Gwyneth Paltrow gifts us with some Goopy God talk

“Ha ha, poor people! Snort.” – Dame Gwyneth

This week’s Goop is special. I mean, all of them are special, really, when you think about how much it takes out of Gwyneth to deign to advise us peasants how to dress, shop, think, read, Goop, and simple “BE”. But this one is even better – because Goopy is talking God. Sort of. You know how when Gwyneth wants to phone it in, she’s the queen of cutting-and-pasting? Goopy cut-and-pastes much of her Goopy God talk. I think the theme is supposed to be “giving” as in “peasants should give more, look at how much I give them.” Here’s her introduction:

“Do you love your creator? Love your fellow-beings first”
-Muhammed
“A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”
– Buddha
“Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
– Jesus

Spiritual leaders for centuries have taught the idea of putting someone else’s needs before one’s own. What is it about this common thread – the act of giving of one’s self – that is so valuable?
– gp

[From Goop]

It’s like she thinks her words are as important as Jesus and Mohammed’s right? No, not really. She thinks that her question is eternal, just like Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha. Meanwhile, Vishnu is like “Can I get a shout-out, bitch?” Goopy has just alienated a lot of Hindus. Breaking: Gwyneth HATES Hindus. Anyway, the rest of the piece is just cut-and-pasted from Deepak Chopra (sellout!), Michael Berg (Kabbalah stuff, “wear a red string” et cetera), Cynthia Bourg Ault (Episcopal priest) and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel, who just talks about Buddha this, Buddha that. The only message I’ve received is that Dame Goopy thinks charity starts at Goop. That’s right – we’re her charity cases. For the full Goop newletter, go here.

I feel sorry for her children. They’re going to grow up with this mother who tells them that they come from this spiritual enlightened family while they’re living in mansions and driving around in Ferraris. They will think that “being a good, righteous person” means talking about how they are going to help the poor, unenlightened peasants while sipping $500 champagne at Hollywood parties. They will be as insufferable as she is.

Hey! I dont give two hoots about Goopy. BUTTTTT…When did it become ok to roll up the sleeves on a blazer to have the lining showing?

This is the best Goopy bit of news I’ve ever had! I am short, and wide, therefore my damn blazers/coats always have to be altered so my damn sleeves fit. Now, thanks to Goopy, I can save some dough and just roll them up!

    NICE! THANKS GOOP!

  3. Alecto says:

I thought she was standing next to blohan for a minute in that last pic

  4. di butler says:

    Stella McCartney-Bangs. Please try them.

  5. Lisa says:

I have always liked GP, but ya, I did not care for this GOOP or the last one.

  6. Hunter says:

    @Annie
My mom is petite and she has been rolling up her blazer sleeves as long as I can remember and she always dresses great. I can she say she is better dressed than Mrs Goop most of the time.

  7. margo says:

she is just so boring, but I think she is a nice person, born with luck

  8. Sha says:

Ugh, her WONK eye kills me every time. I wish she’d stop. Eat a hamburger and get over yourself.

  9. aenflex says:

Look GP is pretentious, snobby and boring at times. I know a lot of people love to hate her, incl. some of the bloggers here. She aint my favourite…but still…this weeks goop message was a positive one, as are most of her newsletters, (even if she didn’t write them). So I draw my own line at despising her, I just don’t see the reason. And please, don’t feel sorry for her children. They will have more than most of us ever will, and thier father is Chris Martin!

  10. Miss Bitch says:

The rolled-up blazer sleeve started in the 80’s – see: Don Johnson in Miami Vice.

  11. Catherine says:

While GP isn’t my favorite, I really don’t see the need to hate this woman. Do we know for a fact she hates Hindus? Did that come straight from her mouth? I think GP likes to fancy herself a spiritual person, and maybe she is, but what does she do to help and give herself to others? Most of her advice is from what she likes, what she eats, what she buys, etc. Frankly, if I were one of her rich friends then maybe her advice would be relevant. Until then, she is just another actress voicing another opinion.

wow – i got soooooo enlightened just reading goop’s GOOP. just her goopy vibes set me on the path to inner peace. i’m going to celebrate my newfound nirvana the way goopy does: by shopping at burberry, drinking expensive wine, eating the raw food dinner my personal chef made and then sleeping on my 1,000 thread-count egyptian cotton sheets. namaste.

  13. trollydolly says:

@Original Kate : Thank you for making me laugh (in a sardonic fashion)

  14. anonymous says:

LOL. I’m proud to say that I’ve never visited the goop site and have no plans to.

  15. buckley says:

I think we can blame the Jonas twinks for the rolled up blazer sleeves too!

  16. snappyfish says:

    vapid self important snob

  17. Heather says:

Lol, Catherine, Kaiser was joking at hating Hindus part.

  18. anonymous says:

The way she has the sleeves rolled up doesn’t look that good because it shows where the lining is sown to the outer fabric. Would look better if she rolled a shorter amount over twice.

  19. My2Cents says:

Its just wrong how much hate people spew out about this woman. She is trying to do something positive and you all put her down. Shame on you.

  20. JJ says:

    # 4 above (bangs) – LOL!

Kaiser: WHY do you give her a platform if you’re so against her? Can we please just ignore her and make her go away?

  21. CB Rawks says:

Hey maybe she really doesn’t know, and wants someone to explain to her why she should be bothered to help others. 🙂

  22. mai tai says:

Goofy’s second pic looks like a mugshot. Seriously, some people NEED makeup, and Goof, you’re one of them!

  23. yes she look great..i love here smile.

  24. david says:

    @di butler LOL

  25. Jorja says:

While I do not read her blog, it is only a good thing when a)people talk about God and b)promote godly principals and (perhaps) cause others to rethink their behavior. I am a relative new comer to blog reading, but so many people write critical, belittling commentary. If her only crime is trying to teach us something, then leave her alone. You don’t have to read her and like that old adage states, if she helps just one person, then she’s done a good thing. At least she puts out positive energy and despite being ridiculed and criticized at every turn she continues writing. She must believe in what she’s doing…she’s doesn’t impress me as a hypocrite or a snob, for that matter. Maybe her view is lofty, but we can only speak to and from our own experience. Maybe I’ll take a look at her blog…it can’t be THAT bad…after all I read and post here…it might be a nice change of pace!

  26. Istanem says:

Oh leave the Goops alone. Why don’t you take a good look at yourself in the mirror before taking other people down. Oh that’s right – you’re completely perfect.

  27. anonymous says:

Does she only ever speak in platitudes, or does she actually say or do something more specific? Anyone can speak in platitudes, and I don’t see how that is doing good. Take a stand on something specific, but more importantly, take some action, Gwyneth. But I wouldn’t want you to break a nail or anything.

  28. Mistral says:

OK, her blog is lame. But, I’ve gotta give it to her. She looks good. And she always looks expensive. She’s got that “rich kid” look down.

  29. mitzi says:

Gwyneth – a twat, as usual.

Stella McCartney – a mess, as usual.

  30. Majosha says:

In that second pic, she looks like a dude who just participated in the X-Games or something. Kind of surfer masculine.

  31. Karen F says:

How many real people even care about Deepak Chopra or crap religions like Scientology?

  32. blubber says:

The rolled up sleeves…its the boyfgriend blazer…fashion concept is you plucked bfs blazer out of his closet (probbaly after a night of wild passion, or not, your choice) and just roll up the sleeves over a whit tshirt to go. I like it and have a black bf blazer i wear like this. And yep, I am uber petite and it saves me alterations as well. Bless, a fashion that suits the little people!
