Kate Gosselin on the cover of OK!: 10 pounds in 10 days

kategosselinok1
Kate Gosselin has earned her second OK! cover in three weeks with this latest “10 pounds in 10 days” story. I thought we were on our way to being rid of her, but like the Kardashians she just keeps popping up and using her sad personal life to promote something. Two weeks ago Kate earned an OK! cover with the news that she might date again and now she’s bragging about her fast weight loss. Many of us want to shed pounds fast for summer but I doubt there are few desperate enough to take advice from Kate Gosselin. Still, I spotted 3 people with that old beaver haircut of hers while traveling through the south over the weekend so she must have some influence.

Here’s OK!’s teaser story, complete with an all-caps reminder to check out the issue:

Mother of eight Kate Gosselin has her sexiest, most toned body at age 35 — and she’s feeling great about it! After she got voted off Dancing With the Stars on April 20 and returned home to Wernersville, Pa., Kate was concerned she’d lose the tone she’d worked so hard for. So she stepped up her workouts, began running a hilly 4-mile course three times a week and honed her eating plan to make her body leaner.

“Kate has kicked her routine into overdrive. Dancing With the Stars set her in motion, but she’s now even thinner than she was on the show,” says an insider.

[From OK! Magazine]

I don’t care how skinny Kate gets, I don’t want to look like her. I don’t see how people find her attractive at all. Getting back to the story, it’s just not healthy to lose 10 pounds in 10 days. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve done it with a lot of exercise and healthy eating, but it never lasts for me and the weight loss ends up evening out to about 2-3 pounds a week anyway. It’s more realistic and sustainable to lose weight gradually.

Meanwhile Kate went out running wearing only a sports bra and alerted the paparazzi to capture her surgically enhanced spraytan abs. US Weekly has the photo and asks if her abs are airbrushed on. They quote experts who conclude that it’s a lot of hard work along with an even spray tan. It doesn’t matter how buff Kate Gosselin gets, she’ll still have her personality to overshadow whatever budget look she’s able to achieve.

Kate Gosselin seems to be resorting to retail therapy after her tearful departure from Dancing With The Stars as she did some shopping at Anne Taylor in New York City, New York on April 22, 2010. Fame Pictures, Inc

10 lbs in 10 days is too much unless you are very overweight, which she was not.
She may tone up her body, but I think her bitch face (and personality) is permanent.

  2. Oi says:

    Same headline, different celeb.

  3. Sarah says:

Ugh, I’m really sick of seeing her and I’m with you, she is noooooooot attractive. The plastic surgeons did an improvment on her from what she first looked like but she’s still ugg to me. http://buzzdemon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/kate-gosselin-before-and-after.jpg

  4. jen says:

But what about her new eyes??? They look so bad!!!

  5. Laurie says:

She probably lost 10 lbs in 10 days worrying about the botched Botox job!
And she was worried about losing the tone she got from DWTS?! I didn’t know walking on the dance floor gave her so much tone!!

  6. zen says:

10 lbs in 10 days in BS. If anything it’s only water loss that will all come back within a few days. These celebs diet stories crack me up because you will see them heavier again in a few weeks. Then the stories of rapid weight gain come out, then another crash diet scam and then back on the cover to tell how it was lost again… and then cycle will continue.

  7. Marjalane says:

Oh my- that before picture of Kate was disturbing! It is AMAZING what you can do to yourself with enough $$$! It’s no wonder that every soccer mom in America is in awe of Kate- they can totally see themselves in her! She’s still a completely unlikeable person, and she needs to cool it on the botox and eye jobs, but she’s definitely better looking than she was.

  8. Toe says:

She looks good on that OK mag picture.

  9. Larissa says:

OMG, she is starting to look like Dina Lohan, A LOT!

  10. snowball says:

I wish they’d have put up a cover of her new FACE!

    Somewhere, Tony is laughing…

I’m a mom of one independent, about to be off on his own kid, but I’ve got housework, a job, all kinds of crap to do and bills to pay. I don’t have time to get (and maintain) a weave, a mani-pedi, a fake tan, a tummy tuck, Botox, write a book, work on a couple television shows, fly all over the place, maybe develop a dating show. Who the F is playing mommy to her kids? (rhetorical question)

Sorry @Marjalane. I was a soccer mom and not only am I not in awe of this person, I do not and will not ever see myself in her. There’s more to being a mom than looking good. I take care of myself, keep in shape and certainly am no slob, but if it came down to taking a jog or heading to the spray tan booth or spending that hour hanging around the house chilling with my kids who haven’t seen me in weeks because I’ve been off doing a crap ass book tour, my butt would be home and I’d hit the treadmill and sit in the backyard with them instead.

  11. Relli says:

Her hair is starting to resemble Dog The Bounty Hunter.

  12. di butler says:

Not sure I understood the comment on seeing Kate Gosselin’s old hair style in the South. I sure hope the implication wasn’t that Southern women are stupid. I am sure I read that incorrectly. BTW, I saw that hairstyle several times recently myself-In Bejing.

  13. denise says:

If that is Kate on the cover, looks nothing like her, at all.

  14. snowball says:

@denise – that is her. With her new face. Seriously.

  15. Grace says:

It would be so nice to be able to make it through an entire day without seeing that woman’s face plastered all over the Internet, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon.

And she looked 10 times better before she started trying to look like a celebrity. I used to think she was attractive, in a wholesome, ordinary, Mom kind of way – but now she just looks like a tacky, white-trash, desperate cliche.

  16. This is exactly what I just wrote about today: No More Kate Gosselin Magazine Covers! http://su.pr/3n0lY0

It is a letter to People and OK! Magazines. No one cares about a 35-year-old house frau living in Central, PA. It is depressing.

  17. GatsbyGal says:

Ugh, her new face looks so pulled and super-bitchy. I hate this stupid broad.

  18. Feebee says:

She looks good in the sports bra photo. I think it’s all real because she looks to have lost weight around her hips and upper arms also… everywhere shown in the picture except her boobs and we all know why that is.

I don’t begrudge her her figure but I know it takes a lot of work and time to get and maintain unless she’s been really athletic in the past, hmmmm. Well she has so much help with the kids I guess she has the time.

  19. qb says:

Thats water weight , you can loose that by going at the gym and sweating your ass of but you will gain it back a couple of hours later.

Heck , I know of profighters that cut 20 pounds of water weight in 1 or 2 days and then gain it back in a day.

  20. Bee says:

Now if she could just lose the other 120?, and completely disappear.

  21. denise says:

    @ Snowball

YIkes! I thought it was a bad photoshop.

    LOL@ Bee

  22. Atticus says:

@di butler – I don’t read that at all as saying southern people are stupid. The author was traveling in the south when she saw the haircut on others. Like you saw the haircut in Asia…so are you calling Asians stupid?

I don’t see a problem with Kate finally having the time to do things for herself. Her twins are 8 or 9, and the little kids just turned 6. She probably has plenty of time for exercise and getting her hair done while they’re in school. And you know what, she has a couple of TV shows, has books out, does speaking appearances. She’s a public figure and she acts like one. Whether or not she’s likable is neither here nor there, fact is she is a celebrity and she sells magazines. If you had your picture taken constantly, you’d probably want to try to look your best too.

  23. Heaven-bound says:

    This woman is repulsive!

Do we need this hag to educate us on how we can “loose weight,”? When we have at our fingertips the advice of REAL nutritionist, trainers, doctors, etc.. I just cant stand that these mags think we are stupid.
I dont need any advice from her of any kind, I have better style, dance better, look better and I am a better mom than this twit will ever be. She actually should be taking advice from me or any of you lovely intelligent ladies from CB 😉

  24. benny says:

You cannot lose 10 pounds in a week. What happens is you simply lose water and dehydrate your body – which doesn’t last (as soon as you replenish the water the weight comes right back) and is unhealthy.

Here’s the math: each pound is 3,500 calories. To lose one pound you have to burn 3,500 more calories than you eat.

Let’s say you really wanted to lose one pound a day. You CAN do it, IF you ate nothing at all (0 calories) and jogged for 10 hours straight (350 calories per hour). That way, you just burned 3,500 more calories than you ate. Try doing that for one week — you’d be dead.

Whenever you hear celebrities make these ridiculous claims about losing one pound per day, just remember the simple math: 3,500 calories per pound. Then you’ll see how their “diets” are full of shit.

  25. a says:

they tried to get the best angle possible to avoid her new nicholson face. good photo pick!

  26. Jeri says:

    Oink. Oink.

  27. original kate says:

please, for the love of god, people, stop saying “loose weight.” “loose” means something is too big; “lose” means something is lost. remember: if you lose weight your pants will be loose. sorry, just a mistake i see all the time and it makes me insane.

also, it is totally possible to lose 10 lbs in a week: stop eating and take dieuretics/laxatives. you can pee/poop out a pound a day. of course it will come right back but i suspect celebs do it before award shows, photo shoots, etc.

  28. Captaine says:

Why are my comments continually being deleted???! wtf lol!

  29. guilty pleasures says:

lol @ original kate, I have had to ‘loose’ my tight grip on spellink and grammars so I don’t go insane reading things on the Internets.
It makes me both sad and angry that we, as a collective group, are so incredibly stupid. I never allowed my children to use net language when writing. They have both graduated in the 90% level and are in 1st year and 2nd year university. Expect more, don’t let the ‘system’ only teach your kids, because most will end up as literary bottom feeders.
I keep myself sane by assuming all poor grammar comes from ESL people, who are much better than I for at least attempting a second language.
Re Kate, stop trying to make us care about her average self. She is not anyone I would model anything I do after. She needs to go away now. I worked full time at assisting TWO children to be above average, hers are currently doomed to mediocrity at best.

  30. Corina says:

@di butler – I think the implication was that there is one fashion stupid person in the South who gave their kid a ridiculous haircut. Not anything about all women in the South – or necessarily any woman in the South. For all we know the kid hacked his own hair and Kate’s beaver updo was the only viable option to attempt to tame it. Which is, in my opinion, the only justification for ever sporting that pseudo mullet.

  31. Corina says:

Ok I read that as a 3 year old with a Kate haircut, not 3 people with it. So on the plus side, maybe no small children are being subjected to that ‘do. On the negative side, there are apparently 3 people in the South and several people in Bejing who think it looks good?

  32. zen says:

omg to Anastasia’s link and a big ewww to the untouched Kate running pic.

what a difference between a p-shopped running photo and an actual one.
Amazes me what make-up and p-shop can do for one’s pics.

  33. Heaven-bound says:

@ Original Kate and Guilty pleasures

One misspelled word and such a rant! I’m sure you are perfect and never make a mistake.

And to say that we are collectively stupid, wow! Chill out, this is a gossip site, we are not trying to write english essays here. This site is for fun ladies.

  34. original kate says:

i repeatedly see people mixing up loose and lose; just pointing it out. it wasn’t directed at you specifically, so you should probably chill out.

and by the way, writing “This site is for fun ladies” is super creepy. sounds very porno, just so you know.

  35. Heaven-bound says:

    @ Original Kate,

The only creep here is you! take your mind out of the gutter. Sounds like you have some experience….. And you should always capitalize after a period. You must not have learned much in elementary school.

  36. Emily says:

@original kate, “this site is for fun ladies” sounds more like spam from a dating site for lesbians, to me.

  37. Nobody says:

Why can’t ppl just back off? Ppl attack her like she’s a killer or rapist. Ppl are sooo judgmental.

Nice to know everyone else looks perfect and has a perfect life and perfect personality so that they can bash anyone else.

  38. benny says:

“Why can’t ppl just back off?”

Hey, I’m not the one who put her on the cover of a tabloid for everyone to see and comment on. I’m sure she got paid well to be the topic of tabloid discussions. That was HER choice, not mine. And so long as people like her continue to try to tell others that you can lose 10 pounds in 10 days, I’m gonna continue to call bullshit on it. One pound equals 3,500 calories. You do the math, if you can. Apparently, Kate isn’t capable of that kind of math or she wouldn’t sell this kind of bullshit story.

  39. kelbear says:

They should of showed what she looked like within the first yr of the sextuplets being born. That would be scary.

  40. CB Rawks says:

I want to see her freaky botox brows again! Has she had those fixed yet?

  41. Joy in living comes from having fine emotions, trusting them, giving them the freedom of a bird in the open. Joy in living can never be assumed as a pose, or put on from the outside as a mask. People who have this joy don not need to talk about it; they radiate it. They just live out their joy and let it splash its sunlight and glow into other lives as naturally as bird sings.
