I think those who are messed up in their head is the people who perceive men as objects without any free will when it suits them…i mean the man wasn’t a object when he got into a relationship but he is suddenly objectify when he get oyt of the same relationship. How convenient.

Those are the people who need to look inside themselves and how messed up their brains functionning because it is very GRAVE, INSULTING and REDUCING to perceive a human being, man or woman as equal to an object without hability to think for themselves and to make his/her own decision in her/his journey of life. It’s dehumaniing and objectifiying.

Nobody adult belong to anyone or possess any other person/adult. Men or women are not pets that you possess.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the story about her Mom was true. AJ is obviously messed up in the head, at least when it comes to relationships with men. Why does she feel the need to steal attached men? I’m no shrink but she seems to personify the expression “still waters run deep.” Always acting like everything is perfect. No one’s life is ever perfect. The more people say it is the less I believe them.

Gatsby Gal, I’ve often wondered about this myself. Classic signs of sexual abuse (not just the cutting, but the hyper-sexualized persona, the all-or-nothing relationships, etc.) I never considered it might be her father, but I’ve definitely thought it could have been someone else.

Women/girls who are sexually abused usually don’t say anything to anyone. The often feel guilt. They’re afraid of being blamed or being screamed at for even implying it.

Just listen to the fevered pitch that one comment, framed as a theory, created here. It’s totally understandable that she would keep it a secret.

Some people seem to have interpreted your theory as an attack on Angie, as if she would have been to blame (mimif #77 above for one) as opposed to an attack on Voigt.

I agree that throwing out random theories as fact is dangerous and irresponsible, but I think you and others made it abundantly clear that they were only theories.

If Voight did indeed abuse her mother (or her): it’s very beguiling to have someone with whom you desperately want a relationship to come to you and say they’ve changed and that abuse was an isolated incident and was due to drugs and alcohol, etc. and that they’ve changed. That explains why she might continue a relationship with him despite his past, and allow him to be with the children. And yeah, if he thought she might reveal anything bad about her in an interview, I could definitely see him trying to discredit her.

I really appreciate those who spoke up and said we should be careful throwing theories around, but
I don’t get the feeling you or others brought this theory up to hurt her or him or to be salacious. I think this kind of thing should be discussed, as theory, when it seems appropriate.

Who knows, maybe someone will recognize some of these signs in a girl and actually try to help her through it.

Yeah, and that’s what I’m doing, I’m making a guess. I never said “this definitely happened, and this is why.” I said, “this is my hypothesis, my own personal opinion, and it may not be correct, but this is why I think this way.”

I don’t believe she was molested by her father although she may have been molested by someone else. If her father did molest her I doubt she would let him within a thousand miles of her own children, especially the girls!
