Elizabeth Taylor loves perfume, Law & Order, being awesome

Elizabeth Taylor is interviewed in this week’s Us Weekly! She did their “25 Things You Don’t Know About…” which is one of Us Weekly’s better features, I think. Anyway, Dame Elizabeth is fabulous, of course. She loves Law & Order, she let’s her Twitter followers name her new perfume, her cat and dog are in love with each other. I’m not going to transcribe the whole list, just the best parts. These are all in Elizabeth’s voice, just FYI:

* When Jose Eber is out of town, I love to cut my own hair and anyone else’s.
* I’m mad for Law & Order and have seen every single episode. My children and Mariska Hargitay, a dazzling actress, played together as kids.
* I converted to Judaism in 1959.
* My Jewish name is Elisheba Rachel.
* I didn’t go on a date until I was 16.
* My legs are too short.
* The film I’m proudest of is Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf?
* I never face the day without perfume.
* I dreamed of designing perfume 25 years before I did it.
* My very first memory is of pain.
* I’m still heartbroken that Richard Burton never won an Oscar.
* I am sincerely not worried about getting old.
* I never tried to act until A Place in the Sun.
* I am disgusted by the amount of myth about me that is accepted as fact.
* People on Twitter named my new fragrance, Violet Eyes.
* I hate being called Liz, because it can sound like such a hiss.
* I believe you can be close to god anywhere.
* My dog Deliah is in love with my cat Fang. To each his own.
* My family and people with HIV/AIDS are my life.

[From Us Weekly]

How much do you love her? It seems like Elizabeth is having something of a renaissance, what with her Vanity Fair cover story and several books coming out about her relationship with Richard Burton. By the way, did everyone read the VF? It’s not online or I would link to it, but it’s definitely worth a read if you don’t subscribe. Also, I’m surprised she didn’t mention how much she loves hitting up LA gay bars for happy hour. Maybe because that’s one of things we already know about her!

  1. Leni says:

I love the fact that despite being a true icon she does not take herself too seriously and has no need to pretend that she is anything/anyone she is not.

  2. Isa says:

Her eyes are supposed to be violet? I don’t see it???

  3. meme says:

Now that’s a seriously beautiful woman. A true star.

  4. lilred says:

She is one hot mama. I would love to chill and chat with her. maybe a few margaritas…

  5. Victoria says:

They are not violet but they are a CRAZY ocean blue! Wow!

  6. andrea says:

Isa – seriously? how can you not be familiar with the legend of La Liz’s violet eyes?? she has an unusual eye color – it’s blue, but there’s an unusual opaque, sometimes blue-grey, sometimes violet look to them. they are not “purple” eyes, and they are those kind of eyes that change color, but they seem to take on a sort of an unusual semi-opaque periwinkle cast to them.

i love liz for being liz, but i also love her for her love of michael jackson, who is my love 🙂 she stood by him til the last.

  7. Darlene says:

    She’s amazing. I love her.

  8. OMJ says:

I love her for her dedication to the HIV/AIDS cause. Before it was cool, there she was.

  9. Isa says:

Well I have heard of her violet eyes but I have never understood and haven’t read much about her. Or seen any of her movies. I thought it was meant literally. She does have pretty eyes but in the first picture they look deep blue, the third they almost look green! Thank you for explaining 🙂

  10. Green Is Good says:

My God, that 1st picture of Liz. She was heart-stopping GORGEOUS.

  11. mln says:

I love elizabeth loved the VF article and I plan on reading the book. It just goes to show in the end no matter how controversial you are talent, beauty, and the charisma of a true star will always win out.

  12. Blaster says:

Hey Kaiser, I don’t know if anyone has emailed you or not but the site today is acting very weird. Like, takes a long time to load and when you click on the story it just shows the header picture and that’s it.

It’s done it many times now and it takes like 3 refreshes for it to work. Although, it could just be to traffic and if that’s the case, ignore this and congrats!

  13. Melanie says:

Yes, I love VF and read it in the bathtub! The header for that story was: Before Brangelina there was Liz N’ Dick.

  14. Trillion says:

Love that she named her cat Fang.

  15. Trillion says:

Oh, and that VF cover article is a must read for anyone who loves celebrity dish-and I know you do if you are reading this 🙂 and true romance.

  16. Jeri says:

Read the article – loved it and I love her. Her/their kind will never walk the earth again.

  17. Hautie says:

What I love about Elizabeth is that she owns all of her jewelry. The girl does not have to “borrow” any of it.

She has done alot of movies that I have loved, but my favorite is still “Giant”. She is gorgeous in that full technicolor movie.

  18. Kaiser says:

Blaster – The same thing was happening to me! The site is loading just fine in Chrome, but I can’t even see anything but a blank page on IE.

If people are having problems, I’m sorry! We’re trying to figure it out.

  19. BrandyMc says:

I am having the same problems with my page as well. I was having super issues with it yesterday too!

  20. normade says:

Cat on a hot tin roof and A Place in the sun are her best imo!

  21. Danielle says:

There was an old Liz movie on yesterday…I think it was called Rhapsody. Anyway, I watched it just so I could look at her…..amazingly beautiful.

  22. Dawn says:

Old school hollywood beauty. When I think of a real movie star I think of the lovely Ms. Taylor

  23. isabeau says:

I’d recommend watching “who’s afraid of virginia woolf” to anyone who has a penchant for old movies. Both Elizabeth and Mr. Burton are stunning…Mike Nichols directed. That one and “Giant”…James Dean’s last movie! She’s a classic dame.

  24. Q says:

The perfume thing really gets me – back before everyone had to have a perfume, she wanted to do it. Also she loves Mariska Hargitay, a totally underrated actor.

  25. Maritza says:

How sad that her very first memory is of pain. She was truly one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood.

  26. neena says:

they don’t make movie stars like they used to. elizabeth is awesome, and i love that she embraced her womanly figure. she’s a natural beauty, and it’s empowering to have her say that she’s not afraid of growing old.

  27. Kaiser says:

BrandyMC & Baster & Anyone else having problems with the site –

CB & I think it might the flash ads on the front page. They’ll probably be done in a few days, so I’m sorry! We’re looking into the problem. If you’re still having problems, just write to me about what problems you’re having:

  28. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

    I love Liz.

    That is all.

  29. OC lady says:

While I like Liz for her film roles, I find it amusing that others like her so much. When it’s Julia, Angelina, Tori, or LeAnne many will call them sluts or homewreckers. But Liz gets a pass? And, she broke up Eddie Fisher’s marriage and Burton’s too. That’s double homewrecker. I say it’s time to start screaming homewrecker at Liz too. 😉

  30. Mistral says:

I love Liz (sorry you hate the nickname, Liz :)).

If anyone hasn’t seen her movies, it is time to get some DVDs. Don’t wait for the remake (since that is all HWood does these days. Remake everything that ever was, poorly)…

  31. Kim says:

I lost respect for her when she stole her best friends husband. She has been married what 8-9 times! She is a mess.

  32. Lady LaLa says:

    Violet Eyes=Perfect Name!

  33. Seer says:

Elizabeth Taylor is one of those movie stars that are not obnxious and upsetting to look at. A lot of these celebrities act more like made-up characters. I see them, and I think “Oh, no! Not them again!and again! and again!”

It reminds me of what Christopher Walken once said: “I had an agent when I first got into the movies who said to me, ‘You’re gonna be in Los Angeles now once in a while. If somebody invites you to a party, don’t go. Stay in your room, go to the movies.’ And I have a feeling I know sort of what he meant: Don’t show your face around too much. Let ’em be a little glad to see you.”

  34. Sarah says:

She is an icon. Love her.

  35. viper says:

To all teh so called beauties of hollywood including monroe:

    EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!

You’re all dead and this femme is still kicking and kicking the 21rst centry beauties asses to boot!

  36. Jorja says:

I forget Elizabeth Taylor when I name the true beauties/movie stars of our time..but I don’t mean to..she is truly and naturally beautiful..yes she was married a thousand times but maybe we don’t dwell on it so much because she kept her private life PRIVATE. What I’ll always remember about her is that she married Richard twice..now that’s true love!

  37. furaskin says:

The photos above are “corrected”; i have the same with different and more realistic colours. Her eyes are mid dark blue with red flecks..That’s because people call them violet, but for sure you can’t see it in these bad photos.

  38. teehee says:

Back when women had meat on their bones. Looks WAY better, way way better.

  39. simplicity says:

I’ve enjoyed several of La Taylor’s films, but the one I find heartwarmingly pleasant is Little Women with Janet Leigh and June Allyson.

Liz and Debbie moved past the affair and became friendly enough to perform in a film together. They’ve both had a few negative words for their shared ex-husband. : )

  40. KIm says:

OC lady make sure you add Rita Wilson(Tom Hanks was married) and Joanne Woodard (Paul Newman was married to your homewrecker list. Then again since Paul and Tom left their wives Aren’t they the homewreckers?

  41. OC lady says:

@Kim. I was kidding. If you wanted to target ppl for being homewreckers, that could be 60% of all people. I don’t care about star’s personal lives. I like the ones I consider entertaining and dislike the ones I consider annoying/untalented. I leave their personal lives to their own conscience. I find the rabid involvement with celeb’s personal lives funny.

  42. I’m watching Cleopatra now it’s an amazing film and Elizabeth Taylor is stunningly beatiful.
The costumes & sets are phenominal.

  43. Linda says:

I have loved Elizabeth since I can remember, and I’m 66. She didn’t break up the Debbie-Eddie marriage, it was already on the rocks and she and Debbie are still friends as well as Debbie’s children, and I don’t think she broke the Burton marriage which was already on shaky ground. Her presence just revved up the inevitable. Elizabeth is a fabulous, fabulous woman and we will never ever see the likes of her ; God Bless Elizabeth Taylor and make her life happy and blessed.

  44. Anj says:

    Maggie the CAT. MEAOOOOOW!

  45. ~A says:

to the person who said, “A lot of these celebrities act more like made-up characters.” You should know that the studios back in the day strictly controlled the news stories about their stars — who were indeed “made-up characters.” Rock Hudson, for instance, had special beard dates/girlfriends to support his manly image when he was indeed gay. That said, I love Elizabeth Taylor.

  46. Chicoulina says:

Megan Fox has Elizabeth Taylor eyebrows!!
The eyebrows have totally changed her face and made her look stunning. Not alot of woman can have those eyebrows.
    Elizabeth Taylor!Timeless beauty.

  47. Dhavy says:

Actresses these days should take note-all the plastic surgery in the world would never substitute natural beauty. Women these days are so obsessed with looking thin and young that they make themselves look too fake

Actors now are known more for their personal lives than for their talent

  48. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

@Linda- your info about them being friends is wrong, also here is a link to a recent interview Reynolds interview.

    http://www.popeater.com/2010/04/23/debbie-reynolds-elizabeth-taylor/

  49. Seer says:

@A What I considered to be “made-up characters” is that they behave so far out and over the top that the only thing they don’t do are cartwheels and have their super hero capes on. How many people have you met that jump up on a couch, laugh like crazy people, and prance around like some half-assed show monkey?

I’ve always known about your definition of made-up characters. These people are walking business for everyone involved with them, so if they have to pretend to be someone they aren’t, I’m sure they have no problem with that ($$ money, money, money)

  50. valerie says:

…shes pretty and all but..shes still a homewrecker. sometimes being beautiful lets u get away w/ anything i guess..

  51. Jed Zupancic says:

I wish more people would write sites like this that are actually interesting to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is a great change of pace to read a site like yours instead.
