To be fair, TMZ pointed out the obvious comparison first, to my knowledge. But now that it’s out there, isn’t it ridiculous? All it took was one not-so-sparkly haircut, and all of a sudden Robert Pattinson could be Jason Priestley’s younger brother. And that’s not a bad thing either – Jason was a good-looking kid (although short). Brandon Walsh Forever.
Anyway, there’s not a ton of Pattinson news today, I just wanted to use these photos from the set of Water for Elephants because I thought they were pretty and funny. The only interesting piece of info I found was that Rob and Tom Cruise might be onstage together at the MTV Movie Awards. Which could be funny, I guess.

Please. Robert Pattinson and his fish-mouthed, chili-nosed, bulbous-eyed self WISHES he looked as incredibly gorgeous as Jason Priestly did in his youth (it’s been ages since I even heard his name being mentioned anywhere, by the way).
The only difference is that, now, Mr Pattinson looks like he has actually showered and put some clean clothes on. The shaggy, “I’m a tuberculosis-afflicted and malnourished 19th Century Romantic writer” look is only pretty in print. That poor boy looked like he would catch a skin infection any time soon.
Anyway, I agree with Lucy2… Where’s the appeal?

I think he’s adorable. I listened to his commentary on that cr*pfest Twilight and he’s really really funny in an odd way. Like goofy. I dunno. I love listening to actors on commentaries because you’ll either get sanctimonious “The work is soooo important” type stuff or they will be themselves and giggle through it.
He is seriously hot when they shave him and wash his hair.

I think he is way overdoing it—the whole work thing. Seriously he has done like 3-4 movies in the past 8 months. He is trying to prove so hard, so fast that he is such a wide range actor–not just a hot vampire.
imo, Rob is 100x more attractive than Jason Priestley ever was.

Apparently, Fallon has this long-running skit about Pattinson, and what “bothers” him, that he does while sitting in a tree (a la Twilight). In this one, Pattinson joins him and it’s quite funny.
as for his appeal, I used to be the same way, I just couldn’t see it. until I saw him in a few interviews, and he seems like such a fun, intelligent person.
but hey, to each his own. a lot of people think I’m nuts because I think Henry Rollins is hot, so go figure.

@Praise St Angie – I love that skit! Made everyone and Facebook look at it. I do have grudging respect for Sparkles – I think he realizes this is fleeting which is why he could make a career out of this. Henry Rollins is an awesome writer and frontman, actor, not so much.

And, I think Pattingson is a great choice to play Jacob. I’ve never seen him in anything, actually, but he seems to fit the part… Urgh, I can’t wait!
Jason Priestly? In some of the earlier photos from this movie he looked more like Brendan Fraser when he was young, lean and cute.

Gorgeous guy to look at, even better to listen to. He has a quirky, witty personality. He’s not the typical cookie cutter Hollywood guy. And these pics, yes, he looks like Jacob from the books, he’s very appealing. Reese as Marlena and Christoph as August, the cast for Water for Elephants rocks!
No way Rpattz looks like Jason Priestley! Lmao when I was a lil girl my mom was obsessed w/ Beverly Hills 90210 & always had it on tv! My first crush was on Elvis Presley (when he was hot) & my 2nd crush was on Jason Priestley bc I thought he was soooo dreamy like the KING 😉 & for sure Rpattz doesn’t look anything like Elvis so he certainly doesn’t look like J.P

Rob Pattinson appeals to me because I get a sense that he is even more brilliant behind that pretty face. I look at pictures of him now on the set of Water for Elephants and compare him to the first Twilight movie and he has matured so much – from boy to man. His interviews are always funny and entertaining and he comes across as so genuine and honest. I think his acting is getting better with every movie I see him in – keep them coming, Rob!
