Lindsay Lohan’s second lawyer quits, she’s due to turn herself in at 8:30 PST

Lindsay Lohan is possibly headed to jail today and is due to turn herself in at 8:30 local time in Los Angeles. Her lawyer, Robert Shapiro, has not issued a last-minute appeal, and has instead quit representing her, much like her last lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley. Holley is thought to be back by default, though. It turns out that when Holley quit working for Lohan two weeks ago she neglected to sign the paperwork to officially remove herself as counsel. So now she may have to deal with some last minute drama due to her own negligence, just like Lohan.

As for why Shapiro quit, E! News has it down to Lindsay’s irresponsible and disrespectful behavior while she was staying in the “sober house” he founded. They report that she had people over all the time and was generally disruptive. It’s not known at this time whether Lindsay will issue a last minute appeal and who exactly will be representing her. Given the way she ended up receiving jail time in the first place – by consistently messing up the multiple chances she’d been given, I think it’s safe to assume that she’ll be unsuccessful if she even manages to scratch together an appeal.

Here’s more from E!

On the eve of her surrender, the jail-bound starlet’s incoming attorney, former O.J. Simpson defender Robert Shapiro, stepped down following a private meeting with the judge who’s been presiding over Lohan’s case, reports the L.A. Times.

Shapiro publicly acknowledged just days ago that he was representing the troubled actress on the condition that she comply “with all of the terms of her probation, including a requirement of jail time.”

She’s due to turn herself in tomorrow, so what went wrong?!

Last week, she checked into Pickford Lofts, a sober-living house started by Shapiro after he lost his son Brent to a drug overdose in 2005. Shapiro was spotted heading into the building on Thursday, as was Lohan’s assistant.

Though ostensibly a positive step, it may have been Lohan’s brief stay at the Los Angeles residence that made things worse. A source tells E! News that Shapiro was not happy with her behavior there.

“She was unruly,” the source says. “She was having people over at all hours of the night. She acted like she ran the place.”

[From E! Online]

Radar Online has more from The Deputy District Attorney, who vows to fight an appeal if Lohan manages to mount one. The Deputy DA tells Radar that she should have been informed about a meeting Shapiro had with Lindsay’s judge yesterday. It’s thought that Shapiro told Judge Revel in chambers that he was no longer representing Lohan. She was moving out of his sober living house around that same time.

This girl could have potentially put off going to jail a few months if she even bothered to mount an appeal. She didn’t manage to secure a lawyer willing to deal with her drama in time, though, and picked a guy who made a public statement that he would represent her only if she went to jail. She managed to piss him off somehow, is still headed to jail, and we don’t even know who will be representing her as she’s hauled off amid a circus of camera crews and paparazzi.

Lohan recently tweeted that she’s scared of jail and wrote “the only “bookings” that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i’d be “booking” into Jail… eeeks.” It’s surprising that she even remembers her bookings for Disney movies, considering how she’s addled her brain in the five years since she’s done one. The latest news on her upcoming film, Inferno, is that she’ll show full frontal nudity but that it will be “violent nudity,” according to the film’s director. He compared it to “linked images of the Vietnam war โ€“ that kind of context.” We’ve already heard that the film will involve violent, degrading scenes for Lindsay’s porn star character, Linda Lovelace. All Lindsay remembers are her Disney bookings, though.

Oh and TMZ has details of what Lindsay can expect in jail. She’ll be housed in the solitary confinement area, where she’ll be alone around 20 hours a day. She will be allowed to shower every other day and exercise three times a week. It’s not known whether she’ll be able to take any of her prescribed medication.

Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.00

  2. YT says:

Well, I give Shapiro credit for keeping Lindsay and Dina quiet for a few days, then more credit for washing his hands of Lindsay. His people must have given him some really bad reports about her stay at Pickford Lofts.

If she makes it to jail, I’m hoping she doesn’t have time taken off for good behavior. She doesn’t know how to behave well.

  3. bellaluna says:

Why am I not surprised? Do any professional toes even exist that she hasn’t managed to step on?

I am counting the minutes to 8:30! ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. mojoman says:

The fact that she can still tweets days before going to the clinks just dumbfounding. And look at Dina’s smug face, please prove me wrong but looks like she is lovin’ every minute of it. Deal with your “sick child” you famewh*re, useless, no good of a mother!! GAH! can she be more obnoxious?!

  5. Jazz says:

All this sober house crap is just so the judge will go easy on her. I hope the judge greases up her gavel and shoves it fair up Lindsay’s ass!!

  6. Vanessa says:

I think Lindsay is so talented. I don’t understand why she is doing this to herself. My hope is that they will let her go early and she will change her life around. ๐Ÿ™

  7. CB Rawks says:

I feel physically ill, like my blood pressure is rising from the anger. I hope that little b*tch has a horrible time in jail.
Even though we know damn well it will be as cushy as a fricken slumber party. I wish they would throw her in with all the other inmates.

  8. CB Rawks says:

Lindsay is like that evil video tape in The Ring, that everyone wants to try to pass off so they don’t get stuck with it and die.
Or like a game of Pass the Parcel, only the parcel is filled with crusty feces.

  9. Paul E. Stanley says:

How bad must you be when the man who hung in and defended OJ for murder, won’t even defend you on probation violation. That speaks volumes about Lindseys character. I think it really validates and lot about what is reported about her. If I’m not mistaken, the same kind of reports came from the last rehab center she was at a few years ago.

  10. Po says:

Not shocked at all. I was starting to wonder if Shapiro’s rehab was real in the first place if it was allowing her to have people in and out like that. I think he really thought she wanted to help herself though and the bad part about it, for her at least, is that he probably had a plan to get her released before the 22 days. He was probably trying to show the judge she could change by laying low. She couldn’t manage to do it.

  11. Jackson says:

Oh the drama of it all. Shawn Chap Holly must be kicking herself about now, dontcha think? There just better not be some last minute weirdness go down where this chick doesn’t get tossed in jail today. The fact that she has to go before the judge before reporting to jail is odd, from what I’ve read elsewhere. Hopefully she’ll put on a better performance than the last time she was there. Hmmm, wonder if she got her nails done again??

  12. Twez says:

I seriously doubt she is going to report to jail as she should. I’m having visions of a low-speed chase in a white Bronco.

  13. sapphire says:

Anyone else think that this was done to ramp up the drama or is the crack queen just incapable of keeping it together?

I think the worst penalty is she won’t be able to tweet, have photo ops or create chaos in the cell.

  14. logan says:

If Robert S. could talk (and he won’t) he would say it’s because the entire family is bat s#@t crazy.
I have a new found respect for the man.

  15. Crash2GO2 says:

She is such a jerk. She is going to die alone in a gutter somewhere.

  16. Shay says:

It’s not as though Lindsay fills the acting void. There are so many other actresses out there with more talent.
    Meh.

  17. JPX says:

What’s so funny is that she is only going to have to spend 20 days or so locked up, what’s the big deal? She’s expending so much energy resisting this. I wouldn’t mind some solitary time in life. I’d just read books and enjoy the silence. Moreover, when she gets out all her friends and family will pamper her, further reinforcing her entitled behavior. If there was one voice of reason in her life it would say, “You messed up, now do your time and learn from your mistakes!” Instead she’ll get hugs and kisses.

Not with a family like hers! They’ll all be around her deathbed each trying to get her to sign a will leaving her estate to them alone.

Jail might be the only way to sober this mess up. I hope she serves every minute of it for her own good.
Looking forward to a Lindsanity free August!

  19. gracie says:

Lindsay is starting to remind me of this chick from Sober House, Season Two:
    Kari Ann Peniche.

OMG what a totally entitled, spoiled, rude, b*tch this chick was…and how when someone said something she didn’t want to hear, she’d wave her hand at them and pretty much tell them to GO AWAY.

I am thinking that Lindsay is becoming more and more like that. Not listening to anyone. Being rude and obnoxious.
Living in her oblivious little bubble where nothing is taken seriously.

  20. katyalia says:

@ Vanessa: ‘My hope is that they will let her go early and she will change her life around.’ It’s a safe bet that these two are mutually exclusive though.

Ms. Holly probably went on a 2 week bender after telling the judge & Lohan that she quit. Will she be sorry to find out that due to missing paperwork she’s back in the game. Probably for good, as I don’t expect any practicing lawyer to touch that case again.

And I’m still thinking that Lohan has not paid a single bill from any of the lawyers who represent her, fly cross-country for her, put her in their rehab facilities, etc. Can’t wait for those lawsuits to happen…

  21. Embee says:

Sadly, it sems that jail is the best thing that could happen to this poor child. I recently dealt with a family member who was taking too much ADD meds (they were overprescribed but the patient was also abusing) an it shocked me how bad the behavior became. It also stopped about two weeks after going cold turkey. I hope Lindsay gets a similar improvement and there’s not been permanent damage to her brain. Of course, with her family she’s unlikely to get the additional support she’ll need to recover. Which brings me back to how sad it is that jail is the most positive thing for this little girl.

  22. constance says:

Wonderful horsey face Dina. I hope she enjoys the shit out of jail!

  23. Cheyenne says:

    Go to jail.
    Go directly to jail.
    Do not pass Go.
    Do not collect $200.

  24. Eileen Yover says:

How can someone who is in solitary confinement for 20 hours a day get off early for “good behavior”? WTH bad things can you do in a locked cell all by yourself?? If she was forced to clean, work and be responsible in there than I could see them letting her go early.

  25. dread pirate cuervo says:

How much you wanna bet that by noon Pacific, Dina is hawking “free Lindsay” t-shirts at Kitson?

  26. lucy2 says:

Sounds like the standard guess is that she’ll do 25% of her time, about 3 weeks, which is typical of all non-violent sentencings in LA. Of course, when you’re an addict and a spoiled, raging beyotch, 3 weeks with only yourself for company is probably plenty of punishment.

Her attitude is appalling. She had a hire powered attorney trying to keep her in line and probably working for free (anticipating $$$ after her stint in jail) and now she has no one – just the first attorney who dumped her already but didn’t bother to fill out the proper papers. Not sounding hopeful for her, is it?
Sadly I don’t think anything will get through to this girl. Her behavior and attitude will never let her get to the point of truly going through rehab and getting better.

  27. andrea says:

well i guess shapiro knows what he’s doing, altho it does seem odd for him to be meeting with the judge when he’s not even officially representing her.

also, nice try bringing up disney as if all her projects are squeaky clean – honey, you are a long way from that image.

  28. flourpot says:

He quit?? LOL. And her original lawyer forgot to sign her own release form? LOL. And Linds is actually going to do time? LOL. My husband made a fresh pot of coffee? LOL. What a great day it’s turning out to be.

  29. tripmom says:

Shawn Chapman Holley did not fail to file paperwork. She was not legally allowed to quit and leave Lohan without legal representation until a new lawyer signed on. Shapiro never filed paperwork with the court assigning himself as her new attorney, so Holley has no choice but to continue to represent her. Totally unfair to be bashing her when she’s fulfilling her professional obligations. Shapiro should have filed the paperwork formally switching representation, but didn’t because he probably had no intention of actually repping Lindsay and just used her for publicity. The guy is a scumbag.

  30. Majosha says:

Has this girl ever been able to function without the assistance of someone else? Solitary confinement is going to be a hell of a wakeup call, especially if she’s going to be detoxing at the same time (assuming she’s not able to get her hands on any narcotics in prison). Buh-bye, b*tch!

  31. Green Is Good says:

Robert Shapiro doesn’t look well at all. This is what happens when you have to deal with the LOWhans and their delusions of grandeur.

  32. nolanative says:

dayum, nothing says hot azz mess like having the dude that rep’d a sociopath quit on you. Way to go lilo. I got 50 bucks that says she’s gonna run or just not show up. Grab the popcorn folks, this is gonna be good.

  33. Obvious says:

I’m with Tripmom, leave Shawn alone. By law she couldn’t leave LiLo lawyer less. Shapiro didn’t file the paperwork and now Shawn is left holding the delusional bag.

I want to see her cracked out face when they take her away!!!

  34. hanh says:

Well, she’s not going to change until she hits rock bottom and she is well on her way! That says alot that no lawyer wants to represent her. She can’t even treat the people who are trying to help her well enough for them to stay.

Very sad! Hope she hits rock bottom soon so she can fix herself up. She used to be such a great actress.

  35. gloaming says:

Just watched it live on TMZ.

    She’s off to the clink!!

  36. Lem says:

    WELL… THAT… was very anticlimactic

I think it’d be great it TMZ had live feed of the jail cell ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. Jello says:

She used to be a hot young talent, then an entertaining hot mess. Now the whole situation is just sad, truly sad. Maybe Brittany’s dad should step in? (just kidding.) But is there anybody that can stop LL’s self perpetuating train wreck?

  38. lrm says:

Shapiro and all of these people-wanting to represent an addict who does not admit she is an addict…ugh.

i was wondering, when he said he wanted to help her-why is ANYONE surprised when she continues acting the same way?

She doesn’t want help, doesn’t think she needs help, doesn’t ask for help…
addiction 101-you cannot help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves.

Denial, yes. Delusion, yes. So, why are people offering their services for something LL does not believe she needs? That will only end badly.

Her mother sucks-i’m even more repulsed at her mother than at her. She makes me want to vomit. and i wish we would stop seeing her ugly mug everyone. i’m sorry, too, but LL does not look older or worse than her mother-that old hag. god-she’s gross. a gross enabling codependent b*tch.

who the hell makes a stink about a carvel icecream card, where nepotisim is not allowed?

  39. mollination says:

20 hours alone a day for 22 days would drive me insane! I almost think solitary would be more miserable then sharing, and at least having someone to talk to. She may not be getting the full 90 days or the awful punishment we all believe she deserves, but if she really does serve 22 days (and of course, assuming she’s not allowed to pop her Oxycontin-candy all day) that will be pretty damn miserable.

I’m hoping her last minute trip to rehab before jail is a sign that she tried to ween herself off pills before jail because she knows she’s not allowed to have them there. That’s a helluva withdrawel — yikes.

  40. Jeri says:

Yup, the other lawyers never did the paperwork, but maybe they wanted to be paid.

I wonder if jail will change her. Same ole Paris Hilton, no improvement there. Maybe with rehab, at least we can hope.

  41. CB Rawks says:

flourpot, you made me LOL also! ๐Ÿ˜€

  42. CB Rawks says:

@Jeri, that’s my concern too, that it won’t change her. It’s not enough time to improve her at all.

  43. Cazzi Enormi says:

I really enjoyed this article. Keep up your cool work.

  44. Great post. I was checking constantly this blog and I’m inspired! Very helpful info specially the last part ๐Ÿ™‚ I handle such info much. I used to be seeking this particular information for a very long time. Thank you and good luck.
