Mariah Carey plans $4 million wedding with 2000 guests

It’s been rumored for weeks that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon might have a second wedding ceremony, and apparently the preparations really are being made. Never accuse Mariah Carey of under-doing anything. Or being classy. The woman is many things, but understated is not one of them.

After she and Nick Cannon had a quickie wedding in the Bahamas, they rented out a Six Flags theme park for 100 of their closest friends to celebrate. But apparently that wasn’t enough for the locals – the two are working hard on what sounds like a really upscale wedding ceremony to be held in New York City.

Plans for Mariah Carey’s second wedding to husband Nick Cannon are well underway, and this time around, Carey plans to make her nuptials an over-the-top event, according to a source close to the singer. “It’s going to be held in New York City in the next six weeks. Picture a wedding on the scale of Liza Minnelli’s (to David Gest) and you’ll be on the right track,” said the source.

Carey last week told Ellen DeGeneres that the wedding would be next year, and the guests at her Bahamian ceremony were “mainly people there to do my hair and help me with the dress,” which certainly won’t be the case for part deux.

“She wants over 2,000 guests and the budget will be well over $4 million and she’ll have at least 14 bridesmaids,” the source revealed. One name already said to be confirmed on the guest list: Naomi Campbell. We can’t wait.

Let’s talk fundamentals here. If you compare anything to something related to Liza Minnelli or David Gest, it’s going to be incredibly tacky. If you compare it to something related to Liza Minnelli and David Gest it’s going to be beyond horrendous. I can’t wait to see this ceremony. It sounds like it’ll rival Star Jones’ wedding – and we all know just how well that turned out.

2000 guests just screams “We’re inviting Entertainment Tonight to our wedding!” I bet that amount of love you have for each other is in direct proportion to the amount of guests at your wedding. Because we all know the bigger and more lavish the affair, the greater and more enduring the romance, right?

What a waste of money! ❗

  2. AC says:

yeah seriously. thats not for love thats for prestige.

  3. Syko says:

Good grief. They are already married, and in a celebration which the likes of most of the world cannot afford. Now she wants more? She is NOT the virgin princess bride – she’s a woman who’s been married before and such displays are vulgar.

Oh. For a minute I forgot who I was talking about.

Why is he kissing her teeth?

And here I thought Mimi was showing a bit of class for getting hitched on the sly…

2000 guests? Holy crap, the receiving line alone would take half a day. Aside from the jaw dropping price tag, I just don’t see how a wedding that big ‘n’ splashy would be any FUN. Then again, I’m no Mariah Carey. 😉

I will never forget a magazine story I read when she married Tommy Mottola – she made reference to the fact that her wedding was going to be even bigger than Princess Diana’s. That arrogance has always rubbed me the wrong way; she’s NOT royalty!

    Sponsored by Fredricks of Hollywood.
I never thought I would say such a thing, but it makes Star Jones 30 month marriage look classy! This has to be the sixth sign of the apocalypse.

  7. kate says:

i wonder if part of their marriage contract was that he always be on her left so she can show her “good” right side to the camera?

  8. Kelly says:

I think its great! If I had that much money at my disposal…heck why not? Not saying it will last but nonetheless, it’ll be an event to remember.

  9. Cindy Kennedy says:

Maria also went overboard on her first wedding to Tommy Mottola, after claiming that she “wasn’t really into the wedding thing” – yeah right.

Any woman who wants a wedding like that has a pathetically low self esteem.

  10. Rianna says:

she had better ride in on a unicorn and have a dress made out of the wings of butterflies this time… and a fairy tale castle wedding cake with the serving staff in fairy costumes… i cant wait for the photos. it will be like a 5 year old’s fantasy come to life!!

I actually Laughed Out Loud when i read the post title. Just the sheer ridiculousness of it all. and how predictable it is! C’mon people, laugh along. If we didn’t have these celebs we would have to focus on our own problems and I couldn’t have read this post’s title at a better moment (homework, apartment hunting ect.) and I just laughed coke zero out my nose. oh man…..what a fucking retard she is.

  12. Carrie says:

I think it makes perfect sense that MiMi needs a wedding that big. It’s going to take at least 50 people to get her into her dress, another 100 to manage the shoe choices, 20 make-up artists and the same again for hair, at least 200 on security and then there are the butterfly tamers/wranglers to factor in……….you can see how quickly the numbers would add up to 2,000……..

  13. jess says:

I have always thought she was kind of tacky… 😐

  14. alex says:

Humm…who of the two is paying the $4 million???
Is is all equal, like all things in mariage are supposed to be?

And also: Do men like those big weddings? Or are they embarressed?

I guess slouching on Mimi’s money kind of bribes Nick to keep his mouth shut and go with the flow of Sugar Fairy Princess’s wedding ideas. Just can’t imagine him asking her to plan Kitch event 2008. No way. 😐

  15. Cindy Kennedy says:

She probably has delusions that she is royalty. People who have weddings like this are totally delusional.

  16. Leah says:

Nick Cannon seems like such a sweet guy, too.
