Raccoon McPantless won’t engage with Tim Gunn’s “pathetic brat” criticisms

A few weeks ago, Tim Gunn began his epic publicity tour to promote his book, I Can’t Even With These Bitches (I wish). Throughout the tour, Tim spent A LOT of time dishing and bitching and calling out bitches left and right – mostly, he called out fashion people, but he also had some words for a few celebrities. One of those celebrities was Taylor Momsen. Tim not only had some thoughts about our beloved Raccoon McPantless’s style, but he had also met her and worked with her while doing a cameo on Gossip Girl. His thoughts on McPantless were not lovely – he called her “pathetic” for not being professional on set, and claimed that Our Raccoon was a “diva” and a “brat”. When asked about Tim Gunn’s comments, Taylor shockingly didn’t light a cigarette and call Tim Gunn named. She was almost… mature about it:

Taylor Momsen is doing her own thing and she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her career path, personality or goth look. The face of Madonna’s Material Girl line and Gossip Girl starlet has responded to one opponent in particular, beloved Project Runway fashion guru Tim Gunn, who called the starlet a “pathetic brat.”

“I don’t respond to that,” Taylor told reporters on the carpet at Madonna and her daughter Lourdes‘ launch of the new Material Girl fashion line at Macy’s Herald Square in NYC Wednesday night.

Taylor’s camp also supported her strong will, with someone yelling, “We don’t respond to name calling.”

As for her other haters, the 17-year-old said you can either love her or leave her.

“It’s about owning it no matter what anyone says,” Taylor said. “This is who I am and this is who I am going to be. It’s about every girl being true to themselves.”

Hm… whose side to be on? Well, I mean, I’m still Team Gunn forever and always, and I do think his criticism of Momsen was probably right on target – after all, this was behavior that he witnessed first-hand. But I will give Taylor some credit for not engaging and not turning this into some kind of epic grudge match. That shows surprising maturity. Well played, Raccoon McPantless.

Maybe today should also be Horrible Eye Makeup Friday?
    Less is more, ladies!

  2. Obvious says:

I can’t wait for her to look back on these pictures in like 10 years. it will be epic.

  3. lem says:

i love tim but i was kinda pissed that he was going after a 16 year old. that shows a huge lack of maturity on his part. i don’t have any real opinions on taylor but i think this whole “i’m so mature” act is what ALL 16 year olds do and people need to back of her a little bit. i doubt any of us were sparkling examples of maturity at 16.

  4. liz says:

I can’t imagine her bedding or pillows would still be white…..

  5. Jean says:

What I don’t understand is, how you feel Taylor Swift needs to be protected and cut some slack because she’s “just a kid” yet you have no reservations whatsoever about picking on this girl.
Sure, she’s a brat and she’s obnoxious but as opposed to Taylor Swift, Taylor Momsen has a pretty solid voice.
Her music might be your typical “angsty” teen stuff, but once she grows out of it and comes of age, I’m sure she’ll contribute more to the music world than her namesake.

  6. Maddie says:

Mr. Incredible secret daughter spouts off on Tim Gunn’s bratty comment.

I’m not a brat decries Taylor, who can stunt double for younger brother Dash !

  7. Iggles says:

I can’t believe her parents let her walk out of the house like that!

She looks like a clown. Seriously, the joker had better make up going on. She looks ridiculous.

As for Gunn, his criticism is spot on no doubt. But I do have a bit of grudging respect for Raccoon eyes for owning her behavior.

“It’s about owning it no matter what anyone says,” Taylor said. “This is who I am and this is who I am going to be. It’s about every girl being true to themselves.”

I wish more young girls would do this. Actually, anyone of any age SHOULD own their behavior without excuses.

  8. Ruby Red Lips says:

    Those pics are so funny!!

  9. Katija says:

    @ Jean

I have “Miss Nothing” on my iPod, and I will guiltily admit to playing it on repeat when I’m working out. Her voice is solid.

I’ve said it before, but I think we would all like her more if she was JUST a musician. But because she did Gossip Girl, it’s like, oh, you’re hardcore now?

  10. belle Epoch says:

@Obvious – that’s exactly what I was thinking! In another 10 years she’ll see how regrettable this look really is.

  11. koala says:

i was thinking the same thing — 10 years from now she’ll be mortified. heck, maybe even 5. does she not realize how ridiculously ugly it makes her look? apparently not.

maybe she has different mirrors than the rest of us? magic mirrors?

  12. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

wow.. she looks wasted in some of those photos…

  13. Leticia says:

The way that this girl is going about her rebellion is so passe. These days if you want to be a counter-cultural rebel, then be well-groomed, don’t get tattoos, or sleep around.

  14. koala says:

she is “pretty reckless” though… so hardcore! so shocking!

right. but at least she thinks so, and it’s all about girls just being themselves!

    *puke*

  15. MarenGermany says:

    she is so ridiculous.
if she´d go with a smile and a bunch of teddy bears around her, and than use her voice…well that would be impressive and cool.
like that, shes nothing more then a bad joke. a really bad one!

  16. original kate says:

back in the day i was a gothy girl before it was cool. my small posse of gothlingss and i shopped at goodwill, raided our grandmothers’ attics, used rice powder on our faces, etc. i even made my own parchment paper and used a quill pen to write all my morbid poetry. we got taunted relentlessly at school, of course. a few years later the goth look became trendy for about 6 months, and all these cbheerleader type girls showed up at school with “goth” outfits they bought off the rack at places like hot topic.

raccoon mcpantless reminds me of those girls. we had a name for them: poseurs.

  17. Jover says:

Exactly Leticia, she’s actually a conformist; and how much of her behavior is artifice and contrivance to sell a look, as opposed to something genuine. I’d like to hear her real voice without enhancements since all I’ve seen are these auto-tuned crummy vids. Really, her band exists in some faux video world, where most of the pub is about her and not her “music.” Has she actually done, say, a 20 city concert tour giving 2 hour live performances before say 10-20,000 people. If not, she and her band are just an artificial and useless largely media creation; but we keep posting on her and talking about her and that’s her oxygen. BTW, tim gunn was responding to questions asked about her behaviour on the set of the GG.

  18. Manda3 says:

I hate this spoiled stupid looking brat.

  19. Mara says:

Good for her. I like Tim Gunn for the most part but she’s a kid. He needs to slap at people his own age. I agree she’s going to look back at these pics in ten years and be appalled- just like most everyone else does when they actually grow up and realize how stupid they looked as a teen. Part of being seventeen is doing stupid crap and thinking you’re more badass than you are. I don’t get the hate for this girl while others older than her get a pass for being ‘just a kid’. She’s just a stupid kid IMO who needs better (or any) parenting.

  20. TQB says:

I must confess – i listened to “Make Me Wanna Die” the other day and didn’t hate it. Like at all. Her voice is good and I dug the throwback hair-metal back up dude.

The video, of course, is horrendous. Fire and underwear? Been there, been Whitesnake.

  21. crab says:

She must go through a case of black eye pencil a week!!

  22. rudy5 says:

now we know why she doesn’t like to smile

  23. Kate says:

Truly bad-ass people never have to talk about how bad-ass they are. You just know it when you see it.

  24. Ally says:

    What a little SNOT.

  25. John W Sharp says:

Sometimes Taylor seems a little out of it. At first I thought she was kind of gross. Then I started to make fun of her eyes. Next thing I knew I was drawn in. Then I found out she was 16. This child is depressed; and I’m a fan – But Sweetheart you have got to focus those eyes.

  26. KC says:

She’s such a pretty girl but why did she become this…mess…As funny and trashy as her stories are, I’d rather she had turned out like Dakota Fanning…

I miss Candy Lou from the Grinch…

  27. Petty Queen says:

    She looks dead.

  28. Andrea-2 says:

My goodness-I LOVE all of these posts. No matter whose side you are taking, all of your arguments and discussions are spot-on.

  29. California Surfer says:

I read this article yesterday and had a nightmare last night because this chick does look way majorly scary!

  30. Wicked SteppMom says:

I just showed Hubs these pics of her b/c we’re dressing our son as a skeleton for Halloween & I’ve been trying to describe how I want to put black cream eyeshadow around his eyes, but he couldn’t picture exactly what I meant. Thanks Taylor, you’ve perfectly illustrated the skull eye-socket look.

  31. kimberly says:

SHE IS NOT GOTH AT ALL!

SHE’S MORE GLAM GRUNDGE THEN GOTH!

SERIOUSLY DOES SHE REALLY THINK SHE’S GOTH?????

    NO BITCH YOU AIN’T!
