Christina Hendricks’ gorgeous rack can sell pretty much anything

ch23

Have I mentioned how much I love that Christina Hendricks keeps getting more and more publicity? She’s pretty awesome, and I love that Christina is now recognized as awesome enough to be the “face” of a major ad campaign. Christina is the newest face for London Fog – a brilliant piece of cross-promotion, considering the company London Fog was used brilliantly in a few episodes of Mad Men. Plus, now I really want to buy some London Fog sh-t, so it’s working. I want that leopard-print trench!!!!

Christina Hendricks’ Mad Men character, Joan Harris, brings sass and seduction to the AMC hit show, and now the sultry red-head is lending her sex appeal to London Fog. Following in the stylish footsteps of Gisele Bundchen and Eva Longoria Parker, Christina will star in the label’s fall 2010 ad campaign.

“London Fog is a classic brand, which I love. It also ties into Mad Men, we used London Fog in the show and this was a nice way to tie everything together,” the Emmy-nominated actress says of the outerwear label. “The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone – it worked in the 1960s and it works now.”

And it was Christina’s own timeless glamour and sophistication that landed her the role, according to the label.

“Christina has a modern appeal but also harks back to a bygone era,” adds the brand’s chief marketing officer, Dari Marder. Shot by Nino Muñoz, the elegant black-and-white ads feature Hendricks posing seductively in London Fog coats and accessories, and are set to debut in October fashion and lifestyle magazines as well as outdoor and online.

[From People]

Ooh… I’m having the best time looking at London Fog’s site. They really have some cool stuff there – but I’m saying that as a coat whore. I love a good coat. I love a good trench, peacoat, raincoat, fleece pullover, whatever you’ve got. This sounds like an advertisement, doesn’t it? I can’t help it, I’m totally going to buy that leopard-print trench.

One more thing about Christina – she’s also the “model” for a friend’s line of scarves on the website Esty. Damn, now I want some scarves too. I will literally buy whatever Christina is selling. If Christina was trying to sell my nuclear weapons, I would be pulling out my check card.

Yum. <.< Really cute pics of her. I wish I had gotten into Mad Men but I think it comes on the same time as True Blood and well True Blood wins.

  2. K-MAC says:

She is delicious! She makes me really appreciate my body!!!! What a knock out of a woman….I am so happy for her success! May it grow to all that she desires!

  3. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Love love love Christina Henricks. She’s gorgeous and I’m glad she’s getting some publicity too-I’m in her category for giant, natural boobed women and people say we can’t wear trenches. Bwa ha ha!

  4. Sans says:

    Hubba hubba baby.

  5. Brianna says:

I’m now obsessed with the leopard trench too, but can’t find it on the site. Can anyone find it?

  6. fizXgirl31114 says:

it’s getting a bit lame to boil a woman down to her breasts… at some point I was glas a curvier woman was being featured but this is a bit ridiculous…

  7. meme says:

    She is GORGEOUS.

  8. Persistent Cat says:

I want that coat so badly.

I just started watching Mad Men. I’m almost finished season 1. I’m watching it with my husband and he’s not like me, he only wants to watch one episode a night whereas I’m ready to devote my weekend to devouring them.

There was one episode where Joan was wearing a leopard print swing coat. I died inside. I just bought a pair of leopard print pumps from Nine West and I can’t wait for fall. I hear you on being a coat whore. I love living in a cold climate because fall/winter clothes are my favourite. This is the time of year when I start counting down the days to the cooler weather so I can wear boots and tights and sweaters and gloves……

  9. aenflex says:

Well, fizxgirl, I am inclined to go along with you, but then again, isn’t she sort of the one boiling herself down to mere breasts?

  10. Brooke says:

I honestly don’t think this chick’s that special. Maybe if I watched television I would be impressed with her, but the only time I’ve seen her act was in Firefly and I thought she was forgettable.

Any road, the main problem I have is her sort of carrying the torch for the ‘acceptance of her body type’, which has always seemed fraudulent, as she’s constantly hideously dressed, implying that it’s ‘the best she can do’ with a real body; and furthermore, her only pleasing combinations are 100% about her breasts.

The sham’s even more noticeable here in the first shot: you know those implants were purchased to balance her pear shape (her hips remain her widest part) and yet in that photo her tits are the widest part of her body. Everyone’s embracing this figure, huh? Pah. She’s happily the sum of her silicone.

  11. original kate says:

these photos are so pretty and she is finally styled well. yay!

  12. Katie says:

Mad Men comes on AFTER True Blood, so you should watch them both. Also, as much as I find True Blood super addictive, Mad Men is a much better show…better writing, better acting, etc. Very different shows though. Love them both.

Christina looks great in these ads.

  13. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Thanks Katie. I fell sooo far behind though on the series because I haven’t watched it since season one. What season is Mad Men on now?

  14. canadianchick says:

Hotness. Good for her and if I looked anything but a cinched tubesteak in trenches, I’d probably buy one.

  15. Sumodo1 says:

I am so glad I bought (another maker’s) leopard trench. (Stylin’)

  16. Raven says:

I doubt she’s the new “face” of anything. People’s eyes are drawn lower, especially the way she’s styled and posed. If fact, I’m surprised that they get around to looking at the clothing.

  17. Jeri says:

She’s beautiful. A very good example of DIVERSITY. Women don’t have to have the same shape, all be slender or all be fat. The differences are what make people special.

  18. TQB says:

HUGE step up from Giselle, London Fog. Well played.

  19. Mika says:

Wasn’t London Fog once featured as a Stirling Cooper account?

  20. Bunny says:

I love her, and her curves. I thought she was beautiful in Firefly, I am glad she is getting lots of work.

I love the picture of her in the mens dress shirt with tie.

  21. TaylorB says:

Persistant Cat wrote: “I love living in a cold climate because fall/winter clothes are my favourite.”

By the spelling I suspect you may be Canadian, that being said as a Minnesotan… ARE YOU CRAZY???? Holy hell, here it is ‘fashion be damned’ and we don the snow pants, parkas and moon boots for the 3-4 months where the temps hit a ‘high’ in the negative numbers. 😉

  22. HotPockets says:

She is way MORE of a woman than Gisele and much more sexy. I am glad she is the face of a major ad campaign. She really is a real, beautiful woman. I am not going to lie though, I hate how she dresses for red carpet appearances .

  23. Gwen says:

I think she’s beautiful and I love that she gets more attention.

  24. Anj says:

I WANNNNNNNT THAT COAT IN SECOND PIC!!!!

    DESPERATELY!!!

  25. Steef says:

    It’s ETSY, not ESTY.

  26. LolaBella says:

She is absolutely stunning and I’m glad that she’s getting a lot of attention both for her body type and for her acting talent.

I do fear though that the focus is going to be constantly on her body as she’s taking advantage of the media’s current obsession with it (see all of the photo shoots etc.)

I hope I don’t see her on the cover of People mag two years from now crying about how she can’t get certain roles because the directors can’t get past her sexpot ‘hello, here are my boobs’ look.

I MUST have that black coat in the second pic. So many buttons, love it!

  27. jeane says:

Great pictures, but I wonder if people will recognize her with clothes on.

  28. OC lady says:

On Jezebel, they are talking about how that first pic is photoshopped to make her hips look MUCH thinner. Yet, somehow they left her rack intact? She looks really top heavy.

Jezebel has this policy for showing the reality as much as possible, as they believe photoshop is unfair and presents an unrealistic image to women. They’ve been fighting over Aniston’s unphotoshopped pics. Apparently they put before/after photoshop pics of Aniston up, and the lawyers went after them big time. They still left the pics up though.

  29. Liana says:

I covet the trench. I think she’s prettier when she’s not giving that vacant open mouthed stare, though.

(if this disappears as spam, I might cry)

  30. Alicia says:

does anyone know where the gray dress came from? It’s awesome, I’d love to get one but I don’t see it on their site..

  31. California Surfer says:

This chick should totally do a great french movie with some nudity in it and it totally wouldn’t matter if she didn’t speak the language.

  32. Maritza says:

Simply gorgeous! That leopard coat looks great on her, on me it would look like a potato sack! With a body and face like hers anything looks great!

  33. Emily says:

@OC Lady, I noticed that too. If you compare that pic to the lower ones, her hips are noticeable skinnier.

On another note, WHY are they advertising that leopard print coat when it’s not on their freaking website?! I NEED IT! That ad’s a tease.

  34. d says:

    I think she looks great.

I agree with Jezebel pointing out the before/after craziness on photos, but I still think that before shot of Aniston was a mis-shoot by the photographer (e.g., bad lighting, etc. [whether that bad shot was done deliberately is another matter, as is how it was released]). I don’t think Aniston looks that bad naturally. I think someone’s yanking Jezebel’s chain on that one.

  35. lucy2 says:

I love that she models for her friend’s etsy! And I love etsy, it’s awesome.
Good for her for getting a major ad campaign. I’m with Jeri – I like the diversity of seeing actresses and models of different body types having mainstream success.

  36. Persistent Cat says:

@TaylorB, there are a few of us that prefer the cold. We’re rare but we exist. I hate the summer heat, especially the humid heat wave we had. I love wool coats and matching my gloves to my boots and wearing turtlenecks. You can dress for the cold and still look good. I have a body similar to Christina’s. We look better dressed.

  37. Rosanna says:

I like her face and she is indeed a beautiful woman. However, she’s so much of a hourglass that – like Kim Kardashian – she does look like a caricature (more like Barbie or Jessica Rabbit rather than a person).

  38. bunny pissed says:

too much exposure too fast. am i the only one who was intrigued at first and has grown annoyed?
