@Pookie: Being thankful for your family is a very nice takeaway!

As to what (possibly) knocked Gibson over the edge: many abusers finally show their true colors when a woman is pregnant or there’s a new baby. She suddenly becomes more dependent, is more vulnerable, etc. So his need to win her over by behaving himself decreases– just as everyone’s stress increases. It can be a perfect storm. I forget the statistics, but it’s shocking how many victims of abuse are pregnant or new moms.

@Crash – I’ll give you that. She most likely wasn’t in it for very long. Weird, they have been together three years, and it doesn’t really start to hit the fan until this January? I wonder if he was being more subtle in his abuse/control and then something just knocked his crazy ass over the edge? Just makes me very thankful for the healthy and happy family I have been blessed with.

I don’t agree with you 100% though. There is nothing in Oksana’s history to make us think that she was a foil for abusive relationships. Remember, they never start out that way, and abusers are VERY good at presenting well for a long time until you are emotionally involved with them before it starts. It is entirely possible for a psychologically healthy woman to get into such a relationship and take some time to extricate herself. The fact that Oksana DID get out, and relatively quickly, makes me think that she is basically psychologically healthy. She might benefit from some counseling after what she has been through, however.

@Crash: Oh, original Kate. Do tell! What is ‘normal’? Because if you know, you should be a life coach. Really.

That wasn’t Kates message, it was Mary Janes. Kate was countering that Mel was not a normal man. Don’t worry, Kate is on your side!

I am no life coach, but I don’t think people who are healthy and happy and self-respecting stay with abusers and take their crap on a daily basis. For whatever reason, they are broken in their own way and need help. I am not saying abuse is deserved, but if you can’t walk away from it, yeah, common sense dictates that the abused needs help just as much as the abuser.

Mel is the the bad guy, period !.

How can an adult wishes his partner to abuse and have some kind of peadophilic behaviour towards her son baffles my mind and that is precisely what he did.

And this man wants to raise his child ? Please, he has those nasty peado ideas, he often uses derogatory words with sexual conotations applied to a 12 year old child. He is likely to be a danger to his own child just by abusing the mother an the half brother mixing verbal violence and depraved sexuality FOR THE BOTH of them !

Sickenning through and through!

If someone with that much power and money and violence was threatening to take away our baby, i wonder what I would resort to to ensure that baby stayed with me and was protected? Extreme measures I think. Nicely going to a lawyer and arranging to share paternity would not be the way to go in this case methinks.

NEW YORK – The Anti-Defamation League on Monday s l a m m e d filmmaker Oliver Stone for comments he made to the Sunday Times in the U.K., calling them anti-Semitic.
Abraham Foxman, ADL national director, said:
“Oliver Stone has once again shown his conspiratorial colors with his comments about “Jewish domination of the media” and control over U.S. foreign policy. His words conjure up some of the most stereotypical and conspiratorial notions of undue Jewish power and influence.”

Stone issued an apology Monday afternoon. “In trying to make a broader historical point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret,” Stone said in a statement.

When asked in an interview with the Sunday Times of London why there was “such a focus on the Holocaust,” Stone replied: “The Jewish domination of the media.” He added: “They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has f***** up United States foreign policy for years.”

The American Jewish Committe also weighed in Monday, comparing Stone to Mel Gibson. “By invoking this grotesque, toxic stereotype, Oliver Stone has outed himself as an anti-Semite,” said AJC Executive Director David Harris. “For all of Stone’s progressive pretensions, his remark is no different from one of the drunken, Jew-hating rants of his fellow Hollywood celebrity, Mel Gibson.”

The poor boy looks so sad. And Oksana looks exceptionally thin. Timothy Dalton looks good, but he should shed the spare tire around his middle. Oh, and by the way, Mel Gibson is the devil. The devil, I say. I wish to God he’d move back to Australia. America doesn’t need his kind.
