Hi – I’d just like to point out that I’ve been posting here as KC for over a year, and I’m not the same person as the KC who posted above. I will pick another name. Other KC, kudos to you for trying to build a strong family unit for you and your son – that is really what it’s all about, no matter what your age.

I had my soon-to-be-four year old at the ripe old age of 30, and I was COMPLETELY UNPREPARED for what parenthood would be like. I had a really tough time adjusting – I think because I had spent 30 years doing whatever I wanted. Suddenly this living, breathing person needed me constantly and nobody else could help. No matter what your age, parenthood brings so many challenges – I understand that Solange is trying to be encouraging but I agree with what everyone else has said about celebrity teen moms really not having a clue what it’s like in the real world. They can just retire to their posh penthouse apartments and nannies and pretty much keep living life like nothing happened.

I also had my first baby at 18 and I agree with the people that say you don’t do what’s best for YOU you do what’s best for the BABY. I did marry my son’s father before he was born and we’ll have been married 5 years this year and are now expecting baby #2. We also have our own insurance and were never on walfare. We both stepped up to the plate and moved out of our parents’ houses and into our own apartment as soon as we found out I was pregnant. We didn’t have much money but we made it work, so yes it can be done and not all young marriages end if you’re willing to work on it and be responsible adults.

I was thinking the same thing when she said “Do what’s right for YOU” and I’m not even a mom! You have a baby now! Do right by the BABY!

I think the thought of a celeb mom is more frightening than a teen mom. They sure are more self-centered!

Amen Bros! Besides the immaturity factor, which doesn’t exactly cut off at some “magic” age, the biggest concern for teen moms is lack of resources and the stigma of being unmarried. People are disgusted that they may be spending their tax dollars on you and your “bastard” children even if that’s not the case. They say “it takes a village to raise a child”. Anyways, I was a teen mom and felt the shame placed on me by others. But you can’t go back and undo pregnancy (unless, well, you know). You have to WANT to accept parenting and let it manifest naturally. No doubt, when you’re wealthy you have access to more help but it doesn’t neccessarily make you a better parent. Neither money nor age guarantees a normal, happy, well-adjusted child.

Why does everyone have to criticize Beyonce’s little sister? She’s telling the truth! I was a mom at 18 and yes you do have to do what’s best for you because when you’re that young and a mom everyone else thinks they can just take over.
