Angelina Jolie & Johnny Depp in the first mini-clips from ‘The Tourist’

Photo by: KGC16/starmaxinc.com 2010 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED 2/25/10 Angelina Jolie on the set of her new film, The Tourist . (Paris, France)

Oooh, some tiny little snippets of The Tourist have come out! Apparently, the full trailer is going to debut later on today, so we’ll be able to see with better detail whether Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie have any chemistry together (hint: they could both have chemistry with a pile of dirt). The basic gist of the story is that Depp plays “the tourist” traveling in Venice, where he meets Jolie’s character, and danger and seduction happen. Here are the clips, combined from various entertainment shows last night:

Um… are they both playing it with accents? Or am I hearing things? Depp sounds like America by way of France (naturally), where Angelina seems to be doing some kind of English lilt? Is it just me?

One more piece of Jolie news – in a poll conducted by WENN (the photo agency based in the UK), Angelina won the title “Best Celebrity Role Model”. Other celebrites who made the list: Clooney, Bono and… Miley?

ANGELINA JOLIE’s dedication to campaigning against atrocities around the world has earned the big-hearted Hollywood star the title of Best Celebrity Role Model in a new online poll. The United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, who last week (ends10Sep10) visited victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan, won nearly half of all votes registered on WENN.com.

Jolie scored 43 per cent, ahead of Oscar winner George Clooney, himself a United Nations Messenger of Peace, who took second place with 23 per cent. Teen superstar Miley Cyrus was a surprise entry in third place with 15 per cent – she even scored more votes than campaigning rocker Bono, who had to settle for fourth place and just 14 per cent of votes. Christian musicians The Jonas Brothers rounded out the poll in fifth, with five per cent of votes.

[From WENN]

Good for them, I suppose. Um, Miley? She’s not the worst role model ever, but really? It also sucks for Bono to come in fourth, right? Speaking on Bono, did you guys here that he’s The Worst Investor in America? Bono can’t pick a winning stock to save his life, apparently.

This has to be the least sexiest look for Johnny Depp.

  2. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Yay!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! Excitement. Uhhh I heard Angie with a little bit of an accent but we won’t know until we see the trailer in full. However it looks fantastic already. They look really good together.

  3. cee says:

I like the look of this movie. Nice to see Johnny in another one of his different personas and Jolie is absolutely mesmerizing to look at. CCan’t wait for a romantic thriller.

  4. Sunshine says:

Depp looks like a fat dirty pig. Those accents are horrible

  5. Eve says:

“Depp looks like a fat dirty pig”

I’d love to roll in the mud with that pig.

  6. onyx says:

    @sunshine!
    my thoughts exactly.

  7. Praise St. Angie! says:

le sigh…I think I’d actually want to see this movie if it were two different actors. ones I had never heard of.

I find it hard to believe almost any well known actor in a role these days because, almost without exception, their ACTUAL persona outshines the character they’re playing.

for example, I recently saw Inglourious Basterds. That first scene in the farmhouse, and the scene when Shoshanna has dinner with Goebbles, were SO tense and believable because I didn’t know any of the actors in those scenes. I was able to believe I was really watching a nervous French farmer and a Nazi Jew hunter. Or an in-hiding Jew having dinner with Hitler’s minister of propaganda.

in contrast, when I saw Pitt in his first scene, talking to the men he had recruited for the Basterds, all I could think was “isn’t Pitt hilarious with that accent”. All I could see was “BRAD PITT” playing a character, not the character himself. Ditto for Depp in the Pirates movies. I see Depp playing Sparrow, not Sparrow himself.

and I say this in regard to EVERY movie star of that fame level. as a movie lover, it’s quite disappointing.

  8. olivia says:

    @Sunshine:
Angelina looks as awful as Deep…

  9. Solveig says:

Ok, I’m Johnny Depp’s fan since I was a small kid and he was in 21 Jump Street, but he looks like s**t in this clip.
    The sadness.

  10. teehee says:

    Ehh, her acting is boring.
Not so sure if anyone notices that amongst all the tabloid hooha always following her and the Pittster and his ex.

  11. angie fan says:

Ooooooh loving it already. My heart went a-flutter with the kissing scene. Angie & Johnny, Johnny & Angie, this is going to be hot!

    Angie looks gorgeous and lethal.

  12. Super Sleuth says:

@Praise St. Angie!: Ditto. I totally agree.

  13. Lisa says:

I LOVVVEEE Johnny Depp.. any way shape or form…….. I will have a really hard time watching him kiss Angelina… not because I hate her or anything but because I have loved him also since 21 Jump Street (although he hated doing that show) and have remained a fan ever since.. *Sigh* I love him.. he wants me, he just hasnt met me yet. 🙂

  14. mercy says:

Dear Johnny … you’re a man of many looks … a true actor. And the real you is a person of such humility and charm. Even in this little clip you turned me to butter. (I must say I do prefer your slightly puffy look in the Tourist to your look in Edward Scissorhands, and to your look as the scruffy drunk pirate.)

  15. gem says:

@7 Thank U, I believe a lot of great movies(or those who have the potential to be) are ruined by casting over exposed and over casted actors and actresses, some unknowns would be nice

  16. Moreaces says:

She is one beautiful woman, And Yes I am a fan.

  17. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Well Gem there are plenty of unknowns getting work, maybe you haven’t seen their work because you don’t know them. What you wrote was just stupid. How is a movie ruined by casting someone famous? That makes no sense. If you can’t use your imagination and suspend your belief for an evening to enjoy a movie because an actor is well known ok. That is your personal problem. The rest of the people in the world have the simple power to use their imagination and enjoy a movie. Now the movie can be very good even if someone who is famous is in it, not the actors fault people don’t have imagination. Goodness people must have really sucked at playing house when they were little. The act of acting is lost on a lot of people nowadays with this garbage of overexposure and sh*t. Its a fu*king movie and these are actors.

  18. Moreaces says:

@Sunshine, he may look a bit blotted, but a pig,,, really now.

  19. Chris says:

Angelina looks stunning and beautiful but Johnny Depp looks fat. Why is he so bloated? Is it for the part. Does it require a fat man?

  20. maj says:

Hum. I don’t see that much chemistry beteween them. More, Angelina seems too stiff, and that could be ok, but he seems just someone looking for the next beer at the pub.

  21. Moreaces says:

    @ Love Angelina,
Well Gem there are plenty of unknowns getting work, maybe you haven’t seen their work because you don’t know them. What you wrote was just stupid. How is a movie ruined by casting someone famous? That makes no sense
    +++++
I agree, that post made zero sense, We would have a million actors running around if ever movie had to have an unknown,, I just dont know what kind of thinking went into that post.

  22. Crash2GO2 says:

@Love Angelina: I assure you, it is not a movie goer’s ‘personal problem’ that a star’s persona gets in the way of a story. Only a very very good actor/actress can make us forget who it is we are looking at and be drawn into the story. Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, and even Johnny Depp have those qualities.

Angelina does not, nor does Brad Pitt. They may be stars and big box office draws, but they are not actors of that same caliber. *shrug*

  23. RHONYC says:

    @ Girafe99

    wh-wh-WHAT?!

where in the hell are his famous high cheekbones…he’s a total porker in this!

vanessa was probably feeding him tons of foix gras to make him fat and less sexy to the black widow. lol 🙂

  24. DeanJolie says:

    Angelina is Gorges:) duh.

  25. Camille says:

@LoveAngelina, I think that what #7 means is that some actor’s personal lives are so overexposed, that it is difficult to see them as other than themselves, acting. Because we feel like we know so much about Brangelina, since they aren’t private at all, and because they are so constanlty in our faces, it is hard to see them blend into the character, but rather we see Brad Pitt, acting, or Angelina Jolie, acting… With actors like Rachel Weicz, or Hugh Jackman, you don’t really know anything about their families, couple, love lives, children. There is mystery left and therefore they can much more easily blend into a character.

  26. Circe says:

They’re kinda hot together still. It’s Depp. He works the beard better than Pitt.

And I applaud Miley Cyrus for not getting out of a limo without her underwear on.

  27. olivia says:

Is this a remake of some french movie?

  28. Mairead says:

They both seem to be doing “Englishy” accents. Could be worse I suppose – at least they’re picking an appropriate accent for their class.

@Love Angelina – it depends a little on how well you know the actors. In Inglourious Basterds, for example, I was very familiar with Daniel Bruhl and Michael Fassbender, to a lesser extent. Bruhl in particular is usually “the nice guy” and it was great to see him turn so spectacularly at the end. Although I agree somewhat; after a while huge stars just seem to be nothing more than a persona in costume, e.g. Tom Cruise.

But, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – fast forward through the “American” bits of IB and you have yourself an excellent film.

  29. bellebeesting says:

what Gem, crash2go2, others said, ITA

  30. nnn says:

I think it’s not the actor lack of talent. I mean Jodie Foster, Cate Winslet and Robert De Niro are still themselves in every movie though they are really talented.

Katheryn Hepburn used to hate Meryl Streep acting because she supposedly uses the same gimicks and gestures and she could see Meryll in every role she did. I feel the same with kate Blanchett, she is herself too.

It’s a matter of charisma, which they can’t help, not a matter of talent.

And I am sorry we, people, know like 2% of all actors in the industry. The majority of movies that are available in the market wether through DVD, theaters, ect feature actors we don’t know nothing about, including from foreign countries. We just don’t look for it out of laziness and because precisely we are more inclined to watch a movie featruring our favourite idole.

people will watch a movie because their idole is in it.Poeple choices weigh a lot on the financial return of a movie, hence those stars are booked because they bring in the money, because the majority LOVE them in those movies.

It’s a multi billion business, it’s Show BUSINESS, a business where the deciding parties won’t put their multi millions investments on the 99,9 % of the less famous ones because they know that a minority will only see the movie versus a majority based on the star resume.

  31. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Yea crash it is the moviegoers fault they can’t enjoy a movie because they know alot about the person playing the character. Yea it is their fault. I watch movies and TV shows all the time with actors who do interviews and they reveal details of their personal lives and I can still enjoy their film and get into the plot and connect with their characters. Angelina is a very good actress one of the best working today and I am always able to become absorbed in her characters and the people she portrays on screen.

I think people allow themselves to become distracted with tabloid crap and other BS but I enjoy the art of acting, I can get into a plot and I can immerse myself into the story, I don’t care who the person is acting, if the story is good and engaging, well acted, I will enjoy it. People should really let some of their baggage go with actors and when you go see a movie, just watch it, pay attention to the story.

If the actor is talented, the story good, you find subtle and amazing things they are able to bring to character. At the very least you watch an interesting story. Just stop bringing crap with you when watch movie, its acting.

  32. skibunny says:

Love Angelina I’m with Crash2GO2 & Camille on this one as well.

  33. Kaiser says:

    *shrug*

I guess Love Angelina & I are the only ones who think Angelina is one of the best actresses of her generation? Weird. But I thought Jolie did some of her best work as a dramatic actress in A Mighty Heart & Changeling. Different Strokes.

  34. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Well from the clips, it looks awful. I’ll wait until the full trailer comes out to really get a formed opinion about it but vague, English-y accents bug the heck out of me because they usually don’t make any sense in terms of the characters.

I agree with Praise and others. It’s nice watching movies and things with actors who aren’t all over the media and shoving their faces down our throats. You can get into the character better when you have no real idea of who the person is behind the character. That’s why some actors like Meryl Streep have such longevity. You still know it’s Meryl Streep but you aren’t wondering what her passel of children were doing when she was filming.

Love Angelina: I think you are just offended because someone said they didn’t like Angelina’s acting. Personally, I don’t think she can act her way out of a paper bag. This lastest foray into accents for her should be hilarious-everyone knows that she is awful at doing accents. Why does she even bother?

The others are right though. In this day and age with so much access to celebrities and their private lives, it is difficult to separate an actor from their character, especially if they aren’t that great of an actor and the story and script just aren’t there as is the case with a lot of movies these days.

@Kaiser: Best actresses of her generation? What have you been smoking? I’ve never seen A Mighty Heart because, quite frankly, I just can’t stand watching her attempt to act but I’ve seen Changeling. Man o man, her whole “didyoukillmyson?” endless reel made me want to smack her in the face.

  35. Super Sleuth says:

She played the same role in both of those movies. Not much of a stretch, IMO.

  36. SamSam says:

    No Kaiser, you two aren’t.

These snips were like the best foreplay.. ever.

  37. olivia says:

One of the best actresses of her generation? Seriously? Woman with 7 Razzie Awards nominations for worst actress? 🙂

  38. Mairead says:

Ah yeah – but the accent in Alexander? *shudder* Macedonia by way of Bela Lugosi.

I do agree, that I thought she was as good as the flabby script (and flabbier direction) of “Changeling” allowed her to be. But even there there was not that much meat to the Christine character. The character was seen through the prisim of the male characters. Which in one way, might be fair enough given the patriarchal society of 1920s California and the treatment of the real person. However, considering how fast and loose they played with historical facts, it just comes across as the typical modern Hollywood approach to women – something to fill the screen, react to men and preferably take off their clothes. It’s a shame because there’s a bloody good film in the story and Angelina could have done a fine job of it.

  39. teri says:

Kaiser, I also agree with you. Angelina did wonderful in Changeling and Mighy Heart. Best actress of this genertion.

  40. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Skibunny I am shocked. I am stunned. You are like always on my side and all of sudden your playing for the other team, I am heartbroken. Me and you were like this *crosses two fingers together* on everything. What happened?

Olivia Angelina never actually won any of them. So…your point would be what with that post? Angie has never bad enough to win a bad acting award must mean she is pretty damn good.

  41. angie fan says:

I liked her in Taking Lives and the Bone Collector. Yeah, I prefer if she didn’t use an accent in her movies, except for Tomb Raiders. She does a decent British accent.

  42. Kim says:

Can’t wait till Dec. I assume JD ‘s role required for him to look a little chubby because he looked fine in Alice .Also Salt has made $273 Million worlwide 116.4 domestic and 156.8M foreign. Pretty good for a fim not based on a book and not a sequel IMO. Can’t wait for Salt 2

  43. TaylorB says:

I think she seems to be a very giving person, and her beauty is astounding, however I have seen most of her films and she seems at her best in action films. She should be wicked proud, hell I am proud to see a woman action star. Not that she is a bad actress, but she seems better suited to the action stuff than the comedy or drama, it takes some serious chops like Meryl to pull that off. Just my opinion.

  44. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Love Angelina: She was crappy enough in seven separate films to be recognized for her bad acting seven separate times. That is a lot. In terms of the Razzies for acting, she keeps company with these other illustrious 7 time nominees: Jennifer Lopez, John Travolta, Ben Affleck, and Bo Derek. She’s gotten more Razzie nominations than Rob Schneider.

Rob Schneider. I know that The Golden Raspberries are essentially a joke, but no one argues with the fact that they really do recognize bad acting when they see it.

  45. Kaiser says:

The Hamm – Four times. Not seven.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001401/awards

Plus, you know, she’s actually won a lot of other awards too, like Golden Globes and an Oscar, SAGs, critics awards.

But, as I said, different strokes. I think she’s a fine actress, and I’m looking forward to The Tourist.

  46. Bee says:

@Praise St. Angie! I agree with you about movie stars overpowering the roles that they are in. That’s why a part of me is happy that movie stars are a dying breed. I love watching a movie or tv show and having no idea who the actors are at first. It really allows me to buy the actors as their characters and not their off screen personas.

That’s one of the reasons Mad Men is such a great show. Most of the actors were unknowns, so they just became the characters. I used to roll my eyes when Leonardo DiCaprio would talk about guarding his privacy so that people would see him as an actor first. But, I think that strategy is actually working for him. When I saw him in Inception I actually bought him more as a character because I don’t really know much about him.

  47. Super Sleuth says:

    Kaiser: It is actually 7 times: 2 in 2002, 1 in 2003, 2 in 2004, and 2 in 2005 according to IMDB.com.

  48. LOVE ANGELINA says:

LOL Hamm how can a mili-second of a clip show you that a movie is bad. I mean can your bias be anymore obvious. I mean hell if it was the trailer for the film and you thought it looked awful, which when the trailer comes out I am sure you will be here and saying its awful, but this was like a 2 sec clip of the trailer and its from multiple entertainment shows and its the same clip of the same scenes. Jeez.

I don’t care if someone says Angie isn’t a good actress. They are wrong BTW but whatever like Kaiser said different strokes for people who don’t know what talent is…well thats not exactly what Kaiser said but you know. I am a big enough person to let someone have their opinion.

I took bigger offense, not really even offense, annoyance more, to people talking about how they can’t watch a film because a huge star is in it or a star who is the media alot. I mean people who get so caught up in someones life they can’t enjoy a movie are ridiculous. I don’t like Jen Aniston but I can say I watch some of her films when they come on TV, and when Horrible Bosses comes out and if it gets decent reviews I wanna see that to, I am not gonna pay to see it and put money in her pocket but when it comes on cable I will watch it. If someone else pays I would go see it to.

I think I have heard this Angie is to overexposed crap enough that I am irritated. Angie IMO delivers great performances and she doesn’t deserve to have the tabloid crap glum on to the acting work she does, dragging her down. I don’t like that.

  49. Praise St. Angie! says:

Kaiser, she was nominated 7 times. four different years, but three of those years she was nominated twice, for two different films.

“Angie has never bad enough to win a bad acting award must mean she is pretty damn good.”

by that logic, anyone who’s been NOMINATED for an Oscar but hasn’t WON must be pretty damn bad.

  50. Crash2GO2 says:

@Kaiser: Check your link again. I count 7. 2 years she won 2 Razzies each.

  51. OC lady says:

    @Kaiser. I agree.

I think she has her moments as an actor. She was stronger when she started out (Gia, Girl Interupted) but she still delivers (Mighty Heart, Changeling). Altho a little over the top in Changeling, but . . . she is always watchable. How shocking that the same ppl who dislike Angie as a person also criticize her as an actress! 😉 Hardly objective criticism there. 🙂

I do agree that fame gets in the way of acting. That’s why the smart actors keep their private lives to themselves. I definitely respect those actors much more. And I’m definitely not looking forward to another round of “Brad and the kids!” when she does the press tour. Ugh–hopefully, she finds other things to talk about.

That being said, I’ll definitely watch this when it comes out. It looks interesting to me. And, I’m a fan of the screenwriters.

  52. Shi-gatsu says:

please… let’s not confuse her gracious humanitarian efforts and overall poised personality with her acting.

Is she worth the praise for her generosity and charity? – yes.

Is she worth the praise for her acting ability? – my answer is no.

If you pay close attention to her dramatic roles – all she does is scream and cry in an effort to get an Oscar nod. Even Roger Ebert’s last two reviews of her movies were carefully worded to say she is only good in action roles, looking beautiful, and being great “at what she does very well.” (The Changeling review)Which to me means screaming and crying and being misunderstood a la Girl Interrupted.

As for the razzies vs. her awards. Her awards were won more than a decade ago. Her razzie nominations, although not won, were for films since her Oscar win. Granted she also was nominated for an Oscar pretty recently, however, she is inconsistent which means she does not deserve the title “one of the best actresses of her generation.”

  53. Kaiser says:

No, I’m right. Four TIMES, for SEVEN performances. You get ONE nomination for several films, like a critics award.

  54. Super Sleuth says:

Sorry to disagree, Kaiser, but if you read under the 2005 Category, it says:
“Worst Razzie Loser of Our First 25 Years” with 7 NOMINATIONS, including 2 for 2004.

This is from your link to imdb.com.

  55. nnn says:

Well Sandra Bullock was nominated for a Razzie (i don’t remembered if she won it too) the same year she was nominated and won the Oscar….less than a year ago. So according to that definition she is worst than Jolie since her razzie is more recent, right ?

That should means thats she is a good and a bad actress, right ?

Could it be that maybe, the movie chosen is the one that most definitely lead to that so so performance because there is no way that you can be both either way., and there is noway that you can use one rule for one and dismiss the other one based on the same rule.

  56. Crash2GO2 says:

Oops. Right, I stand corrected. Nominations, not wins. But nominated for 7 different performances in films overall.

  57. Kaiser says:

    *readjusting Brangeloonie tin foil cap*

For the love of God. I concede the semantic argument. I apologize for interjecting myself into this discussion. Whatever.

  58. Kim says:

Angie will continue talking about her family that’s a fact. Friendly Suggestion- Don’t read or listen to her interviews if you don’t want to her about “Brad and the kids”. Personally I enjoy the anectdotes.

  59. Super Sleuth says:

Sorry, Kaiser. I just read the link you provided. 🙂

  60. iKat says:

    Depp looks tubby

  61. Crash2GO2 says:

My goodness you loonies are touchy. 😉

Remember L. Angelina: Angelina is happy, so YOU are happy. Just keep repeating that to yourself and you’ll be OK.

Hey, before I even knew who she was I liked her in Bone Collector.

  62. Praise St. Angie! says:

“how can a mili-second of a clip show you that a movie is bad.”

maybe in the same way that it showed you that “it looks fantastic already”. YOUR WORDS. if you can tell that it looks fantastic from a few second-long clip, perhaps others can tell that it looks bad from a few second-long clip. I can’t tell either way, myself. Visually, I think it looks good, but plot/acting? no idea.

“I don’t care if someone says Angie isn’t a good actress.”

Please, don’t make me laugh. you absolutely do, which is why you respond every time someone does.

telling someone that what they wrote, that is, that their opinion is “stupid” is not very nice of you. you say that their opinion is wrong in the same breath that you say “different strokes”. which is it? are they ALLOWED to have a different opinion or not? THIS is why people find you to be annoying (and, is some cases, a “brangeloonie”). you’re opinionated about Jolie to the point that other people’s opinions are, according to you, WRONG.

people are allowed to think she’s not a great actress. I agree, she’s not great. not TERRIBLE, either. just not great. I think she does very well in roles like “Girl, Interrupted”, “Gia”, and the Tomb Raider movies. she does well with “crazy” and “action star”, but isn’t so good at heavy drama or comedy.

  63. skibunny says:

Sorry to let you down Angelina! Lol
She looks very pretty in that first picture though.

  64. Mistral says:

    Hahaha, Eve. Good one…

  65. jane16 says:

It looks like a fun movie, whether or not the two stars are at their best. Can’t wait to see it. I agree with the discussion about movie stars personas overwhelming their roles, btw. It is a distraction with a lot of them. One star that I think is so good at acting you don’t think about his star self is Tom Hanks. When I’m watching a Tom Hanks movie, I forget who he is. And I think Leo is close to being as good. I read an article over the weekend that said that overall movies are on the decline and tv has improved so much its taking its place. I kinda agreed with the article. Thanks to cable, there are a lotta good shows now.

  66. jane16 says:

    kaiser, you’re so funny!

  67. Heaven-bound says:

What? …. A Mighty Heart & Changeling, were one of the worst movies I have ever seen, actually I take that back, what was that stupid movie called Wanted… ugh! I wanted my money back and I actually just spent a dollar renting that movie at Red Box, ha ha.

Her supposed french accent was unbearable, she sucks as an actress, she is terrific at marketing her sexuality though, she is absolutely brilliant at that.

I say that one of the most beautiful women in the industry is Rachel Weisz, and she is a superb actor.

  68. lisa says:

I have not read the comments all; so someone may have pointed this out already..He suppose look Average and Ordinary. I am not a gaga fan of Depp..never found him that sex.. but I know others do.. So how he looks does not bother me. I have always felt he attractive in a off beat way.. but NEVER found him in the least bit sexy..

Angie looks beautiful. I won’t judge based on a few seconds.. that to me is just crazy.

OH and Big AWESOME JOB TO LLM.. I see lots of sites are using her video.. she is a great JP fan and make a lot of these kinds of videos for the fans that can’t see the shows..

It would be great when used she gets a bit of credit..

I will be seeing this in December..

  69. BethL says:

Wow the haters are pathetic. Based on 10 seconds of film and 2 or 3 sentences they decide the movie is awful and they have no chemistry. The teasers show absolutely nothing.

  70. Sunshine says:

OK Ladies and Gentlemen – perhaps I was a bit harsh on Johnny – I don’t mind a man with a “little more to hug” – but JD isn’t carrying his weight well – he looks bloated and dirty – he looked the same in thaat Cuban movie he did. Maybe he just doesn’t care anymore – but I don’t want to see him like this. I gotta say Angelina looks beautiful, but there is no chemistry and it looks poorly written, and – lets face it – AJ isn’t the best of actors

  71. Susannah Leigh says:

Johnny Depp and Jack White are rapidly becoming the same guy. I am TOTALLY okay with that.

  72. mln says:

I love them both and I think JD is sexy with a little bit of meat on him. I also think he was the only thing that made 21 Jump St worthwhile. As for the question of whether or not Angie can act I think she is still afraid to go really deep into characters(like she did in Gia and Girl Interrupted) because she is too affected by them but as far as raw talent there are few who match her (to be fair I never watched A Mighty Heart) .

  73. wonderful says:

“What you wrote was just stupid. How is a movie ruined by casting someone famous? That makes no sense. If you can’t use your imagination and suspend your belief for an evening to enjoy a movie because an actor is well known ok. That is your personal problem. The rest of the people in the world have the simple power to use their imagination and enjoy a movie.”
What is your problem? All the poster said was that seeing over-exposed celebrities in movies often yanks one out of the movie watching experience. I think a lot of people would agree with this idea, and I cannot imagine why you would find it offensive. I am not surprised, however, that you put such value into playing pretend.
You said in another post: “I mean can your bias be anymore obvious.” I hope you realize the hilarity in such a statement from yourself.

  74. LOVE ANGELINA says:

@PSA Yea make no mistake, I am in no way shape or form a Brangeloonie. So don’t call me that. I don’t really dislike Brad and I don’t really like him, he is just there and as long as he is a good man to the wonderful woman he is with, takes care of the babies Angie gave him, he is a-ok in my book.

Fine. I will concede my statement about Hamm calling the clip terrible. I would love to know what exactly was terrible in a 2 second clip though.

I also believe everyone has a right their opinion and if they think Angie can’t act, whatever. They can think what they want. They keep it and stuff it in their back pockets. I wanna be as fair as I can. So think and say what you want. I may wanna know why they think what they think because I don’t agree with it but have what ever opinion you want. IDC. I strongly disagree about Angie not being able to do heavy drama because she won an Oscar for a heavily dramatic role and pretty much all the major awards she has are from movies where she has played in a heavy dramas, but think what you want.

  75. wonderful says:

How can you claim to respect the fact that people have different opinions than the ones you hold, yet in the same sentence declare they should “stuff them in their back pockets”? You shove your opinion upon everyone who dares post, then say, “but think what you want,” as if what you have said should persuade any one with thoughts into agreeing with you, and if not, they are (as you said in an earlier post), “stupid.” You might as well just come out with it: You think people’s opinions are okay as long as they agree with you, but if they disagree they just shouldn’t say anything because they are wrong.
    CRAZY.

  76. mary says:

I am so sick of seeing them on that f-g boat. J-Depp looks bloated.

  77. original kate says:

i would like to see angie in a comedy. she always seems to play either a black widow vixen or a spy.

  78. LOVE ANGELINA says:

@Wonderful where do you see the word respect in any thing I have written? LOL I don’t see it anywhere. I said I will be fair, I will accept what you have to say and I will no longer be combative about it but that doesn’t mean I respect what was said because often times I don’t even agree with it. Just gonna agree to disagree.

Uhh I can’t imagine what person on this planet who doesn’t want people to agree with them, I am not gonna lie I wish more people did agree with me, but they don’t.

I get a little overzealous sometimes. I am sorry. However I wanna be diplomatic and accepting of others opinions. Even if I feel like their just being mean sometimes.

  79. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Love Angelina: After watching the clip again, these are the reasons why it looks crappy to me already-

    1. Bad accents. Unless they are playing around for whatever reason the plot outlines, neither of them have a good track record of believable accents so crappy accents.

    2. Bad dialogue. “You’re ravenous.” “Do you mean ravishing?” (bad accent) “I do.”

    3. Bad acting (on Johnny’s part, they barely showed anything of Angelina talking-bad sign, in my opinion). In the third little clip he does a comedy jump in the air and says, “Oh I gotta go!” like he’s in a cartoon instead of running away from someone who is shooting up his door.

And having a read a synopsis, it sounds even more stupid.

  80. nnn says:

    @77

I think you may try : “Pushing Tin”.

Never saw it personnally but fans of Angelina always come up with this one saying she was really good in it.

  81. Majosha says:

Actually, I heard “Pushing Tin” was a terrible movie. But to be fair, I haven’t heard anything specific about Angie’s performance — the few people I’ve asked over the years just dismissed it as a steaming pile and didn’t bother with the particulars — so maybe her performance was fine.

I, personally, don’t think she’s a terrible actress. Maybe a few notches above average. But I can’t for the life of me understand why they keep offering her roles that require accents, because she’s embarrassingly bad in that respect.

  82. Cheyenne says:

Is she one of the best actresses of her generation? I’d say no. But she’s a very good one. And she looks drop-dead gorgeous in that trailer.

I don’t see nearly as much chemistry between her and Depp as there was between her and Brad Pitt in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But the chemistry between them in that movie was scarifying.

  83. LOVE ANGELINA says:

LOL ok Hamm. Ok. I don’t look forward to hearing your thoughts when the ACTUAL trailer is released. LOL Thanks for letting me know.

Pushing Tin was very good but if you rent it to see Angie, Angie isn’t really in it. Angie is adorable in it but her character does something that we debate on all the time and its just gonna get you guys rallied up. Angie is barely in its mostly John Cuskack and BBT, Cate Blanchett.

  84. DD says:

I think I have watched 90% of the films Angelina has been in. She has amazing screen presence and I think that is why I still love seeing her, even though I do think she is average in her acting abilities with two strike-out performances in Girl Interrupted and Gia. I think she has the potential to do great work, but I find she over-acts a lot in the recent dramas she’s been in, or she just falls flat. Average acting skills aside, I still want to see her on the big screen.

  85. Camille says:

Um, the ‘Camille’ that posted up thread is not me, who has been posting here for a long time.

    @Kaiser- I agree with you.

  86. nnn says:

Quite frankly i never got what people say about her accents. I can’t talk about other accents but in the Mighty Heart, i think her french accent was on point, tone wise, accent wise, and everything.

It was like french poeple speak english and i mean really french people, not like other natives francophones like Belgians or Swiss OR Luxemburgers speak english but really like french people tend to speak it, in the tone, in the harshness of certain consonnants like the R, ect.

As a native french speaker i never got that so called terrible accent she supposedly used in that movie and i never heard anyone in my entourage say anything about it either.

I cannot legitimatly talk about the rest but in this one, she was right to the point.

On another note, there are very few people who can manage to erase complete accent when it’s not in the same language (e.g. english and english-american, portuguese and portugues-brasilian).

Diane Krugger for example sound totally different in french movies, it’s like her voice in english is more high and it is toned and softer in french with a really slight sexy accent. she really sounds sexier in french, like even her voice is totally different.

Jodie Foster speaks great french so did Yul Bryner but jodie has a slight anglo-saxon accent. It’s very light but you can definitely feel it though the tone, the tonic accent is perfectly placed, though she had a francophone education. Ah yeah, Lourdes Leone speak french like a native parisian, i mean totally.

In Inglorious Bastered most of the cast were at least three linguual but even when masterizing french and english you could hear the accent.

To totally erase it, you really need to learn it from childhood and to practice each one of them equally, to listen to shows in those languages cause you tedn to lose it very quickly, even for natives.

  87. Crash2GO2 says:

I don’t understand the accent criticism either. I thought she did a great Bronx accent in Bone Collector, although I have not heard any of her others. And Johnny Depp – it’s hard to imagine he can’t master an accent.

BTW, I have a very good ear for accents. I’m American, but can tell what region in England someone is from by listening to their accent. My room mate on the other hand, just introduced me to a friend from Liverpool, however she described his accent before hand as sounding just like a co-worker who is German. This new fellow was classic Liverpuddlian (albeit on the posh side). I honestly don’t know how many people actually do have an ear for accents.

  88. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Crash: Tomb Raider-awful awful accent, and she got two tries at it too. Beowulf-the worst. Alexander-holy cow.

Now granted I’ve only heard snippets of each from various places. I’ve never sat down and watched Beowulf or Alexander full through-I like the Tomb Raider movies though, regardless of her and her ridiculous accent. I wouldn’t harm my eyeballs, ears and general sensitivity to crappy acting, directing and script writing and suffer through Beowulf or Alexander.

But everyone knows that she can’t do accents. That was the one thing, beside them having to beef up her boobs, that people talked about with the Tomb Raider films was how poor her English accent was.

  89. Camille says:

Ah well, you can’t say she never takes risks (acting wise), even if she does fall flat on her face trying.
At least she isn’t playing the same character over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. One true thing that you can say about AJ is that she is NOT boring. 😆

  90. Lita says:

My friends Oxymoron, Contradiction in Terms – meet LOVE ANGELINA.

Forget this tripe; how funny would my special meet-and-greet movie be, eh?? So very much to talk about!!

  91. Holly says:

Gonna have to agree with a lot of people on here and say that Angelina is terribly overrated as an actress. The one film she seemed good in, to me, was A Mighty Heart. And apparently, the Academy didn’t agree with me there. Her screaming was utterly asinine in Changeling. I was so embarrassed for her that I had to keep turning away.

  92. Holly says:

That top photo always gives me the creeps. She looks like a transvestite possessed.

  93. Crash2GO2 says:

I’ll take your word for it Hamm, since I’ve never watched those movies.

I’ve sometimes wondered about English accent criticism though – who is doing the criticising? Are they English? From where in England? Because the accent varies wildly from region to region. There really is no generic ‘English’ accent, just as there is no generic ‘American’ accent. It seems to me you would get a coach, who might have been raised in, say, Manchester, so they would have that underlying accent that would never go away no matter how polished they tried to get. So then the actor gets coached, and their accent ends up sounding ‘off’ to someone raised in upper crust London.

    Just musings.

  94. mina says:

Johnny is not using any accent this time. It’s his voice and his talking, you know what I mean?Btw,the full trailer is released. It’s on yahoo.
