Blake Lively name-drops Anna Wintour during interview for Marie Claire UK

I know most of you hate Blake Lively. I understand. She’s kind of a pill, and she’s not really very talented. But she’s pretty! And she photographs beautifully and she’s really into clothes and showing off her boobs and her legs, and for some reason, that combination struck a cord with Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Wintour has given Blake Lively two (TWO) Vogue covers in less than two years. And since I subscribe to Vogue, I can tell you that Blake has also been featured in other issues where she’s not even the cover girl, like this: Blake and Anna’s whirlwind adventure in Paris to see the shows. Anyway, it seems that little Blake is so in love with Wintour, that she name-drops her into normal conversation – even when she’s doing an interview for Marie Claire UK (full pictorial here).

Move over, Leighton Meester! Blake Lively has a new BFF on the Upper East Side: Anna Wintour, the notorious Vogue editor-in-chief who reportedly inspired the roman à clef The Devil Wears Prada!

The 23-year-old Gossip Girl actress — who has appeared on the fashion mag’s cover twice in two years — opens up about her new friendship with the famed fashion editor in the October issue of Marie Claire UK.

“I was speaking with Anna Wintour and we were just talking about different fashion houses and I said, ‘I love Chanel,’ and she said, ‘You should come with me to the show,'” Lively recalls. “I also said I loved Dior. She said, “Okay, well I’ll take you to the Chanel and Dior shows and we’ll meet with Karl [Lagerfeld] and John [Galliano] afterwards.’ Insane!”

And Lively says she’s learned a lot from sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week with the 60-year-old editor.

“I’ve always loved fashion. That’s why I don’t use a stylist,” Lively tells the mag. “It’s such an expression of self.”

Though she’s happy to dish on her newfound friendship, Lively stays mum on her relationship with costar Penn Badgley, 23.

“At the end of the day, you’re just in any relationship. How does anybody go to work every day and come home?” she asks. “You just do it and it either works or it doesn’t.”

[From Us Weekly]

Is it rude to talk about another magazine’s editor when you’re doing an interview with a fashion magazine? Is it cheesy to name-drop Anna Wintour like she’s the end-all of fashion? Is Blake a conceited little bitch? Am I totes jealous? The answer to all those questions and more is “yes.” Also, I have to admit – this Marie Claire photo shoot is lovely. It’s even better than Blake’s shoots with Vogue. Take that, Anna Wintour!

You’d think her plastic surgery left her with the inability to close her mouth.

  2. Jean says:

    I like Blake.
She might be in Megan Fox territory talent wise, but at least she doesn’t suffer from foot-in-mouth disease.
Plus, her legs are absolutely to die for.

  3. annaloo says:

Okay, the pic with the puppy made me melt, and I’ll like her just for that.

Hey, it’s a gossip site.. we all know we’re being superficial here!

  4. Cam says:

She’s beautiful, and has an amazing body. No, she cannot act.. but hell, she loves fashion! Plus, she’s famous. No wonder why fashion magazines are so into her. I kinda like her, for real :); and not only because I’m a Gossip Girl fan (I’ve read all the books the serie is based on, and well… when the show came out, I HAD TO WATCH IT, now it’s like my guilty pleasure Nº 1).

  5. susanne says:

The photos are great- with the exception of the cover, they’re shockingly un-Shopped. I kept looking at them, thinking, these look so….real!

She is gorgeous- don’t know about her acting. We’ll see how she is on the big screen with the Town.

  6. Cinderella says:

Instead of asking “How’s Penn”, they should have asked her “How’s Ben.”

  7. TG says:

She is very pretty but nothing interesting about her, there are a million girls in hollywood who look just like her. And when Julia Roberts was in her early 20’s she was playing grown up roles not high school teeny bopper stuff so if these girls want to be taken seriously they need to do mature interesting work.

  8. Steeze says:

    mouth breather.

  9. jen says:

    @Cinderella-LOL!

  10. Juice in LA says:

    @elusive: Brilliant!

I don’t get this one- she’s just another nondescript long skinny pretty blonde- yawn. Anybody can make this girl look gorgeous. Why do we celebrate fashion designers and photographers who make skinny girls pretty.
Make a fat girl look amazing and then I say you have real talent.

  11. allison says:

she is SO gorgeous! and i really do like her as an actress. I don’t watch gossip girl these days, but she was the best part of sisterhood of the traveling pants- perfect for the role!

  12. original kate says:

fishsticks lite should know better than to talk about anna wintour, ever, for any reason… she’ll cut a bitch.

  13. Lynn says:

@ elusive…Exactly what I was thinking. The worst of the open mouthers are Jennifer Lopez and the freakin Kar-douche-ian chick.

  14. juliana says:

    Sorry, but I don’t get this girl’s appeal…

  15. Mara says:

She’s one that everytime I read something about her I think she has GOT to be more interesting in person. I mean she’s not hateable for me- what has she done to hate?- but she’s also just not that interesting. Yet all these crazy cool people spend all this time with her and seem to love her so maybe there’s something there I’m not seeing? IDK. She seemed kind of cool in that Interview interview with Ben Affleck.

I’m in wait and see mode on this girl. She’s never done anything offensive, she keeps her personal crap together, she’s certainly pretty enough, she has an insane body, she takes awesome pictures, and she really seems to want a great career but she’s not going the disgusting famewhore route to get it. She’s actually doing some pretty interesting film roles. All good BUT she’s also never done anything that actually makes me full out like her either which is where the hesitation remains. As far as acting talent goes, she wasn’t bad in Private Lives with Pippa Lee so I’ll wait to make judgment on her in The Town. I refuse to judge her for anything she does on Gossip Girl. The writing for Serena is too awful to hold her solely accountable.

  16. funnygirl says:

no, shes not a good actress but I want to look like her!! lol

  17. canadianchick says:

Lovely photo shoot. I’m sure Ben and Penn think so too.

  18. BethL says:

I just want to squeeze and kiss that dog so much.

  19. Isa says:

I like her. A lot. I’m not sure why, but she’s pretty and has a nice figure.

  20. Bee says:

Blake’s tall, beautiful, and has a smokin’ hot body. That’s all it takes in Hollywood to succeed initially. Only time will tell if she actually has any talent.

  21. Dhavy says:

@ Lynn – LOL so true

I don’t get it either, but wouldn’t she be considered a “fatty” to Wintour?

  22. Ruffian9 says:

    Want the puppy

  23. amirza says:

    @elusive – LMFAO

She’s beautiful, but Leighton Meester is cooler and more talented..

  24. Camille says:

Lovely pics, she looks gorgeous in them. I don’t hate this chick, sure she doesn’t seem to have much of a personality, but she doesn’t bother me.
Also, how damn cute is that dog!

  25. anna drops says:

Every time I watch Gossip Girl (yes, I watch it – guilty as charged – mostly for the interesting fashion, though)and see Blake, I’m thinking ‘hmm, I like the fact her bottom is bigger than the usual starved model’s behind, and yet she is not afraid to show it off.’ See, to me she is neither skinny nor athletic, rather curvy and feminine. She is a pleasure to look at. And we need girls like that on tv!
