I'm not saying anything against that at all. It's just easier on the child if you don't introduce them to someone until you feel that the relationship is serious, committed and long term. I can't imagine anything more heartbreaking to a child then getting a new friend to look up to and have fun with only to have him disappear three or six months later. Doesn't matter how you explain it to him. Poor thing already has niggling thoughts that he's the reason mommy and daddy don't live together any more.
