I mentioned in the Tony wrap-up post that Catherine Zeta-Jones is looking a little… Botoxy. Plasticy. What happened to her face? I will accept that the bangs aren’t a good look for her, and that she’s wearing a ton of makeup, etc. But still – the girl’s had some work. What I neglected to mention, however, was that Michael Douglas was Catherine’s date, and that Michael isn’t looking all that great either. Anyway, when Catherine won her Tony for A Little Night Music, she thanked her husband profusely, but then regretted it almost immediately. Yes, Zeta. I would make a shameface too. And then I would take a bath in pure gold. But Catherine thought that her immediate reaction, which was to publicly gush about Michael, was “crass”. Oh, Zeta. You’re not the Queen!
It wasn’t exactly a little night music, it was more like a lewd rap song. Catherine Zeta-Jones regrets her Tony Award-winning acceptance speech Sunday night, in which she gushed over husband Michael Douglas upon winning best actress for her role in the musical “A Little Night Music.”
“See that man over there?,” she said, motioning to her beaming husband in the audience, “He’s a movie star, and I get to sleep with him every night.”
Although the audience laughed with approval, an embarrassed Zeta-Jones, who shimmered in a strapless, glacier-blue Versace gown, shuddered when she got off stage.
“I can’t believe I said something like that,” she told London’s Daily Mail. “Just can’t believe I said something as crass as that.”
Though the 40-year-old star did acknowledged her comments weren’t as over the top as they could have been.
“Boy, I could have said something worse and then I’d really be in trouble,” she told the British tabloid. “Mind you, the problem with saying that I get to sleep with Michael every night is that it was done on television and it’s on tape forever.”
Zeta-Jones had a good excuse for her logorrhea. Although the Oscar-winning actress comes with more experience than most Hollywood actors, it has been years since she has starred in a major stage production.
“I’m in a state of shock to be totally honest with you,” she said. “I can’t believe I won the Tony Award. I couldn’t believe I’d been nominated with a group of such great actresses.”
Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been together for nearly 10 years and have two children together, Dylan Michael, 9, and Carys Zeta, 7.

So, do you think Michael’s money bought that Tony (much like he bought her Oscar), or did Catherine win it all by herself, because of her own talent? Eh. Honestly, I don’t think many people really give a f-ck about Michael Douglas anymore, so it’s not like he has sway over much at this point. Which is good news – that means Catherine is winning awards because she’s working hard and people like it. But going back to no one caring about Michael anymore – that’s why Catherine’s “crass” remarks seem weird. I mean, her original speech was kind of sweet, but then to backtrack, it just seems like “Who cares?”

Not sure about her Tony,but CZJ definitely deserved her Oscar through sheer talent. She was actually fun to watch, and you could tell she cared about what she was doing.

@ Feebee – paperwork can be changed – just ask Beyonce. I remember TMZ or some site found a TX Birth Certificate of Beyonce’s with her birthdate as 1974. Next thing you know, her camp comes out with this passport with her birthday in 1981.

She’s truly looking dreadful (I admit I write that with glee). Yes, she was a beauty, but she NEVER had talent. I thought she was stiff and not that competent in her Oscar performance. Yes, I think Michael bought it for her and he bought her Tony, too. Renee Zellwegger, who everyone likes to put down, is actually a much better actress than CZJ and her performance in Chicago outstripped Jones’s for sheer talent and charisma. Plus Zeta Jones is a suing bitch. I hope she doesn’t sue me for this. I’m sure her lawyers are much better than mine.

Or maybe…just maybe she is setting him up? She talks up her husband at an awards show and then a week or 2 later we find out he is having an affair with some low rent tattoed trailer trash? Wouldn’t that be an interesting twist. Not that for a second I think Bullock knew but I do think a smart PR guy would have learned a lesson or two and CZJ is more than smart enough. Maybe not the best actress ever but a very clever woman nonetheless.
Years and years ago, when she was on The Darling Buds of May, I thought she was just the most gorgeous thing, but now, not so much. Which makes me sad. I don’t know why, but she doesn’t look like she is aging well, maybe it is the smoking? That hair does nothing for her at all either! And I wish she would wear something a bit ‘younger’, her fashion style has always seemed too old, although that dress is a lovely look on her and isn’t her usual boring old lady style.
I would think one of the benefits of being married to an old geezer is that you can go ahead and age gracefully, still look way younger/better, and forego the plastic. A natural beauty ages beatifully. Manufactured beauty forever needs updating.

I think she’s beautiful, but she lost too much weight recently and I think that (the weight loss) doesn’t look good on her. She should put on a few more pounds and she’ll look better again.
But regardless of how attractive I think she is, no way is she 40 (see the Life Magazine photo from 1984). I don’t like dishonesty.
Michael Douglas has been grieving for his son and his ordeal, as well as working on Wall Street 2. He should be spared from judgement. Anyone in his position (male or female) who looked other than worn out would be suspect, IMO.
CZJ, however, has been 40 for a long time. Like, a dog year or two. And since she’s been older than me for quite awhile (and I just turned 40 – and no, I’m not jealous; I’m regularly mistaken for 27 by quite a number of people), I can only conclude she’s not 40 in real time.
Michael Douglas is part of Hollywood royalty and he has a LOT of clout and connections. He probably bought her both the Oscar and the Tony.
I think she has had her face played with. It is a shame because she was incredibly pretty. She does look older than I have ever seen her, but I don’t think she is lying about her age!!!?? Who knows. I think she is one of those very confident woman who would always have liked successful older men.

I’m from Houston and Beyonce has been performing in Houston since she was about 9 y.o. in local shows .There is a big difference between an 9 y.o. and a 16 y.o.
