I get that not everyone loves Natalie Portman in general. She alienated a lot of people with both her defense of Roman Polanski, and her equating eating meat to rape. That makes her quite underwhelming as a person – however, if we’re just going on fashion and who brings it on the red carpet, Natalie is almost always my girl. This is what she wore for last night’s Black Swan premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. She’s just so… f-cking beautiful. It actually hurts me a little. Natalie is earning rave reviews from the festival circuit too – many think she might get an Oscar nomination (her second) for Black Swan. We’ll see – it might be too avant-garde for Academy voters, but Hollywood people seem to love her.
So I thought we’d do more photos from TIFF, just because there are so many. Here is my lover Vincent Cassel, also at last night’s Black Swan premiere. He looks delicious.

@ cath — um, yeah, eating meat IS rape. The word “rape” means “to seize, carry off by force, abduct. Eating meat is the “seizing” of prey – which used to mean the hunting of wild prey, but now (more often than not) means the seizure of an animal that’s only known life in a factory farm. So there’s that added element of cruelty.
As long as no one suggests that the rape of a woman is “not rape” – because of course it is, and of course it’s absolutely horrible – then I don’t see what’s wrong with calling eating meat “rape.” It is, and Natalie Portman is correct. It’s not her idea, though – plenty of vegans and champions of animal rights have said the same.
I get the impression that people are just bitching about Portman’s statement, not because they are defending women who’ve been raped, but because they eat meat and they’d rather not feel guilty about it.
Am I the only one who thinks Natalie Portman resembles Jude Law? They both have perfect little heart shaped faces. I was a little freaked out watching them make out in “Closer.” It was as if they were kissing their doppleganger. Also, Kaiser you are turning me into a Vincent Cassel lover. Il est si beau! I’ve seen him in several films and I never really found him attractive until you started posting all these pictures of him, et maintenant Je l’aime beaucoup.
I don’t believe that people dislike Portman because we’re trying to make ourselves not feel bad about eating meat (mmm… delicious, btw) but because no one like a pretentious snob looking down on others decisions as if their choices makes them better than others.

Also, I am a near vegan/vegetarian, but I can honestly say that it doesn’t promote the message, or help PETA’s cause to make such an inappropriate comparison as meat = rape. Even if someone can logically back the argument up- its unnecessarily inflammatory, pissing off the people she should be trying to persuade. Let’s hope in the future she say’s Meat = Murder- you know because everyone loves The Smiths.

I love Natalie Portman, she is beautiful in a subtle and simple way is how I’d describe it. And I really enjoy her acting. Can’t wait to see this movie either. Mila Kunis is also gorgeous too bad she hasn’t been out promoting at these events. The movie Elizabeth ruined Vincent Cassel for me, he just freaks me out but in a talented way… oh i almost forgot, eastern promises also helped cement his freak image for me, but I totally buy him in this role.

Had a nice chat in an elevator this weekend with James Franco! I love that in Canada they can walk around without an entourage! They were doing a press conference in the same hotel I was attending a seminar in. Never thought I’d be starstruck, but I stammered like a little girl when he got into the elevator! lol He was very gracious and patient! Nice guy!
