Teresa Guidice shows off her “amazing” daughters on the ITW cover

itw1

CB and I were slightly “stunned” to see this week’s cover of In Touch. It features RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice and her children and… um. Yes, CB and I have decided it would be best not to discuss our thoughts on the cover in general, because even though we’re bitches, we’re not the horrible monsters people would like to think. I mean… yes, Teresa is putting her children out there, in the public sphere, by putting them on the cover and thus, inviting us to comment. But I won’t take the bait! And just keep in mind, commenters, just keep your thoughts relatively nice-ish. I don’t want fifty comments criticizing these children, even if they are in the public sphere. Instead, I just choose to feel sorry for these kids. I mean, to have those parents… and to be on the cover of ITW? GOD. Poor kids. Anyway, the story:

For Teresa Giudice, the past few months have been the roughest of roller-coaster rides. Now a household name, thanks to her star-making turn on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa saw it all marred by the shock of learning that she and her husband, Joe, were $11 million in debt — and needed to file for bankruptcy.

And as if her financial turmoil wasn’t enough, the 37-year-old mom has, in recent weeks, been subject to a slew of insults and unsavory rumors — including talk that Joe has fathered a love child with her sister-in-law and an embarrassing article in Steppin’ Out magazine, in which fellow Housewife — and arch-enemy — Danielle Staub compared her physically to “Cornelius from Planet of the Apes.”

Teresa admits that, emotionally, this has been the most difficult period of her life.

“First the bankruptcy thing and then all the rumors,” she tells In Touch in an exclusive interview. “It’s like people have nothing better to do — it’s pretty sad.”

But as upset as she’s been by it all, Teresa remains strong. And she credits her four children with keeping her that way.

“I mean look at them, they’re just amazing,” she says of her daughters, Gia, 9, Gabriella, 6, Milania, 5, and Audriana, 1. “They’re just so beautiful, and they make me happy. I live for being a mom.”

[From In Touch Weekly]

Question: is Teresa a good mother? I’ve only watched a few episodes of RHONJ, and she struck me as not the best mother overall, but not the worst either. Just sort of dumb, but she was trying to be involved, right? Are the kids happy? They look happy. Kind of. It’s hard to tell. Okay, I’m stopping.

I have watched from season 1 and Teresa is a very good mother, she does everything herself for the girls. They don’t have nanny, Teresa makes them breakfast, she was about to give birth to her 4th baby and she still made breakfast for one her daughters before leaving for the hospital. I think the worst thing she has done as a mom is spoil them rotten. LOL they are so spoiled but Gia is very smart and out going, she is the little actress and the oldest one. I think they are gonna be a little tough to handle when they hit the teen years but Teresa is a good mom from what I see.

Actually I do think her kids are really cute: they have beautiful skin tone, bright blue eyes, and very flattering full lips. They can’t help who their mother is or that she dresses them like JonBennet and pimps them out for magazines and television viewers.

That family is $11 million in debt. How are they going to live? How are they going to retire and how are those kids going to go to college? How can you have four kids and not think of their future? She has only short term thinking. Also, she does not discipline her children and they don’t know how to act. They blew 11 million dollars on stuff like headbands. They could’ve sent all four of them to college on that money. STUPID! And she tries to act like she doesn’t know that they were broke. Seriously, what is her IQ?

The kids are cute, and I think she is an ok mother. But the kids are total overindulged brats. The episodes were they went to Italy was proof. I think Theresa is perfectly acceptable looking. She is ‘cute’ like a hamster is cute rather than ‘pretty’ like a barbie doll. I like that she has left her hairline as is, when clearly she could choose to change it – didn’t JA raise hers? When you have daughters, you need to think about things like that. What features you share with them, and the message it sends them when you change those features in yourself.

Oh for Pete’s sake! I….::cringe:: uhh, nevermind.

And you guys, c’mon…for the last time: you cannot tell if she is a good mother based on that television show. Did she not openly admit that the only reason she spent $60k CASH on furniture was for the cameras? She says she doesn’t ever do that, but she thought it would be fun to film. So the “making breakfast for the daughters while going into labor”….c’mon… what do you think? She knew how it would make her look so she went for it.

This show is not only a very skewed, partial, and packaged view of their life — it’s often fake, exaggerated and planned ahead of time. You can make better assumptions about what kind of mother she is based on the things she teaches them (ie what does she value or believe to be priorities for her kids to know), and how they behave.

They are ALL (Theresa and her husband included) materialistic, bratty, vain, completely unconcerned for others outside of themselves, conceited, and opportunistic. How balanced does that seem? Do you notice the only adjective/personality trait she assigns for them is “beautiful”? This is what I’m saying.
