Well the union between Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon appears to definitely be legit – the pair filed for a marriage license on the Caribbean island of Eleuthera, where Carey has a home, according to People magazine. It also appears that they wed at her estate on the exclusive island.
“Touch My Body” singer Mariah Carey, 38, got secretly hitched yesterday to her 27-year-old boyfriend after a one-month relationship, shocking the chart-topping songbird’s family and friends. Carey married TV actor Nick Cannon at the home she just bought in Eleuthera in the Bahamas, a source close to the singer said.
“They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks,” the friend said. “And she’s always had a crush on him.”
Carey and her boy toy had tongues wagging when she was seen sporting Cannon on her arm and a shiny ring on her finger at the Tribeca Film Festival. Asked what he loved about Carey, Cannon reportedly cooed “everything.”
“Everyone is happy to see her happy,” Carey’s friend told The Post. “And it could work out - some people know each other for five years and get divorced. Maybe this is true, instant love

Well who could stand that feeling of being smitten for WEEKS? I mean that is just an intolerable length of time. The Post also says that Carey isn’t as dumb as we feared – she did get a quickie pre-nup. I didn’t know that was possible, but good for her for being somewhat smart while being fairly stupid. Linda Cannon – who People says is a relative of Nick’s, but doesn’t elaborate – says that after they married, Nick “called and told us all about it.”
While there’s still no official announcement, it seems like the pair probably did wed. My only suspicion was that Mariah was perhaps following the Ashlee Simpson school of thought (NEVER a good idea, no matter what the thought) of getting a lot of free press around the time of your CD release by starting a bunch of rumors you refuse to address. While that’s probably not what happened, the possibility is still sticking in my head, and I can’t help but wonder why Mariah chose to get married so quickly, and why right now.

Thats the same ring he gave to Selita when they were engaged. I also read that they did not have a pre-nup, don’t know how true it is. I also wonder why they got married so quick.

Diva, many sites I have read say it’s a similar ring. But Mariah’s has a larger, pink center stone while Selita’s was a couple carats smaller and colorless. Cannon designed them himself.

I think after having a go at being married to a man much older than her, Mimi fancies trying it out with a much younger man; see if it helps her stunted ego to blossom any. She’s trying it on for size - like one one of her 63,000,000,000,000 pairs of shoes. If it doesnt fit…well, we all know what divas do with shoes that don’t fit.

Congrats Mariah & Nick! I’m sure you’ve accomplished in breaking many guys’ hearts with this news including my buddy Erick Martinez of Concord. We used to listen to your music on the way to San Francisco to set the mood for a night of drinking Cisco Malt Liquor (yuk!…but it was cheap) and spending the evening as a couple at strip clubs. This was back in the “#1’s” release day. He was only interested in the hot ladies that had some kind of resemblance to you! Thanks for the good times then and now!

First off…Nick Cannon’s money is long. He is like part owner of Nickoloden(or however you spell it). He owns like 2 or 3 companies. Mariah has money too but Nick ain’t no poor man. He doesn’t need her money which is probably why she married him. Leave them alone. So what they got married? If it lasts, it does. If not, so what? Love them or just leave them alone.

I am so happy for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. I hope he want be like her ex-husband Tommy. She looks happy so thats all that matters and he seems to be happy. So have a great life Mimi and Nick have a great bahamian Lovestory. LOVE YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although, isn’t there something weird with Bahaimian (sp?) law when it comes to the American court system? Didn’t this come up with Anna Nicole and her marriage and the custody stuff? I don’t remember, but maybe that was a point for getting married there versus here?
