Angelina Jolie: “Shiloh loves to wear a tie – that’s her thing”

This is probably only interesting to the die-hard loonies, but both Us Weekly and Hello! Magazine had interviews with Angelina Jolie last week, and there were some somewhat interesting quotes. Most of it was just more of the same – eating spiders, Shiloh dressing like a boy, but there is some new stuff. In Us Weekly, she talks about how Zahara is really fast:

How does it feel to film a movie again?
Great! I hadn’t worked in over a year. I had two babies and was home in my nightgown a whole lot. It was nice to get really aggressive and physical. Brad was very supportive. Anything I was ready to do, he was going to jump behind.

Were you nervous to film with the spider?
I like spiders, so I’m not that squeamish. I’ve eaten some in my days in Cambodia, so I didn’t have a problem. But I didn’t eat this one!

What do your kids think of the movie?
They saw the trailer. Half of them were completely uninterested, and Shiloh wanted me to cut my hair short. Pax got upset because someone was trying to hurt his mom. I’ll say “It’s ok, because mommy is OK in the end, and that’s all you need to know!”

With six kids, guess you’re used to running around a lot?
Yes, but they can run faster. [Zahara] is the fastest by far. They’re all over, and the twins go in different directions at the same time. We’ve gated off a lot of the rooms in the house where they were going, though.

[From US Weekly, print edition, August 9, 2010]

I’m struggling to draw something out of the information that Zahara is a great runner. Will this affect her global domination?

Also, Angelina had some interesting stuff to say to Hello:

Angelina on traveling with the kids: “We can drag them around with us now, but as they get older, they’re going to want to be with their friends, so we’re going to have to move our life around them a little more. I hope they won’t be less traveling, I hope I’ve got them healthily addicted.

On me-time: “I just don’t get it. Most people with kids just don’t get it. Sometimes you get a bath or a shower by yourself, but usually somebody is trying to come in.”

On letting the kids see her films: “The girls are just starting to be interested. They’ve seen a few minutes of Tomb Raider, but not the whole thing. Both Brad and I have done animated films this year, so they think we just do cartoon. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is going to be fun for them to discover one day because it’s their mom and dad.”

On Brad’s advice on stunt work: “He’s not [worried]. We both consider each other quite capable. he’ll ask me to double-check my harness or my rig, or he’ll say, ‘Don’t get sloppy when you are out on the roof.’”

On maybe doing a comedy: “Like everybody, I thought The Hangover was funny. I end up watching a lot of kids’ movies, so I find my children very, very funny. I am very goofy I think. I laugh and giggle – when I was pregnant I used to get the giggles for about 15 minutes, unstoppable. But I don’t think I’d be very good in a comedy. I think there are other actresses who do it brilliantly. I’d love to try, but I think I might be better as the straight man or something.”

On funny moments filming Salt: “Well, the dog didn’t like me. We did a shot which we changed later where his head was sticking out of a backpack and the whole time he was growling in my ear. I was thinking he was going to bite my ear off. Bit it looked too funny so we put his head in.”

On Shiloh being like her, and how Shiloh wants to be a boy: “She has always wanted to dress like a boy. She wants her hair cut like a boy, and wanted to go by the name John for a while. Some kids wear capes and want to be Superman; she wants to be like her brothers. So we kind of let her. It’s just who she is and it’s been a surprise to us. She’s lovely. She’s so funny and light and sweet and pretty, but she does love to wear a tie – that’s her thing.”

[From Hello Magazine, print edition]

Aw, that stuff about Shiloh was really cute. I love that Shiloh is all about the tie. I bet Zahara has already mastered tying the Windsor knot for her little sister. Zahara knows that this whole “Montenegro Style” will help in her global domination. Then they pull each other’s hair and Zahara runs away. Cute.

PS… I’m considering joining Twitter, and I think “MontenegroStyle” would be a cute name. Thoughts?

Ahhh I love the twitter name! Better claim it quick before Empress Z & Shiloh learn how to work the interwebz….

  2. Leek says:

She just seems like a great mom. Her kids all seem to be really, really happy. That’s good considering the hot messes other people are raising out there.

  3. denise says:

Luv Zahara’s side eye. She looks just like her biological mom.

  4. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Loonies??? 🙁 That makes me sad. We are fans. LOL Ok So I am a little crazy over Angelina, as are others, but she is freaking awesome.

Us weekly can go stuff themselves. I do love the Hello Interview. Loved it. I loved how she said the dog didn’t like her. He may have been nervous about being in a backpack and on top of that he was high as hell in the air. Love how she talks about Brad. Double check your rigs, he sounds so protective. Hawt. The parts about Shi sooo sweet.

That will be real treat for them when they can see their parents in film. I am not sure how I would react, but hey it may not faze them. They will love Mastermind, it looks sooo funny.

I thought you guys already had a Twitter. Anyway I don’t think you should name your twitter that. LOL its funny especially when MK used in like a gazillion posts but yea, no. Please don’t.

  5. Chelly says:

They took the cutest little girl and completely turned her into a boy….smh.

  6. truthSF says:

I went shopping for my daughter for school over the weekend, (School starts early august in GA) and all the stores were selling girl’s shirts with vest and ties, very much what Shiloh has been wearing.

I think they are trying to push that Montenegro style down our throat.

p.s., I am a proud Empress Zee’s minion, I love that little girl.

  7. Anonymous says:

Well, my son wants to wear a dress all of the time. (Daddy has stopped that, so my son has backed off of asking for one all of the time.) However, he has been waring a cape and witch’s hat to daycare for the past several weeks, over his play clothes.

  8. Alexa says:

All of the Jolie-Pitt children seem so healthy and vibrant. It’s great that their parents don’t try to strip them of their personalities. I believe it’s harmful when parent try to do that – though I don’t believe that most parents who do that are intentionally trying to harm their kids, at least I hope not. Parenting is the hardest job (cliche or no cliche). And with psychology and cultures ever-evolving, there’s never been an official manual. (Many would say that the bible is the official manual – could be – but our understanding/interpretation of the bible varies from group to group and from century to century.) Anyway – people assuming something’s perverted about a child wanting to dress up in an unusual type of clothing are extremely “out of touch.”

  9. lena says:

Denise do you have a picture of her bio mom? I’ve never seen one

  10. Kim says:

I doubt she spoke to USweekly they probably got interview from another source. I noticed that Star magazine published an “interview” with her last week that was similar to this one. Boxoffice mojo latest bo results Salt has made $103 million so far in 10 days. 70 million domestic, 33 million foreign. Denise which bio mom the one in the Australian tabloid, the British tabloid or the one in INtouch Weekly. All three women placed their baby girl in the same orphanage. You can google the different stories, The Australian tabloid story was in 2005.The women were different ages one was 18 when Zahara was born.BTW I have a cousin who is 1/2 Ethiopian who looks just like Zahara. So only a DNA test can determine who her bio mom is. AJ was told by the adoption agency that her bio mom was dead and that the grandmother could no longer take care of her. Who knows what the truth is.Zahara is happy and loved and the Zahara Marley Jolie Pitt TB/ AIDS Clinic is being built in Ethiopia.

  11. denise says:

    @ Lena

It was published I believe around the time that Ang adopted Z(a few years back). The mom was claiming to want Baby Z back. On the cover of that mag there was a pic of woman who looked exactly like Zahara. No doubt the woman was her mom. You may be able to google it.

  12. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

@anonymous, my friend’s son wears one of his older sister’s dresses almost every day over his jeans or shorts. That’s how he goes to preschool and he’s happy like that, so they don’t make a big deal. He’ll either out grow it, or he won’t, but I think it’s way healthier than repressing it. People just smile and say he’s cute, not a huge deal. Love the witches hat and cape combo! Super cool!

  13. Praise St. Angie! says:

wow, how beautiful is Z? crikey…

and I think it’s aDORable that Shiloh wants to wear a tie…I did, too, for a short while when I was a kid. just like DADDY!

  14. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

Kaiser, honestly, can’t something be done about the mod squad on this site? I’ve never said anything bad or been admonished in any way, so why the constant moderation??

I’ve seen lots of people complaining about this and the bummer is, I always miss their comments when they’re on moderation because their posts just appear randomly and aren’t at the end.

There must be some way to fix this, right?

  15. lisa says:

She did not speak to US Weekly.. as if that is was taken from another interview. I can’t recall. US and other do that all the time cut and past. That quote is old and I know the interview in question was right at the beginning of the SALT promo.. so NO she did not give them an interview. Like I said. they are taking pieces of several interview and putting them together.. I just saw a quote regarding her in competition with CZjones for the Liz Taylor biopic. They took something she said about the Cleopatra role and applied it to the Liz Taylor. Funny thing is it was on TAPE and such an obvious LIE. She never said she was or wanted to play Taylor. in fact she said she was not aware of that rumor and that “no one could as great playing Liz Taylor as Liz Taylor”.

But hey they never let the truth stop them before.

  16. lena says:

Well I goolgled it Denise, this is what I found …

    http://www.blackcelebkids.com/2007/11/28/zahara-jolie-pitts-real-mother-speaks/

she definitely favors her, she’s a pretty woman for sure

  17. denise says:

    @ Lena

Yes I believe that is her. Of course I never saw her on video, I only saw the pic on the mag, but I knew instantly that had to be her mom. Good detective work 🙂

  18. a says:

nothing wrong with a tomboy or individual style. she will either grow up to still be a tomgirl or very feminine. there is no way to tell and to let her be creative is not ruining anything.

i do think it is healthy to not make a big deal out of it. that would only cause negativity, self questioning and confusion for a little girl.

  19. Green Is Good says:

Kaiser, you better grab MontenegroStyle before somebody beats you to it. Not me, I already have a twitter account.

  20. Kolby says:

I only have one child and I never get time to myself, so I don’t think I could imagine the lack of privacy in the Jolie-Pitt household. On the rare occasions when I do get an uninterrupted shower, it’s cause of celebration.

  21. anon says:

“I like spiders, so I’m not that squeamish. I’ve eaten some in my days in Cambodia”

Well… you are what you eat, Angelina… 🙂

  22. meme says:

@She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named: I’m on constant moderation because I don’t like Brangelina and say negative things about them.

  23. CH says:

i like that she has the humility to say that she´s not good at comedy
she was in one with edward burns
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2Gzl3skIUc
    she was not that bad
i have the feeling that she´s getting disenchanted with her acting skills

  24. Juice in LA says:

Big Ol’ Yes on the Twitter name- snatch that up before someone else steals it.

I also think it would be a killer Band Name- so much more fun than “Glum C-nt”

  25. truthSF says:

@meme, don’t flatter yourself. Everybody who writes on Celebithy is in moderation on every Celebitchy post, (not just Brangelina posts) until they approve our comments. Wether you like/dislike anyone is not the cause. Get off your high horse.

  26. Moreaces says:

@Tazina, Zee looks just like her, Thanks for your efforts

  27. badrockandroll says:

If you are what you eat, anon at #21, are you a pig, a cow, a chicken, a fish or a banana? Silly game!

  28. DD says:

I believe mod is caused by the use of certain controversial words or even the names of the very celebrities this post is about. like i guarantee that if you use her name or his name you will be in mod.

  29. lucy2 says:

Sorry Kaiser, looks like the name is already taken, unless you’re the one who took it. That would be funny though.

CH – I like that she was willing to say she wouldn’t be good at comedy too. I don’t imagine her having much of a sense of humor for some reason, even her answer to the question about comedy seemed a little odd. Some actors just aren’t well suited to comedy, just as others can’t pull off drama.

  30. meme says:

@truthSF – I wasn’t flattering myself and apparently you are incorrect.

Update: Get off your high horse

  31. let says:

@ Chelly — you obviously missed the point. I bet you either don’t have kids or are one of those mothers who dress their little girls in pink frilly dresses at all times.

Kids are little people and have a style of their own! Shiloh’s is obviously modeled after her big bros, which I think is adorable.

  32. Maritza says:

@Tazina, thanks for that link, wow, I had no idea Zahara’s biological mom had been raped and she’s alive.

  33. BethL says:

I don’t understand why people say Angelina fans are crazy when the haters’ comments are so much more looney. Angelina doesn’t do interviews with tabloids except People Mag. I know I’ve seen these exact quotes from other sources. They probably came from a junket or press confererence. It’s weird when the media say they interviewed somebody when the truth is there were 100 other reporters in the room. I think Angelina does have a sense of humor and even if she does’t she could still do comedy. Some of the best comedians are also some of the most boring in interview setting.

  34. Will says:

I’d like to know how many people would think it was just as cute if it was one of her male kids wanting to wear dresses.

  35. meme says:

FYI – I just polled a couple of women around my office who have toddlers and none of them know what “montenegro style” is.

  36. anon says:

    @badrockandr:

at this point I’m chocolate cheesecake 🙂

  37. mAnDa3 says:

I’ve always liked jole but she and her family are starting to get on my nerves.

  38. Kiska says:

    Z’s biological mom is stunning.

  39. Cheyenne says:

Everybody gets moderated? News to me. I always get moderated but so what? It’s CB’s blog and she can run it any way she wants to.

  40. P.J. says:

I could be wrong, but it seems to me the only time I’m on moderation is for Jolie/Pitt comments. The J-Ps seem to be the cause of fights on other sites, so I just assumed that there must be some really outrageous stuff going on behind the scenes that we probably don’t want to read anyway!

One of the things I like about this blog is that the posters make such interesting comments, so I’m happy that it’s moderated.

  41. Liana says:

he has been waring a cape and witch’s hat to daycare for the past several weeks, over his play clothes.
    _____________

I think I love your little one! It takes a real little man to wear a cape and a witch’s hat!

  42. snowball says:

I think pretty much everyone’s on moderation for a while during the AJ stories, just because it’s a chore to wade through them when the comments are flying fast and furious and god knows what sorts of things are being said before anyone (meaning poor CB and Kaiser) has a chance to look at them.

Blogs are fun, but having been the mod at one..yeah, moderation is sometimes needed. Fast and loose is fun. Fast and too loose can be really, really hurtful to participants and potentially a landmine to the owners.

Okay, so what’s bothered me, apart from #Montenegrostyle! is why AJ keeps mentioning the story about her jammies. That’s an odd one to repeat. I keep getting the pic of her sitting in an old-fashioned flannel nightgown in this big brass bed with a mountain of pillows and eyelet sheets.

  43. CH says:

LUC2 DID YOU WATCH “LIFE or something like it”?
she plays a kind of bitchy selfish fake blonde
its a comedy and its not one of her best acting
and it was before her nose job
she looks weird, she wasnt that pretty before
and “playing by heart” is a comedy too, she´s funny in that picture
    she got great reviews
i think she´s getting better with every movie
but she doesnt work that much anymore
and it seems she´s losing interest
i dont blame her, but i like her movies
    so i think it s a pitty

  44. lisa says:

I don’t think she is repeating comments. First she doesn’t do that many interviews. Most of the comments are cut and past from a few print ones and the press interviews in Cancun and Washington. Plus the short q&a at the premiers. They just keep repeating them and that makes it look like she is saying the same thing over and over.

But it has been 2 years and I was glad to read her interviews. And I don’t think she gives herself that much credit. I think she is funny. I love her interviews on Ellen and the one she did with Anne Curry when pregnant. Plus if you have seen the ones on MSN when she was promoting Wanted. She was a hoot. It just seem the American press always tries to ask all these serious probing questions. NEVER funny stuff. So it seems like she is serious all the time. But she has some really cute and funny interviews I have seen.

  45. suede says:

She has a very beautiful family.

  46. eja102 says:

    please join twitter kaiser 🙂

  47. Sans says:

I forgot about that movie CH and I liked it. she didn’t have a nose job!

  48. margo says:

    zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  49. canadianchick says:

Z is so cute and yes both birth and adopted moms are beautiful. Shiloh is a cute tomboy.

  50. teri says:

I like to read what Angelina says because I find her interesting and a breath of fresh air. It’s not often we actually get to hear about her and her family from her own mouth. I’m thinking too many negative comments are from tabloid junkies who read about her weekly from unnamed sources. Shiloh seems like such an innocent and sweet little girl, just hope she never encounters such bullies anytime soon.

  51. someone says:

I have 4kids, 3 boys 1 girl, and thankfully she never wanted to emulate her older brothers, she was a Tomboy, and wanted to play football…but she grew up into a beautiful woman, If she had asked to to be called John, I would have said no…if she wanted to dress in boys clothes, I would have tried to buy her clothes that looked similar but from the girls dept…I didn’t dress her in frilly dresses because she wasn’t the frilly girl..but I definitly made sure she knew she was a girl and not a boy!

  52. 病気子猫 says:

Someone commented on a gossip blog (a mother) that there is no way Shiloh, then 3 yrs. old would have the capacity for such “Montenegro Style”. She claimed the stages of development and chalked it up to AJ just wanting to come off as special and different from other parents.

  53. Liz says:

Well I have 2 older sisters and I still wanted to be a boy when I was 3 or 4. My male cousins had the cool toys , minibikes ,BB guns etc. Fortunately my parents were supportive and I grew out of it when I was about 6. Although I still prefer pants to dresses. As for clothes if Suri can select her clothes than Shiloh can choose her clothes.Shiloh was wearing dresses until she turned 3, if her parents were trying to be different they would be dressing Zahara as a boy too and wouldn’t have put Shiloh in dresses when she was younger

  54. meme says:

hmmmm, I wonder what the reaction would be if it were Pax demanding to be called Priscilla and wearing dresses all the time?

  55. Liz says:

The reaction would be different because there is a double standard. Females are allowed to wear pants, vest ,ties etc but a man is not going to be accepted going to work in a dress.Although that is changing I know a progressive preschool that allowed a little boy to wear ‘girls’clothes but they are the exception.

  56. meme says:

That’s not a progressive preschool, it’s a bad preschool. I wouldn’t dress my son in girl’s clothing and I wouldn’t allow my daughter to be called John. Children don’t make all the decisions.

Update: I wouldn’t allow my 14 year old daughter to sleep with her boyfriend in my bedroom either, but that’s just me.

  57. Lady Jane says:

mmm… Maybe if she wants a little ‘me’ time she should ask one of her 12 nannies for a little assistance. From the way she talks, all the hired help do is stand in the corner while Angie does it all! Sorry, she is pretty but I don’t buy that she and Brad do it all themselves.

  58. Liar says:

Exactly how old are you people, and shouldn’t your parents be putting childproof security on your computers? I’m turning you all in for staying up passed your bedtimes.

  59. ding says:

if i remember correctly.. thinking back to the early / mid 90’s , “montenegro” style, i thought was a sort of androgenious look that way back when was favored more by the lesbian crowd, a kind of butch look.

  60. Hane says:

    What’s the big deal?
