I’ve lost count of how many times there have been engagement reports for Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr. I remember there was something last year that claimed Orly proposed and Miranda accepted, and that stood for several days until Miranda had her publicist issue a harshly-worded denial. It was almost like Miranda was offended that people thought she was engaged. It was weird. Anyway, their reps are confirming it this time, so fingers crossed that Miranda doesn’t pull another “whoops, nevermind.”
It’s (finally!) official – Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are engaged, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.
The couple, who have been dating for almost three years, have dodged multiple engagement rumors throughout their relationship.
In November 2008, the model, 27, and British actor, 33, shot down a report in the Australian media that they were getting married. Six months later, the two kept fans guessing when Kerr was spotted with a sparkler on her left ring finger, though reps at the time had no comment.
When the two recently spent Thanksgiving together in Morocco, Bloom told reporters he and Kerr were “just enjoying our time together now” when asked if they were getting married anytime soon.
“He’s a sweetheart and that’s all I’m gonna say,” Kerr, who has talked about settling down and starting a family in the future, told PEOPLE in February 2008.
“My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch,” she told Page Six Magazine in 2008. “When this is all over, that’s where I’ll be. I’ve always wanted kids, so someday, eventually, yes, it will happen.”
The engagement news was first reported by Entertainment Tonight.

Let’s see… Orly is 33 years old with a downward spiral career and a dirt lip, and Miranda is 27 years old with a solid modeling career that probably has another five years with “supermodel” status. They seem surprisingly well matched, and I think that if and when they do walk down the aisle, it will probably be a pretty happy marriage. Congratulations to the happy couple. I see a winter wedding in Australia.

He is gay and has no career left. She has had a modicum of success but she’s not top tier even in Victoria’s Secret anymore. This is what C-list people like them do when the press hasn’t been around as much lately.

Things are actually looking up for both of them. Orlando is going to be a bad guy in the 3 Musketeers film. He’s a good campy bad guy. He did an episode of Midsomer Murders years ago (before LOTR) where he got stabbed with a pitchfork.
And Miranda is on the cover of the current GQ. So maybe they’re not as famous as when Orlando was with Kate, but at least they’re both working

Visually, I really like this couple (I say that because they seem to be very private, and none of us knows much about them) lol.
I just hope that unlike MANY other celebrity couples (Carolina Kurkova, Lance Armstrong, I’m talking to you!) they can actually keep in in their pants and wait untill AFTER they’re married to start having kids…
*Now, before people jump down my throat about this, I fully understand that you don’t HAVE to be married to procreate, but if you are already engaged TO BE MARRIED, why not just wait?

I think they’re both lovely and down-to-earth. Orlando’s career is fine. He has, I believe, five movies in various stages of production. And she *is* still top-tier at Victoria Secret. I was shopping online yesterday, and I noticed she was always on the first page of every major link I click on. I wish them both happiness.

They seem perfectly inoffensive, I think she’s gorgeous, I’m sort of meh on Orlando past Legolas. He needs to gain about 20 lbs. of muscle and do something with that hair (facial and otherwise). Otherwise, they never seem to do anything awful, so I wish them well.
