Katy Perry is still around. Is anyone else with me in the desire that one day we’ll wake up and everyone will have united in deciding that Katy is irrelevant and pretty talentless? That day shall come, and it shall be glorious. Anyway, Katy just released several promotional photos from her new album, Teenage Dream. Unfortunately, these aren’t super-cool paintings of a naked Katy on a cloud. No, in these images, Katy shows off her talents in a rubber bikini, of course. Ugh. I hate to admit it (really hate it) but the rubber bikini top is kind of cool. It’s very mod.
By the way, her new single and video is out for “Teenage Dream”. It’s rather… unimaginative. Like, this is the girl who is engaged to Russell Brand, so you know she’s a kinky bitch to keep him interested. So why do a video that’s like a budget J. Crew catalog, complete with Mr. Bland McOrdinary as your boyfriend? Damn, the embed function is disabled. Whatever, it’s a stupid song. If you want to see the dumb video, go here.
Also: Katy made fun of Miley Cyrus in a recent MTV interview. She was talking about her style and her new album, and she said: “I’m not coming out trying to prove anything to anyone, like, ‘Oh, I’m in assless chaps!’ or ‘I can’t be tamed!’ … I’ve already been through that phase!” Haha Miley is more successful than you, Katy. Just the fact that Katy is taking a swipe at Miley is making me more Team Miley.

Actually I’m on Team Katy. She’s always been the same type of entertainer (a bit average and plastic,yes), whereas Miley made millions off of tweens…and, now that she’s of age has gone hog-wild to the point of making an as* out of herself trying to distance herself from those very tweens who made her those millions. The jury is out on how Miley will do in her new target market…the teen crowd, in my opinion, will be a lot more critical and go for someone with more flair and talent…not the former Hannah Montana. BTW, who has made more cash doesn’t necessarily denote who is the better artist.

I like her. she’s a bit of the wall but she’s harmless. Miley is still a role model for thousands of young girls whether sh wants to e or not, and her antics are harming those kids. Katy’s are not.
Besides, I love how well she can rock vintage inspired looked. she’s hot.

aenflex: haha she doesn’t write her own songs! I hope that was sarcastic. Her “I kissed a girl” song was written by Britney spears male songwriter. The same one who wrote “Hit me baby”, and some others. I’m pretty sure California girls was written by someone else. I remember her saying in an interview, that it was a great song and she was happy to get it or something like that.

@aenflex - i don’t think that’s an entirely accurate statement. most every song that she’s put her name on also has at least 3 other names (check the wiki page on the track listeing of her new album), often these are people who are hired as a songwriting team (ie i kissed a girl, waking up in vegas, california gurls). i don’t give her credit for ‘writing’ a song, because save for a few lines, i dont think she’s that creatively involved in the lyrics OR the melody. it’s true when her christian album came out she was the sole writer on a lot of the songs…but how successful was that? you can write your own songs, doesn’t mean they are any good.

i find katy perry boring and her voice live is like a banshee. yes she has a good body, but with a combo of genetics, ample time to work out and tons of health/fitness trainers, i could probably look hot too.
that being said i’m probably just jealous cause i know i could out sing that hack any day. le sigh.

IMO, Katy doesn’t bother me either way. I loved the song she did with 3OH!3 but I’ve been a fan of theirs for a while now. LOVE the photoset though, gorgeous colours and styling. Also: good grief I wish I had a body like that.

@Kelly-I was not aware of the Christian album! Wow…thanks…you learn something new every day.
HOWEVER, I do think that it’s safe to say that she wasn’t an ESTABLISHED Christian musician with a huge following; as the average person does not know that piece of information about Katy Perry. One does not conjure the image of her holding a bible and singing verse…they think about “I KISSED A GIRL”. In other words, she’s not like Miley who was insanely popular with a specific crowd (tweens), made millions, and quickly implemented a drastic change simply because she could.Katy, on the other hand, was probably just happy to lay some tracks and was trying to find herself…big difference.
Either way, I still think Miley deserved the swipe. My little ones are a bit suspicious why they can’t listen to Miley’s new songs. I’d hate to tell them that the songs are too “grown up” and that Miley could give a rats as* that they can’t listen to her anymore. But I’m sure she’s just soooooo appreciative of all the money we’ve spent on Hannah Montana crap over the years…yeah, right!

Eh - both girls are talentless. Although….I’m pretty sure Katy Perry actually has a voice when she doesn’t hide it and actually tries. See her old song “Mannequin” and judge for yourself.
But Miley is a talentless, immature, bratty, entitled try-hard that needs to drop off the face of the planet. Katy Perry is at least consistent with her typically shallow antics. And she’s got a theme - she clearly prefers to be more of a visual performer and emphasize that instead of what I believe is a genuine singing voice.
