Honestly, the only thing that I think is “inappropriate” is the chain necklace. I’m borderline against the hair for a 9 year old, but I could be persuaded the other way. Would I let my 9 year old dress like that? No, but my 9 year old also isn’t walking a Hollywood red carpet any time soon. The outfit is, at some level, kind of cute. The hair is nutty and the chain definitely has to go, but the rest of it is ok. I mean, heck, she is FULLY clothed, so there is a lot worse out there — see Cyrus, Noah.

Her hair is awesome. What I love about it is that her parents haven’t sewn someone else’s hair into hers! Though I’m sure her hair IS chemically relaxed, this hairstyle requires her to be rocking it natural style. She looks FANTASTIC! The outfit is great. She actually looks incredibly high fashion, yet age appropriate. It’s so FUNKY! I don’t like the chain, but for me that’s a matter of style, not decency.
P.S. To be fair, this is probably something my mom would have put on me and I would have loved. WAY less expensive, though. 🙂

I have to talk about Xtina: I feel bad for her that her career sucks right now. She’s got a great voice and should showcase that instead of going overboard on these big production numbers. She should have faith in her voice and presence to do a kickass video and show just very simply and cleanly. I will bet that she’d knock it out of the park. Maybe she needs better management or advisors or friends or something.
Willow loves the way she is dressed. She loves her hair too. Why do people care so much? It’s just hair. It’s just clothes. She’s not wearing some skin tight outfit or even a mini skirt. She’s not even wearing any make-up. Relax. Really – it’s not that big a deal.

It is a bit too mature for a 9 year old to me. I think it is weird for her to be posing on the red carpet. Her brother is in a movie but she is not.

Sure, it’s strange and I’ll bet Tempestt Bledsoe thinks wild things about that verticle plane she was sporting circa 1988, but at least she’s covered and having fun with fashion instead of being used by it to appeal to some dreary fantasy she’s too young to even understand. So, I guess I have low standards, but I’ll take this in a heartbeart over the things I see kids around her age sporting on the streets now that the sun has returned to Canada. Ratty weaves longer than I am tall, short shorts to beat the band, ‘make up gun set to ‘whore” cosmetic application, and all kinds of fashion crimes that make me want to donate some of my cardigans to the United Hoochie Bootie Club. I think the outift is a bit old for her, it’s definitely from the Bride of Ri-Ri Collection, but I’d rather see this than the dollar-store crap they put on poor Noah Cyrus–who is a normal-looking kid whenever she doesn’t have to be ‘on’. Perfer this outfit over seeing The Will Smith’s Kid film to be honest, but that’s something else. Heck, women a lot older than her can’t get anything together. Last week, I saw a tampon string, and it wasn’t mine. Yup.

I do not see anything wrong with saying the child looks ridiculous. She does. There is nothing cute, sweet or awesome about her. She and her brother are kids, not mini adults and their clothes are tacky adult clothes put on children.

How are the clothes not age appropriate? She’s fully covered. She doesn’t have the word JUICY stamped across her ass, which I’ve seen plenty of in girls younger than her. No pictures of cherries or seductive kitty cats across her front. Her clothes aren’t too tight It’s colorful and creative–she a KID for cripe’s sake. I don’t prefer the hair, but if she likes it, so be it. She’s a child…and a creative one at that. Wonder where she gets that from?

I think that the hair and clothing style are a yell out for attention from any/everyone. Her brother has the primary role in a big production movie, her parents are constantly dragging the family into the spotlight like ‘look at how wonderful our family is’. What’s a nine-year-old to think at this point other than ‘I need to do things to garner attention. I need the attention/spotlight to be on me. I’m not in a movie right now, but I can have style’.
If my feeling on this is right, it is a dangerous path for any child to be on. No one person can ever have the spotlight all of the time and fame is a horrible addiction, especially when the taste for it is acquired in childhood.
Age-appropriateness (is that a word?) isn’t always mutually inclusive of sex. This outfit is not sexualized in regards to exposure, BUT I still don’t care for it on a girl this young.
Unfortunately, I can’t articulate why I find this outfit too old for nine-year old. If she were 14 and older, I’d be okay with it. There’s just something about animal prints on a child that I don’t care for. Brings to mind hookers, patent leather, and heroin needles.
