Drew Barrymore went to a party hosted by Nylon Magazine last night, and this was her look. I was going through the photos of her, and I was kind of amazed by how gorgeous she looked in every single pic. Usually Drew is self-defeating with her styling, mucking up at least one thing, or posing on the red carpet like the hippie-dippy flower child she is. Last night was different – an elegant beaded knee-length dress, beautiful, simple hair and flawless makeup. Is this the Drew we’ve been waiting for? Has she finally grown into the stylish, competent, intelligent, capable woman we’ve been waiting for?
Or is the look too much? Does it age her? Because Drew no longer looks like a 20-something rocker chick/groupie. She looks great for her age (35), but she looks her age too, you know? I don’t know, I really like this. I hope this version of Drew sticks around.

I like it. When I read ‘lady who lunches’, I thought of arch Noel Coward protagonist who wears caftans, long strings of pearls and turbans or a Daughters of the American Revolution meeting with Chanel two-pieces, short pearls and pill box hats.
It seems that with clothing, the more you try to hide your age (up or down from the calendar date) the more it shows–and in a desperate way. I don’t like the shoes-at least from the front, but that’s a minor quibble. Definitely better than the bra-less and giant flower shoved behind the ear shenanigans. Those were lame in 1995, and would be lame now.
Peaches…hair’s an improvement. Don’t know what’s happening the eyeliner. I’ll say no more.

God I love her hair. I don’t care how she acts, I think it’s great to stay youthful and bubbly – some think it’s hippy dippy, I think it’s enjoying every day she gets on this earth. I feel bad for people who think you have to look/behave/talk a certain way (i.e. grown up) – especially when most of those criticizers are fairly miserable and unfulfilled on a daily basis. Probably because they are so stressed trying to be grown up all the time.

She looks gorgeous, and I can appreciate the work that went into the dress, but I don’t think I’d wear it.
I like that when she wants to, she can pull out all the stops and look more mature and elegant, but she’s still a jeans and t-shirt girl in regular life.

Front of dress is ugly, back is kind of cool. Overall, a little aging for her. Like the grown up hair and classic make-up. Will always hate her lispy voice.

Drew has been through so much in her life with very little adult guidance it seems. I believe she’s coming in to her own as she matures (I won’t say ages) She’s adorable!

umh no, I don’t like the dress nor her hair. Seems a bit of a mess.
I like her, she has a nice figure and all but this style isn’t for her. I’m not saying that isn’t appropriate for her age but it’s ugly. bleah, totally.

I think she looks great. The only thing that ages her (unnecessarily, IMO) is the hemline. About 2-3″ shorter and this look would have been even better!
