A designer.. being a pretentious queeny twat... and dictating who should wear their "creations"; how novel *rolleyes*

(I DO like McQueen, but could we just gaffer-tape his gob?)

Well done.

McQueen is just a bit provocative. He definitely doesn't need the publicity stunt of saying that Paris Hilton is banned. He'll get enough potential clients showing up.

I'd like to add, however, that Paris Hilton and some others of that "kind" are banned from many runway shows.
Let's just say they are on the "not be given seats to, no matter what" list.

Whoever shows up at your party, store opening or catwalk show determines a lot in the fashion business.
The press would focus on Paris being there and it would certainly take away a lot of credibility of McQueen's work.
Look at the front rows at fashion shows such as Chanel (whether it is the RTW collection or the Haute Couture) : people are being selected in a very drastic and "tasteful" way.

This is how the industry works and how one remains a "serious value".

As for expensive clothes being superficial... I'm afraid that any form of art (visual or not) would be superficial too.
The protective aspect of clothes has since long changed. It used to determine social classes and now it has become some display of wealth (virtual or real, the wealth).

But real high fashion is art. Purely and simply.
The big stores with the "it" items and the monogrammed wallets are just the "food" of the art part of the fashion business. Without selling such designer hits, no designer could put out a line of real avant-garde clothes.

McQueen is a genius. If he doesn't want his work associated with certain a HTM that's good enough for me. She worked hard to make her rep let her enjoy it. That goes for both of them!

I don't agree with the way he said it but I can understand not wanting Paris Hilton at an event. She brings negative attention wherever she goes and manages to make everything about her. Although I would have enjoyed it more if he said she was banned for life.

Bellatrix - Agree on his talent but think he'd probably have been better off not to say anything at all since he's now coming across as a bit of a pretentious twat. Since she's beneath contempt, it would have been better to not even acknowledge her in the first place.

I think he doesn't mind big RESPECTABLE names.... but he doesn't want some superficial "ohh thats hot" kind of girl there. I could see why he wouldn't want her to like his stuff. I was upset when I saw Paris wearing L.A.M.B once cause i love that brand and it made me upset she wore it.

Well, what can I say? I'm a McQueen lover. If I were an incredible designer, I'd rather not have my store opening spoiled by some tranny either (just to use Christian Siriano vocabulary).

When in Fashion...

They are just as lame as each other... it's like the 'in' thing right now in Hollywood to hate Paris Hilton. I think the best option is to ignore her entirely, and don't make a big thing of banning her from the store.
