Or they grandfather you in under the old program. It depends on how close you were to the end and the program, etc. I know a girl who couldn't pass calculus after multiple tries and that was the last class she needed for a degree. 10 years later, they agreed to give her the same degree if she could pass that calculus class. But I understand why some would think it's unfair.
