I think the first was better. The second had much more structure - tighter schedule, more media. The first started as a bit of a lark and grew into an event. And there was more Claudio (the cameraman) in it - I adore him! There were media feeds for "Long Way Down" with updates every day or two at the BBC website, so fans could follow the trip as it was occurring, which was pretty exciting. McGregor talked about the cancer in one of the video diaries while they were still in London. I haven't seen that yet, so I didn't know he discussed it there. However, I enjoyed both Long Way Around and Road to Dakar (much more Boorman than McGregor). He spoke about it quite openly. I'm glad he got it checked before he rode through Africa. All that sun would have made things much worse.
