Christina Aguilera’s bisexuality act is “for women’s rights”

fp_5188946_brj_kimkardashian_christinaaguilera_061210

In case you couldn’t tell, that’s Christina Aguilera behind Kim Kardashian’s big famewhore ass. It’s like a sign of the apocalypse, seeing these two together. I like how the photographers were clearly more interested in shooting photos of Kim, and Christina is like, “Hey, don’t block the paparazzo’s shot with your big ass, bitch!” No, of course she wouldn’t. Christina is still relevant, of course. Now, I know that some people still like her, but her publicity tour for her new album Bionic has been, in my mind, an unmitigated disaster. Christina is drawing too heavily from Lady Gaga, trying too hard to be shocking and risqué, trying too hard to be controversial or newsworthy, and all of it has fallen short, and way off the mark. But Christina is barreling on – talking again about her faux bisexuality and how empowering it is that she kisses girls. Ooh, scandal. In 1999. By the way, how old is the photo Company Magazine used for their cover? That truly looks like it’s from 1999 too:

xtina

Christina Aguilera’s risqué outfits, skin-tight costumes and provocative photo shoots aren’t just for show. The singer says her sexy image is her way of getting out what she believes is an important message.

“I feel sexuality to be very empowering,” the singer, 29, tells U.K. magazine Company in its July issue. “I think men love to believe that they own our sexuality, so if a woman represents herself in a sexual way, people think, ‘Oh it must be for a man.'”

“But men don’t have the right to own our sexuality,” she says. “If I want to be sexual, it’s for my own appreciation and enjoyment! That’s why I like to talk about the fact that sometimes I am attracted to women. I appreciate their femininity and beauty.”

Before calling her a feminist, be warned, Aguilera says she doesn’t like to get into labels. Instead, she’s simply fighting “for women’s rights in the sense that we shouldn’t be ashamed of ourselves or our bodies.”

But husband Jordan Bratman has nothing to worry about. His wife of almost five years knew he was The One, because when they met, “Everything was a little blurry and he was the one concrete person that I could trust,” she tells the magazine. “He was centered, grounded and always helped me see the positive in the negative. He would lift me out of my black hole of sometimes feeling sucked in by the negativity of people around me. My husband is the calm in the storm.”

Though she acknowledges “you have to work at all relationships,” she says she couldn’t have found a better partner than Bratman. “He’s my team mate in everything we do,” she says. “He definitely makes life easier.”

[From People]

I find that one part about the feminist label deplorable. So Christina is going to promote her album by talking about how she kisses girls and how empowering that is (although, she admits she “still loves dick”) and it’s all “for women’s rights in the sense that we shouldn’t be ashamed of ourselves or our bodies” but she won’t label herself as a feminist? Because that would be too much, I guess. Calling herself a feminist might, oh, I don’t know, alienate men? Because that’s what she’s worried about, having men still see her as sexy or something. Because talking about making out with girls is supposed to be titillating to dudes. So she’s not doing it for herself, she’s just doing it for the same dumb reasons as all the girls in the Girls Gone Wild videos. Christina, girl, you are dumb as a box of hair.

  1. Lady Nightshade says:

Wouldn’t it be way more empowering to be a woman who sells her records based on her immense talent rather then her sexuality?

  2. cedar falls says:

Oh dear, there’s no need for all this crap when you’ve got a voice that good. I can understand her frustration at the Gaga comparisons, as she was around first and wearing PVC chaps and giant pins in her back when Lady G was barely out of nappies but, instead of showcasing her superior vocal talents, she’s trying to go toe-to-toe with her in the “shock tactics” arena which is always going to result in an epic fail. Sigh.

  3. Strawberry says:

Empowering my a**. That first video looks like an S&M shoot with Christina as a crazy drunken participant who loves thrusting her hoo-ha. Hope her son wasn’t on set when they made it.

  4. lambchops says:

I totally agree about her shying away from saying she’s a feminist because it turns off men. LAME! I can’t stand this type of stance. Without the feminist movement, which gave women choices and freedoms, she would not have her dumb music career, for better or for worse.

  5. guesty says:

she really shouldn’t try so hard. her voice is beyond amazing.

as for kim’s brows…they have to be waterproof.

  6. Jazz says:

Christina Aguilera’s bisexuality act is all for publicity. She’s got a great voice, she doesn’t need all that other crap.

  7. Oi says:

She shouldn’t be labeled a feminist; she obviously knows nothing about it. Sex is NOT the only aspect of feminism, pop morons.

  8. Hautie says:

For me Christina has always been about the shock value of her behavior. Petite girl trying desperately hard to be sexy. (*cough*MileyCyrus*cough*)

Even back to the “Dirrty” days with the crazy black weaved hair, practically naked outfits and half a dozen body piercings.

She was doing the crazy before anyone knew about GaGa. Just not doing it in Alexander McQueen clothes.

Christina was always trying to be edgy/sexy but falling short simply cause she doesn’t need to do it. She actually can sing. And the singing gets lost in all the crap she was constantly trying evoke with the crazy behavior and clothes.

  9. RHONYC says:

being ‘sexually empowering’ isn’t the only thing being a woman is about, you lil’ twirp.

when is she gonna grow the f$%k up?

    *eyeroll*

  10. bite me says:

dumber than a box of hair, haha…kaiser you are on fire today…love it when you are extra bitchy, *smooches*

  11. snowball says:

I think it was Lainey that had the story (just guessing, but I think I saw it there in the last month-ish), but apparently she and Jordan have “naked Sundays” where they just sit around nude the whole day. Really. And she said as their kid grows up, they don’t plan to stop, since they want him to be comfortable with sexuality.

It’s one thing to be sexy and confident and push it a little. I’m wondering what her issue is though. It isn’t even about her voice with this album, it’s all about sex, the boobs, her cooch hanging out, the ball gags, the LED blinking vadge, the faux bisexuality.. I’m waiting for her to whip out a dildo and start at it on stage.

This is so far beneath that voice of hers, it’s sad to see. You have to wonder what’s going on in that head of hers. Too much bleach or something.

  12. malachais says:

Thank you Kaiser! Other celebrity blogs keep defending her… I think she is a great singer, but she is so caught up in her fame that she is desperate to stay relevant and will do anything to stay in the limelight. Thing is, she can be successful without all the crazy bs/style changes etc.

She seemed a respectable girl for a long time, and I thought that she was going to come out with a great album and focus on her kid, but it seems like she is just all over the place with her “style” and her idiotic interviews. I don’t get it, but I don’t think I’ve ever understood her whole style. Like when her single dropped from the charts and she backtracked on her comments towards Lady gaga, cmon.

I’m not a Christina hater, but I feel like she should just drop the act and just sing good music.

  13. tropicalchica says:

I saw her on Letterman last week and have to agree on the “dumb as a box of hair” comment. She really should not open her mouth except to sing, because she’s an idiot. Also, it’s NOT empowering that she flaunts her sexuality so openly; that’s for women who don’t have anything else to sell. She is one of the few who really has an amazing voice, so she should rely on that above all else.
BTW, the KK photo bomb is hilarious. That famewhore can sense a camera from miles away…

  14. Zoe says:

As a bisexual woman, I am so tired of people referring to bisexuality as an act, ploy, trend, faux sexuality, etc. I have no reason to believe Christina Aguilera is saying she is bi just to be “shocking”, perhaps being bisexual is just inherently shocking in itself to some people. She has been open and honest about this long before now and it’s myths and stereotypes like the above that are a good reason for her to continue to speak out about her sexuality. There needs to be more of a public understanding on the topic, which is far more misunderstood and publicly discriminated against than even being a lesbian would be as bisexuals draw fire from both the straight and gay communities. I applaud anyone who can be honest about who they are, if people want to believe she’s just trying to get attention they can well do that, but her talent speaks for itself and I don’t think she needs to be shocking to have a career, everyone’s career fluctuates from time to time. Not every person saying they are bisexual is out to alarm you, bisexuals are real people who exist in every industry and walk of life, and there is no reason they shouldn’t be as free to express their sexuality and themselves as anyone else.

  15. it’s not an “act” she blatently said she was attracyed to women when stripped was out and was piuctured kissing a girl in a club.
As for copying Gaga please that is too stupid, the “Not myself tonight” video is the only thing people go on about and in that XTina was wearing BONDAGE not a lobster on her head or some fucked up hoof boots lol
Gaga is the biggest immitator out there and i’m just dissapointed that people are too dumb to see through her crap.
XTina has an AMAZING voice, she’ll be around forever while gaga will be gone by 2012.
also XTina’s album BIONIC just went straight to No1 in the UK album chart.

  16. lucy2 says:

Lady Nightshade, I’m in total agreement. CA is one of the few music stars who really has true talent and isn’t just a manufactured pop star. She shouldn’t need to do all this, and it only makes her seems desperate and tacky. She doesn’t need all the gimmicks and shock value the others do, it’s a shame she can’t see that.

  17. denise says:

I am so over these “ladies” wearing bodysuits. Ugh!

  18. kiki says:

shes right go xtina!!! she has been raised in a culture that is blatantly sexist so she can spot it when it is covert keep speaking truth!!

  19. original kate says:

who wears gobs of bright red lipstick to hang by the pool?

  20. Vajayjay says:

Im looking at Kim on the first pic.. And I have to say, that I do believe her when she says her rack is real. I used to have 34F breasts before I had a breast reduction.. And wearing a bikini top I had the trademark “fold” under the armpit, that extends around the ribcage, to the back area, like Kim does. No hints of perfect cylindrical Tupperware bowl roundness to her rack =)

  21. Kim says:

Feminist she is not. Promoting or protecting womens rights she is not.

Talentless with no career so she needs to parade around naked and PRETEND she is gay – she is.

The gay community should ban her for pretending to be gay!

  22. kiki says:

@ kim~who are you to question what someone else believes?
you do not know her interpretation of feminism simply because it is not your definition does not mean she does not believe in equal rights for women

  23. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

Kaiser, thank you for this. You totally nailed it.

  24. bizzy says:

omg i can’t tell you how empowering it is to have someone with xtina’s incredible insight “appreciate … [my] femininity and beauty”. unlike all those rotten oppressive men who are only after my brains and biceps.

  25. gg says:

All I see when I see her trashy videos is: WOW THIS GIRL IS SO INSECURE!

At least she quit using the orange dried mud on her skin to pretend she was black. That was hard to look at.

  26. Wiley says:

zoe: I’m hetrosexual and I don’t ever remember having a need to tell anyone, especially complete strangers, that I am hetro. What purpose did that info serve? Was she yearning for sex with the interviewer or what? What I hear her saying is that she wants/needs attention and lots of it, and she doesn’t care what she does to get it. But, in fact, what she describes is not bisexuality. She said she appreciates the female company but she wants a man for sex. In fact, when she kisses a female she feels “empowered”. That’s not a sexual act. She kisses women to gain a psychological advantage over them, to dominate them. Did those women invite her to kiss them? Probably not, but in this PC environment they are not free to protest and that’s where CA gets her power.

  27. HotPockets says:

I love when porn stars use the whole “self and female empowerment..” reasoning behind their career choices, as well. Female sexuality is beautiful, but Xtina lost that vibe when she started promoting bionic. When she did the whole pin-up girl thing, that was something appealing to me as a woman sexually…tasteful and classic beauty.

I guess I’ve never been a Madonna or Gaga fan, so I really don’t find the over the top outfits and hair appealing or sexual, just silly and more for the shock value, not the sexuality.

  28. hmm says:

I think it’s quite easy to take a few quotes and act like that’s the totality of what she’s saying. People can hate on her all they want but what she’s saying is true. She has said and continues to say that women shouldn’t be judged for their sexual choices and should be free to revel in their sexuality just like men. I know it’s popular to hate on her because she wears too much makeup and relies too much on a sexy image but she is the only artist of her generation who has been 100% honest about who she is and she is totally unapologetic about it. For years we’ve been inundated with female artists who have talked out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to sexuality and she is the only one who hasn’t done this. And the last I heard, feminism was about women being FREE to make their own choices without judgment. I also know that it’s popular to act like she just became sexual and she just started talking about liking women but she’s been saying the same things for years. Yet, by all means let’s act like this is a just an act for popularity.

  29. Camille says:

I’m so tired of hearing about her boring sexuality rhetoric. It’s time to talk about something new Xtina, then you might become relevant again!

  30. Katija says:

It’s funny how none of these bisexual celebs are ever actually in public relationships with women.

  31. georgiagrl says:

Whenever these celebs have something to promote/ sell, they let the stupid s#$@ fly!
She needs to just sing and hope good music finds an audience, and stop the nonsense.

  32. Lemon Drops says:

    The blonde Megan Fox.

  33. NicoleAM says:

She represents the kind of female empowerment men are rooting for, not feminists. I’d have more respect for her and others like her if they were just honest and said, “yes, i like male attention and that’s why I do what I do.” But this whore act disguised as female empowerment? No, honey, you’re simply conforming to the age old male dominated ideal of showing the goodies EVERY chance you get. Sad.

  34. Steph says:

Right, she’s claiming to be bisexual for the sake of women’s rights, yet for years, she’s played out like a 15 year old boys’ girl on girl fantasy…. 1 minute she’s jailbait, then dirrty, then pinup now some sort of fetish fantasy.

I don’t buy it. I think she’s just trying to be relevant.

  35. M says:

ugh she is just so over rated! Her voice, her image, everything!

  36. ViktoryGin says:

I wish she would cease pontificating about sexuality and womanhood, because her rhetoric is about 40 years behind.

Isn’t about time that we update the dialogue and sexuality, women, empowerment, and the media; and discuess more about how sexuality is offered up as yet another profitable gimmick that various capitalist interests have manipulated in order to prey on our self-worth and pocketbooks. Sexuality as it’s sold to us in the mainstream media (and I’m talking to you Christina and the rest of the pop queens) is another form of slavery….undermining the self-esteem of women (men, too, actually) because this manufactured sexuality monopolizes the idea of empowerment. 12 year olds are frequenting Victoria’s Secret because this is “what the boys like”. Oh….but they are being patently expressive of their sexuality, so it must be empowerment, eh Chris? These days, too many girls are seeking their self-esteem through sex. I like Christina, I really do; but this whole stance is so antiquated and limiting.

In the attempt to try to own our sexuality and demystify it (which is what Christina thinks she’s doing)…we’ve gone to the other end of the spectrum. So, we can now be openly gay, , be polyamorous, and even fake-bi, Christina; but we as a whole are still in the dark about what truly constitutes sexuality and empowerment.

  37. Johnny says:

“Wouldn’t it be way more empowering to be a woman who sells her records based on her immense talent rather then her sexuality?”

    THIS TIMES 9000!!!!

  38. Hillary says:

I got done reading the post and was skimming through some of the comments and was gonna be on my way, until I read #1, I just wanted to say that is a fantastic observation. I 100% concur.

  39. dumb says:

Um, yes IS an act. She isn’t bisexual. EVERY GIRL in hollywood claims to be “bi” because they think it makes them look edgy. Its so stupid. Kesha, gaga, fergie, christina, lohan etc ALL say they’re “bi” and it’s pathetic. Grow the eff up and stop pretending to be “bi” for shock value.

  40. Bob says:

This is incredibly pathetic. The rise of the bisexual female is a feminist thing and men need to wake up and stop supporting this rubbish.
