Elizabeth Moss & Fred Armisen’s marriage over after 10 months

wenn5270375

Mad Men’s Elizabeth Moss and SNL’s Fred Armisen have split after ten months of marriage. They met back in 2008, when Moss joined her Mad Men costar Jon Hamm on SNL for a skit, during Hamm’s hosting duties. It was a fast engagement for Moss and Armisen, and they were married last fall. According to Life & Style, they actually separated this past spring. Day-um.

Life & Style can report exclusively that SNL funnyman Fred Armisen and his wife, Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss, have separated after 10 months of marriage.

A source tells Life & Style, “Fred and Elisabeth separated in May. Fred is currently in Portland, Ore. on the set of his new series Portlandia. Elisabeth is in LA focusing on her career and spending quiet time with friends.”

Elisabeth is best known for playing Peggy on AMC’s drama Mad Men, which films in LA. The actress is currently nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. Fred, however, is based in NYC while filming Saturday Night Live.

The couple got married last October after getting engaged in January 2009. This was the first marriage for Elisabeth and the second for Fred; he was previously married to English singer Sally Timms until 2004.

[From Life & Style]

What’s with all the brief marriages lately? Although, to give Fred and Elizabeth credit, they were together overall for two years. Still, what happened? Affair? Weird sex practices? Did The Hamm strike? That last one is doubtful, because I don’t think The Hamm and Elizabeth Moss have that kind of relationship at all. Plus, I think Moss is a Friend of Xenu (and yes, I know Xenu is the bad guy, but I love to drop a little Xenu in conversation). Could this be a Church of Scientology-related split? I have no idea what religion Fred is, but if you forced me to guess, I would say “Catholic”. Who knows, though? Maybe they just grew apart.

Sad to see couples break up, but a long distance relationship and Xenu in any love triangle would break many marriages apart. I like her character and acting in Mad Men and also thought she was good when she was in West Wing, I’m bummed she is a Xenu lover.

Grew apart in 10 months? Nah… something happened. Probably something that should have been discussed before marriage but wasn’t and they found out it was a dealbreaker.

I was JUST saying not even two days ago how much I liked the idea of them together. Bummer.

    @Feebee
Right? 10 months is barely enough time to grow together let alone grow apart.
I wonder what the deal breakers were & why they weren’t known about or an issue when they were dating…

This may sound mean but he’s pretty fug. I don’t like to hear about separations, but this is hollywood. I’m surprised they’re not divorced.

I guess Xenu “audited” her and told her he must go! Good going Tom Cruise. Your religion destroys another marriage. Yes, I’m totally making assumptions here :)

He’s kinda too ugly for her. They rushed to get married…that was the mistake. He’s based in NY and she’s in LA….nah…I don’t see it working.

Can people please stop calling $cientology a religion?

    It’s a cult and a Ponzi scheme.

No religion extorts that kind of money from people and doesn’t threaten members who want to quit with accidents or has a hand in them dying under dubious circumstances.

Just throwing this out there, but many comedians are very dark people that suffer depression.
Do we know who is the one to actually pull the plug on this relationship?

  11. He supposedly converted, and I’m guessing he didn’t fully commit to the process.

Not sure whether the CO$ wil declare him an SP or just waive a few audits over his head and guarantee his ongoing silence.

Oh the sanctity of marriage at work. It’s so nice to see a those straight folks honor the instituion of marriage so gracefully for 10 whole months.

Just a pet peeve of mine but in regards to SNL, they are “sketches” not “skits.”. Skits are something kids put on during creative expression time.

He’s hilarious. As for guesses to why they separated, I’m going with they probably didn’t know each other enough.

I just don’t get this sometimes. I feel as though people don’t fight for their marriages anymore. I mean unless there was abuse or cheating or something, then i can understand. I am wondering what happened….

from Nanea”No religion extorts that kind of money from people and doesn’t threaten members who want to quit with accidents or has a hand in them dying under dubious circumstances.”

Your right ”regular religion” priests have sex with little boys while the pope hides them in other states so they don’t get prosecuded. And then you have the other who sacrifice themselfs and others in the name of a ”God” simply because others dont practice the same religion has they do.

From where i stand cult or religion dont look all that great!!

OH, and back at the subject i think they split apart because of the distance thing!

If I had to guess, I’d say either:

    1) He wouldn’t commit to CO$
    2) One (or both) had an affair with a co-worker or close friend
    3) The long distance part of the relationship caused too much of a strain, or;
    4) a combination of all three

  17. lucy2 says:

I’m guessing it’s the distance – she works in LA, him in NY, and I would think CoS possibly was a factor as well. But if it’s either, both are things that should have really been worked out before committing to marriage.
I didn’t know she was CoS, I’m a littel disappointed to hear that. Looking it up, looks like she was born into it (which to me is more understandable than making the decision as an adult to join), and doesn’t really discuss it publicly.

  19. HotPockets says:

I don’t think people want to put in the effort to make relationships work, and it is easier just to split, then to take the time to commit and mend issues, especially in Hollywood.

Although, I am always shocked when people split right after tying the knot, because one person didn’t want kids or the other thought things would change once they were married, and 6 months down the line it’s divorce. My sister’s husband filed for divorce three weeks after the lavish wedding, because he told her even though they were married and she was pregnant, she would never be his top priority, she thought marriage would change that dynamic.

That being said, I’m sure different priorities, differences, and a lack of communication is always what makes people split.

Don’t be gullible. If she is Scientologist (which she is…pics of her on the internet at a function less than 3 weeks ago), there is your reason. Hate to see people separate, but I will secretly congratulate him.

I have a major problem of the idea of a “regular religion.” I assume “mainstream religion” is the idea that people are shooting for.

Anyway, Kaiser, why do you think he looks Catholic? Do we give a certain vibe? (I was raised Catholic, but haven’t been in a church of years… much to my mother & MIL’s chagrin)

Ahhhh, well would you look at that.

While Hollywood isn’t the place to look for people upholding marriage, here is an example regardless of what I am about to say now:

How will homosexuals getting married harm the institution of marriage when heterosexuals are abusing it all of the time? Marriage should be a lifetime commitment, NOT a 10 month contract.

I don’t watch Mad Men, I hear great things though. To be honest, my first reaction was “Holy crap! That’s the ‘Witch Mountain’ girl!” It’s nice to see that she is still working.

Is anyone truly surprised that a Hollywood marriage fell apart quickly?

She is very good in Mad Men. I’m always a little sad when actors/actresses I like are scientologists. I think it would be hard to be married to one if you were not into it.
