Best dressed. By whom? A blind man?

  2. Sumodo1 says:

Oh, Lord! No. No. No. WHO voted for her, Vivienne Westwood?

  3. flourpot says:

I must be the only one that loves her style.

  4. meme says:

    that’s one messed up list.

  5. GatsbyGal says:

I want to kidnap her and her husband, Tim Burton, and force them into a shower and then lather, rinse, and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat. Jeezus H, how can they go out in public like that? Especially him. I understand the “messy” look, but they’ve pushed past “messy” and are headed deep into “dirty” territory.

  6. Heather says:

I can see Avril dressing that way in 20 years. Maybe only 10.

  7. Bunny says:

She looks like a modern day Miss Havisham.

  8. LindyLou says:

Best dressed?? Is this a joke?

  9. hellen says:

In other news: Hell freezes over. Pigs fly. Film at 11:00!

  10. mln says:

I love HBC too flour pot just check out A Room with A View she was actually stunning in her youth

  11. Samantha says:

She’s adorable. I’m glad they went with a funky style. =)

  12. meme says:

HBC tries way too hard. It probably takes her forever to get dressed.

  13. fizXgirl3114 says:

I love her and her unique sense of style…. LOVE LOVE LOVE…

  14. Novaraen says:

I think her style is kooky and really cute. It fits her perfectly.

  15. Missfit says:

Awgh…Bellatrix Lestrange! I LOVE her! I know she has some weird and odd style, but that’s just her, who she is. I really think she’s a really pretty person. Her and Tim make a perfect couple.

  16. TaylorB says:

I love her… but best dressed? who has been giving the VF fashion editor crack with her lunch?

  17. MeiMei says:

    @ flourpot:

You’re not. I guess I’d hate those clothes on virtually anyone else, but she seems to embrace the (good kind of) crazy.

  18. Merry says:

I LOVE her! Though she’s not always perfectly groomed, she definitely has a good sense of style – and a personal one, too! Superb!

  19. Juice in LA says:

@Sumodo- LOL that is spot on.

although I have to admit I love her and like her crazy homeless couture chic vibe.

Maybe she’s nuts like a fox!

  20. Cinderella says:

I initially wondered if she adopted this style after hooking up with Tim, but it looks like she had a bit of a renegade style before Tim. She’s still a pretty woman.

And I’m sure she had to step it up because Lisa Marie was a tough act to follow. I always found LM to be VERY sexy.

  21. Stephie says:

World gone mad. Cute and quirky but best? Surely not.

  22. lisa says:

When I saw that Best Dressed list I thought it was an April Fools joke…

then.. I remembered it was August.

That list should be burned.. and this is why they should never put out another.

I love HBC, but her style is just too dated and wacky. When I see her in Harry Potter or other movies she is still dressed the same. It has become where does she end and the characters she plays begin. I don’t know what I would do if I saw her in a normal outfit in a film.

    So much talent.

  23. Victoria says:

@Gatsby Gal:I too would like kidnap Tim Burton and HBC and force them to shower a few times. However I also want to take him to the dentist to get his teeth cleaned!

  24. KsGirl says:

I have to admit I’m loving this choice for best dressed. I am so sick of all the bland, over-stylisted celebs always winning this. Good on them for choosing someone with their own original style!

  25. lola lola says:

Love her style! She’s unconventional and yet isn’t trying to hard.

  26. Eileen says:

She’s cool and gorgeous. I WISH I could dress like that!

  27. a says:

    individual style is priceless.

  28. AmyWinelake says:

I love HBC’s style too. Her outfits always get a reaction, as opposed to some of the bland stuff alot of peeps wear on the red carpet

  29. auntie mame says:

I think that cream dress IS Vivienne Westwood. And I like her style. She’s an individual and that’s rare in an age when most slebs are dressed by stylists.

  30. mAnDa3 says:

    I freaking love her!

  31. Ron says:

Maybe the list is about style. She most definitely has her own style and I appreciate that even if it’s not mine. The last thing the world needs in another woman in an Armani shift on the best dressed list. It’s one of the reasons I love Michelle Obama so much too, her style is interesting.

  32. hatsumomo says:

I love it! There is a lovely reason to her wacky rhyme.

  33. BeeCee says:

    THAT….. IS…… AWESOME!!!!!

hehe!! YAY! She’s the greatest person ever

  34. Mairead says:

*whispers* I agree with them 😳

  35. original kate says:

love HBC and her style. i dress neo-victorian myself, so i’m on board.

  36. ol cranky says:

HBC is on the best dressed list? was it their april fool’s edition?

  37. jane16 says:

I love her acting, don’t care much for her style, although she is certainly unique. I stopped reading Vanity Fair years ago. I find it boring now and I think the editors have odd taste.

  38. Joe says:

You have have to see Helena in person to appreciate her absolute beauty…

  39. OhCamille! says:

@KsGirl: I totally agree with you. (I’m kinda tired of the over styled look too) I love her style, it fits her well and she looks confident and comfortable. I don’t understand her choice of dirty shoes, though. Her shoes are filthy in every shot taken of her. How do they get that way? Does she do this on purpose, and to brand new shoes?
Oh well, love her and love her work!

  40. zombie_teacup says:

She looks fantastic and I love her style. Actually I love everything about her. She’s not afraid to be different. If it weren’t for people like her the world would be a very boring place.

  41. buenavissta says:

She’s my kind of crazy, I love her style.

  42. AllyBoo says:

Love It! She seems like one of the very few celebs that actually wear what they want. Even if you do not like her style, you can atleast appreciate the fact that she is uniquely herself and doesn’t let any fad or person change that.

  43. voodoobetty says:

I love her! She really has her OWN style and obviously doesn’t give a crap about the latest trends which I think is just brilliant. She always looks amazing to me. Id kill for her wardrobe and her hair and her gorgeous skin. I have a major crush on this woman.

  44. Shay says:

I wonder what perks VF is receiving for that? Helena Bonham Carter is a mess. She looks like she hasn’t taken a bath for a month most of the time, as does her husband.

  45. Diva says:

Love her, love her, love her! I wish my hair would do what hers does! And I think she dresses to perfection! {=0)

  46. ViktoryGin says:

Helena Bonham Carter. So eccentric. She and Tim Burton make a perfect pair.

  47. Kelly says:

Come on, what else would she wear? That’s who the hell she is. Not everyone wants to be a fearful moron with a team of twats putting together their ‘look’ and then starving themselves to fit into it! WTF. Relax.

  48. grrrlgrace says:

She wears the clothes, they don’t wear her…don’t know many who could wear those garbs and not be sucked in by them. Love her!!!!

  49. Truthzbetta says:

She’s an out patient fighting to get back in.

  50. Truthzbetta says:

    About her meds:

Courtney Love says, “Mmm…I’ll have what she’s having.”

Not original, Court, but awfully fitting.

  51. Amoosed says:

I am so pleased that Vanity Fair are not going with just the anodyne, ubiquitous beauties. Long may her unique fashion continue

  52. Jaxx says:

Is this some kind of joke? She not only goes around looking like an unmade bed, she also looks like she smells. In spite of all that I do love her, but well dressed? NOT.

  53. DeE says:

The two are matches made in Lala land. Perfectly paired quirkiness. You just gotta smile with them.

  54. bnice says:

I love HBC and her quirkiness…she reminds me of me, back when I had the b@lls not to care what people thought. I admire her courage and true originality. She certainly has her own personal style, no one can deny that!

  55. fugly says:

she’s beautiful. good for vf. this is progress.

  56. Fae says:

She’s the only actress I know who dresses herself instead of paying a stylist to pick shit out for her.

For that, she deserves the accolade. She’s got individuality, which is more than I can say for 99% of the homogenised, surgically altered, yet-another-boring-satin-gown brigade.

    Vive la Bonham Carter Revolution!

  57. the bunny lover says:

eh whatever. she’s her own person. would you rather she wears nude heels with a red sole and a bandage dress? didn’t think so.
