists, the freedom, and what’s that like for you creatively?
TS: I love making new friends and I respect people for a lot of different reasons. For me, great music doesn’t just have to fall into one category or one genre and I love appreciating all kinds of music. Country music is obviously my favorite and that just goes without saying. But, I’ve always loved John Mayer and I think T-Pain is brilliant. Getting to work with people like that has been really, really fun for me. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do and the fact that country radio has been so wonderful to me and has remained so true to me despite the fact that I’ve gotten to go and do all these things that I’ve dreamed about doing. It’s just been a really, really cool thing.

Thousands of girls are running around in sundresses and cowboy boots. Is this a fashion phenomenon for you?
Yes! That’s awesome. I wasn’t trying to start anything. I wasn’t trying to make people dress a certain way, but seeing girls coming to my shows wearing sundresses and cowboy boots and curling their hair is one of my favorite experiences ever because I remember when I was weird for dressing the way that I dressed and I was weird for having curly hair. It’s really fun to see that I’m not that weird anymore.

What do you do to keep from burning out?
As far as burning out, I get tired a lot, but I never get tired of it. I remember when I was a little kid and I used to sit there and think about how lucky I would be one day where people cared about the words that I wrote or how lucky I would be if someday I was just walking through the mall and saw some little girl walking by with my face on her t-shirt.

When you spend so much time daydreaming about things like that, when that actually happens you don’t ever complain about it. When I go to a restaurant, yeah I know that a line is probably going to form in front of the table, but didn’t I always wish for that? Yeah, I did. So it’s like, I never want to be the girl who wanted something so bad her whole life and then gets it and complains about it. I’m not going to be that girl.

[From Marie Claire]

She sounds like a nice girl. That’s always what I’ve thought about her – maybe she’s not the greatest country-pop crossover talent ever, and maybe her success came too fast, too soon, but she’s always remained rather winningly sweet to me. I can only imagine how naïve she is about men, though. To go from Taylor Lautner (who probably wouldn’t touch her without a contract in place) to John Mayer (who was probably about to wank on himself at the thought of doing douchey sh-t to Taylor), this girl needs some mature girlfriends in her life to show her the ropes.

Those are really nice photos of her – the change in styling does make her look sophisticated and prettier.
She does seem like a nice girl, with a good attitude about being grateful for her success, but man, I hope she stays far, far away from John Mayer.

  2. CC says:

She should give KStew a few pointers in attitude.

  3. Katalina76 says:

    CC:
You beat me to it!! I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing. What a breath of fresh air for her to acknowledge that she got exactly what she always wanted and that complaining about it would make her an ass.

  4. K says:

Whoa, they are crediting T-Swift with the sundress/cowboy boots “trend”? She definitely didn’t start that and definitely wasn’t weird for doing it. I’m from Tennessee, and girls here having been dressing like that since before Taylor Swift was popular.

  5. alibeebee says:

definitely she should give K-Stew and a few other celebutards some pointers

  6. Please says:

Why do people think she’s ‘screwing’ John Mayer? Because they took a photo together? That’s all i recall.

  7. guesty says:

she looks fabulous in these pics. way prefer the straighter hair on her.

  8. Oi says:

Finally someone backed off on her eyeliner! Will she please keep it that way?

  9. original kate says:

“I never want to be the girl who wanted something so bad her whole life and then gets it and complains about it. I’m not going to be that girl. ”

i’m actually starting to like this girl.

  10. Whatever says:

I see I’ve been beaten to my comment, but I’ll say it anyway. Kristen Stewart could learn a lot from this girl. Maybe Lautner can get them together for a little chat about gratitude. It’s a great attitude to have.

As for her hair, maybe it is naturally curly. Why go crazy straightening it and trying to fit into the current style?

  11. Chris says:

First off-I wouldn’t call it a love fest between her and Reba, but Reba has said she does appreciate how much more Taylor has opened people’s minds to country-though she is more pop, if you really think about it. Second, Taylor has said how much she has idolized Reba since she was a kid-which she kind of still is. At least you know she has some taste! If your gonna copy your career after someone-it might as well be Reba! The fact is, Taylor is a great role model for young girls, but she is now becoming a young adult in the music business-she can’t sing about fairytales forever-especially in country music. That’s the last place for them.

  12. ien says:

i’ve never thought she was really that beautiful (her country girl curly hair bothered me to no end) but she looks gorgeous in these pics. she looks amazing and older without that cheesy hair.

  13. danielle says:

Love the top picture – and yeah, her attitude seems good too.

  14. mire says:

I love the black dress she’s wearing. But it’s the same dress Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the ShoWest closing night ceremony. It’s a beautiful Marchesa dress I think…

  15. bros says:

meh. i wish she could sing, and then i could see what all the fuss was about.

  16. jover says:

How many mag covers does this no talent studio created hack need before her egos sated. Lets see – as her duet with Stevie Nicks earlier this yr proved, Swiftie can’t sing live as everyone knows and if you can’t sing live, you’re not a singer period; Swiftie is in the Miley,RiRi, Brit etc., group. She doesn’t play the guitar; she holds the guitar and plays a few chords and this after what 7 yrs. No, Jimi, Carlos,Jeff beck, B.B. King played the guitar. It’s an insult to say Swiftie plays the guitar just pr hype. Also, it’s well known her father is some Wall Street type that bought her way into the studio so she is a studio creation and as John Mayer, of all ppl said, anyone that truly believes someone as untalented as Swiftie writes her own songs is in for a hard life. THe media’s relentless promotion of no talents – seriously, someone has to be getting paid off – is appalling. The good thing is that 30 yrs from now her generic pop junk will be forgotten and I don’t want to hear from ppl about how I am hatin on her – she has no talent and is a mediocrity; so she is a nice girl so what. Her music is crap and the only daydreaming she and her pr/management team is doing is daydreaming that she has talent. Please. BTW, notice there is no actual discussion of her “music” how could there be there is nothing to it.

  17. Bill Hicks is God says:

Well, she may never get tired but Swift makes me so damned-near comatose I drink two Red Bulls and use the cans to keep my eyelids open.

  18. Kelbear says:

Really like her hair that way. Every award show or event her hair is always the same way.

  19. gg says:

She looks SOOO MUCH BETTER with different styling and natural looking makeup, and her hair pulled back like normal, instead of the flat, weird, marcelle-waved, plastered down, flapper thing she usually has. She looks really normal and pretty here, and I’m thrilled to see what she looks like under the usual heavy black eye goop.

Re the shoes — is it just me or are shoes now all looking like horse hooves? Not attractive and they never accentuate or go with the clothes people wear with them. What is up with the tacky shoes lately?

jover, I don’t know why you’re so worked up – that’s what the music biz is all about, and has been, for quite some time now. It’s who you know and/or how you can pay your way in. It’s not all about talent anymore, it’s how you sell yourself.

And nobody’s a guitar player if they don’t play like effin Jimi Hendrix or B.B. King?? What did you smoke for breakfast? I can tell you don’t play an instrument. You should try it sometime, it’s very relaxing. Nobody anywhere has ever said she’s a virtuoso.

  20. Sharonkings says:

love these pics of her! An improvement over the ugly curls she always has!

  21. PrettyTarheelFan says:

Thank you GG you just covered all my points I wanted to make to Jover.

  22. Gwen says:

How refreshing – a famous person who enjoys and appreciates her fame! I really hope she keeps this attitude. And yes, Kristen S, please take note!

Her hair looks so much prettier when it’s a bit straighter (like in the cover photo). She looked stunning as a brunette in her “You Belong With Me” video.

  23. I just don’t get it. I don’t see talent or beauty with this girl. I guess white girls in Hollywood dont have to have either to make it these days. Good for her.

  24. jover says:

GG if its not about talent then why are we wasting time with her your response has proved my point You’re acknowledging the lousy state of much of today’s music while real artist go unrewarded and you don’t seem to care. Doesn’t musical integrity and artistry mean anything?

  25. Layla says:

I’m glad they did something with that awful hair.

  26. RHONYC says:

get that cover girl contract, taylor!

    neutrogena & candie’s too!

    watch your a#$, brit.

    hee-haw! 🙂

  27. Bullett says:

First thing that came to my mind as well, K-STEW! Boy, the latter could learn alot from this girl about being gracious and likeable. Her success may have well exceeded her actual skills, but I just don’t mind as much when it happens to someone that appears to be inherently decent.

  28. Hautie says:

I like that she decided to try to keep her curls.

As a girl with a head full of long natural curls myself… you can not straighten it out daily without doing a great deal of damage. It is not worth having straight hair, if it means you end up cooking it with all the heat.

And even with it straight, it will not stay that way all day. It will frizz up and look like cr*p if the dew level rises at all above 50. (can you tell I watch the weather daily? haha!)

What Taylor has done is try to control the frizz with those funky flat marcel looking curls that she sports. If you notice she has lost at least a foot of her length even doing that.

I say she needs a good spray on gel and let those curls stay natural.

  29. Kelaa Khaa says:

Swifty looks good without the eyeliner, I was wondering what looked different about her but I am Team Jover. There is so much undiscovered talent out there and TS is ok but no comparison to some of the stuff I’ve heard on CBC. Too bad the fartists garner all the media attention.

  30. DetRiotgirl says:

I really don’t understand the hate here. Yes, Taylor probably is a studio creation. I’ve heard her live performances, and they are terrible. But, her studio music is listenable, unlike most other pop stars her age. I may find her slightly boring. But, she is obviously gracious about her success and comes off well in interviews.

So Taylor is no Hendrix? No one ever said she was or wanted to be! Pop music has been filled with manufactured creations for ages, going all the way back to Annette Funicello on the original Mickey Mouse club and probably before. If you don’t like that kind of music, don’t listen.

The worst way you can protest something or someone you don’t like in pop culture is by giving it attention. That’s why the kardashians still exist! We all claim to hate their famewhoring ways, but we give them the attention they need to stay on magazine covers by complaining about them. It’s just something to think about.

Btw, Taylor looks great in these pictures!

  31. UrbanRube says:

I’ve said this up here before, so pardon me if I sound like a broken record, but I always like to give a shout-out to her for being so sweet to my kid about three times now backstage at concerts. She is kind and playful, always remembers her name (maybe the publicist reminds her, but still…) and makes her feel important. That is the whole world to a ten-year-old. I haven’t met her, but my daughter laughs that Taylor is taller than my husband…

  32. Emily says:

Oh, I’m completely in love with that black dress! So impractical, and it’d look ridiculous on me, but I WANT! I also want people like KStew to develop an attitude like Swift’s, but I doubt that’s ever going to happen.

  33. flutters says:

I love the picture of her in the black dress. Hate the closeup of her in blue.

Taylor Swift is a master self marketer. She writes decent albeit recycled pop tunes if you’re into the naive self-involved fairytale thing. Wish she could sing a lick but she’s smart. I’ll take her over Britney any day, but I’ll take Kelly Clarkson and Pink over her every time.

  34. freckles says:

    She’s lookin a little Fergie-ish. And that’s never a good thing.

    Not the royal one, btw.

  35. Jillian says:

I really, really, really like her. I wore sundresses and cowboy boots for a long time and I’m pleased that I don’t look like a freak anymore because she’s brought them into fashion.

I think she’s really sweet and genuinely talented, even if her songs are a little more pop than I normally like.

And after horrible Kstew and her bad attitude and skankatronic Miley, Swifty is like water in Death Valley.

  36. Angel says:

Her friend, that Selena girl, was JUST quoted as saying something uncannily similar to this. Clearly PR’s, and not their words. And clearly in reference to KStew’s latest antics.

Sheep sheep sheep. For the love of god stop falling for it.

  37. NFLmama says:

Yes but we’re getting tired of her.

  38. Veema says:

I think I recall that she used to live in PA before she moved to try music?

If so, that might be why she felt like a dork wearing dresses and boots. Perhaps no one else in PA was doing that.

  39. Olivia says:

Taylor Swift I think your music is very good and very smart and awesome!!!!!!!!!I want to have a voice just like u!
