Celebrities, including Alexander Skarsgard, at Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is happening now and while I’ve lived in Germany for a couple of years I have to admit I’ve never been to Munich for the event. Just about every festival here year round involves lots of excellent strong beer served in giant glasses, great bratwurst and tasty pretzels so I’ve never felt the need to go to Munich, especially since it’s really crowded and busy this time of year. It seems fun, though, especially if you’re not used to German culture.

Celebrities have been flocking to the annual event, with Hayden Panettiere donning a tiny drindl to accompany her boyfriend, boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko (damn her, I thought they were broken up already) last week.

Also in attendance was True Blood star Alexander Skarsgaard, who promoted his show over the weekend with some Oktoberfest hotties and Lebkuchenherzen (gingerbread hearts). Judging from his gorgeous red face, he enjoyed some of the beer.

Katy Perry was on popular German variety show Wetten, Das?, which aired from Munich over the weekend. She wore a drindl at the host’s insistence along with downing a big glass of beer. I watched some of her appearance on the show (it’s long and I’ll admit I turned it off before it was over) and while she didn’t say much of interest she was a lot of fun and seemed to have a good time. That’s what Oktoberfest is all about. That and getting really wasted. It only takes two of those beers to knock me on my ass, and I’m used to drinking it.

Now stare into Alexander Skarsgard’s eyes for a moment.

ASkars at Oktoberfest was probably a shitfest. Dude has never seen a beer he didn’t like.

Which is why I love him.

Also, every time I see Hayden P. and that giant dude I imagine them having sex and THEN WANT TO TEAR OUT MY EYEBALLS.

  2. kelbear says:

@Julie, totally agree about Hayden! I can’t stand her!

  3. Anne says:

Hayden looks like she’s sitting on her father’s lap. So gross.

  4. Rachael says:

    He’s my #1 DILF.

  5. Jean says:

How very sad that the only times celebrities can be interested in some sort and degree of “culture”, it has to involve liquor, dressing up and photo-ops.

  6. Nanea says:

CB, I respectfully disagree about Oktoberfest being German culture.

    It’s Bavarian culture.

Germany has to offer so much more than two weeks of excessive beer guzzling.

  7. Beth says:

Alex is looking good!!! (I think it has a lot to do with getting rid of the waste of space he was dating.)

  8. Melinda says:

@ Nanea- You are correct. Oktoberfest is definitely a celebration of Bavarian culture more than German as a whole. I have been twice. This year we were sitting next to a very nice Bavarian lady and she taught us all sorts of things about Bavaria and it’s history (there is a historical part this year celebrating the 200th anniversary which was pretty cool). It was really fun. The beer and food was awesome too!

  9. original kate says:

hayden’s face looks like a frying pan.

  10. craigc says:

DOUCHEGAAARD!! GET THAT SMUG LOOK OFF YOUR FACE

  11. JM says:

Alex, you’re looking yummier than that cookie cake.

  12. Taurus says:

Okay so I’m finally seeing the appeal with this Skarsgard guy.

    MJ FOR HGF!

  13. Lena says:

    Actually it’s DIRNDL, not drindl.

And you’re right, it’s not German culture, but Bavarian and even there they don’t walk around in a dirndl or leather trousers the whole year.

  14. Gwen says:

God, he looks hot here 😀

  15. jennipurrr says:

Thank you, Lena! That was driving me nuts!!!

I don’t even know how they can call them dirndl when they are so skankified. I wore an authentic dirndl for my friend’s wedding (as the M.C.) and it was far more modest and much longer than what you see on girls nowadays.

  16. Arianna says:

    I LOVE YOU ASKARS

    and i hate you hayden

  17. Camille says:

Oh the hotness of Alex/Eric. Yummeh.

  18. goddess says:

Akars and beer equals fun! He couldn’t possibly look anything but HOT even if he has been overindulging. Oh, to be the floor that he might drop down upon… sigh.

  19. Susie says:

This Hayden munchkin is so cute next to her big boxer man. What an adorable couple. Her look has matured this year. I would imagine no man could ever live up to the one she has. Brawn and brains. She scored.

  20. Hanna says:

Bavaria is a part of Germany consequentely the Oktoberfest is a german culture. and yeah no one’s wearing a dirndl the whole year since we all wanna be fashionable.
I really don’t like the Oktoberfest however, the beer is fantastic : D
