Jessica Alba has “never been comfortable” showing off her body, but the money helps

alba21

A few days ago, we got the preview of Jessica Alba’s photo shoot and interview for the November issue of GQ UK. These photos are from the actual shoot, as opposed to screen caps, like we had before. This photos are very, very sexy, and you can see that Jessica’s “Hotness Renaissance” is back and in full effect. Of course, Jessica doesn’t think so. In the excerpts so far, Jessica is fishing for compliments and telling us that she doesn’t see herself as beautiful or sexy. Right. That’s why she’s posing like this. Here are more excerpts from her interview:

Jessica Alba has revealed she would be up for appearing in Avatar 2. The actress would relish the thought of working with filmmaker James Cameron again, after he gave her her big break when he picked her to star in cult TV series Dark Angel.

“He knows where to find me – I’m always available to him,” she told GQ. “If we can work together and have a successful movie and make a lot of money, then great. But most importantly, he’s my friend.”

Jessica, who next stars in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, added: “Career-wise, the most impactful people for me have been James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez.”

The 29-year-old also admitted she felt nervous around Robert De Niro, who she co-stars with in the slasher thriller.

“It felt like I was dreaming. You work with De Niro and you suddenly feel totally different,” she said. “My heart was beating fast, I got tongue-tied, I was sweating and so nervous. But he was so sweet, and gentle, calm, quiet and kept to himself.”

She couldn’t resist asking him for advice: “I said to him, ‘Robert, please help me, I don’t want to f**k this up, please don’t let me suck’.”

Alba also told UK men’s magazine GQ that she is not confident about her looks and that she doesn’t understand why she is regarded as a sex symbol.

She said: “”My breasts are saggy, I’ve got cellulite, my hips are bigger, but I love it – there’s something so amazing about having a child. [I’m] way more comfortable, since I had a baby. I’m far less self-conscious now I have her to worry about. I just feel better about myself. I’m not so hard on myself. I don’t get it. Every actress out there is more beautiful than me. Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Beyoncé, you name it. All better looking than me. I’ve seen them without make-up, so I know.”

And despite being regularly featured on the cover of men’s magazines, Alba admitted that she doesn’t enjoy the experience.

She said: “I’ve never been comfortable showing my body off like that. I used to have anxiety attacks before I did the photo-shoots. I’d never worn high-heels or even dresses before I did movies… “I wasn’t even allowed to show my stomach in my house when I was growing up – my parents were very strict. But this is the business I’m in, and it’s made me a lot of money, so I can’t complain.”

[From The Press Association & Hollywood News]

So, there you go Hollywood. You have a young star who hates her body, has really low self-esteem, believes that her modesty can be sold for a couple of million, and will do “anything” to work with James Cameron. Sounds like a lot of girls, honestly.

she’s beautiful, and she’s got a great body…but the girl can’t act her way out of a bag. she’s seriously painful to watch.

  2. Riley says:

I know this is going to sound stupid, but several years ago she was on Punked. And the punk took place in a boutique of some sort. Anyway, as I remember it, she seemed like a real bitch. When she said “no” during the prank, she said it like, “new. new. new.” I know you can’t base somebody’s entire personality on an episode of Punked, but what the hay, ever since I saw her on that show, because I have never seen her in anything else, I think she is probably a bitch who is married to a real douche. Cash Warren just seems sleazy and gross and if that is the kind of man she is attracted too, I think it says a lot about her personality. Oh, and she looks like a dude in the last picture. Sorry, Jessica, you’ve caught me on a really bad day.

  3. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

Sigh. Whatever. Tired of all the hate my body crap when you look like that. Booooo Bad show.

  4. HotPockets says:

Some of the most beautiful women in the world are the most insecure about themselves. That seems to be fairly common. You’re always trying to live up to this standard of beauty and when you feel like you are no longer acceptable enough for it, you get comments like this.

    Good. Positive self image.

“I don’t get it.

Bad. Completely negates everything above and make me wonder why she bothered to open her mouth.

I agree with the poster who said she is an awful actress. She is stunning (Okay Jessica? You are. There I said it, now stfu about how unattractive you are) and that’s exactly why she got her start – not her acting chops, so she should be grateful for the opportunities given to her and stop with the self effacing crap. The fact that her whole self image seems to be wrapped in her looks shows me why she’s a bad actress. She has no depth.

  6. EllenP says:

If she would just close her mouth–who decided that the slack, pouty, half-opened mouth was sexy? Hate that, hate hair extensions, and hate men with stubble.

  7. Merry says:

You know, it’s true: she is not a great actress, not particularly bright or intelligent, not very gifted in the personality department…but MY GOD she’s STUNNING!

  8. dj says:

I loved her in Dark Angel. I thought she was going to be the next female action star ala Jolie. So disappointing.

  9. Squirtle says:

Why is she so greasy? I really don’t see the appeal for the greasy look..then again I’m not a man, but even on men that are all greasy and sweaty looking in photo shoots I am always grossed out!

  10. walker says:

Ok we get it! You’re ugly, and fat and blah, blah, blah!! This is what d-listers have to say. I can’t imagine Kate Winslet talking about her looks as much as this chick does. alba’s so boring and Cause Kate can actually ACT!!

  11. Delta Juliet says:

She’s beautiful and she has a great body. And don’t think for one minute she doesn’t know it.

  12. Delta Juliet says:

@Riley…I don’t think her face was supposed to be the focal point for that last picture 😉
But yeah, that is a bad shot of her.

  13. Roxanne75 says:

@hotpockets you are right…I’ve heard this so many times by very beautiful women…why do women have to hate on themselves so much! Jessica is so pretty–I wish I could have half of what she has!

  14. Courtney says:

if she’s uncomfortable with showing off her body maybe she shouldn’t have been an actress. that is one of the things that comes with the job. she could learn alot about grace and tact from someone like Joanne Woodward who always cared more about the work than her looks and infact didn’t appear on screen naked until Rachel Rachel in 1968 and that was after she’d been pregnant 4 times in the preceeding decade miscarrying once and giving birth to three daughters. granted the nude scenes were under a cotton bedsheet or particially nude making out at the lake or having the uterine tumour removed that the character inicially mistakes for a pregnancy. which had to remind the star of the surgery that removed the remains of her deceased unborn child 9 1/2 years before the film was made and of course the film also marked her husbands directorial debut which was critically aclaimed at the time.

  15. rudy5 says:

OMG! is there a way we call ALL write to james cameron and beg him not to cast her?!? yes she’s pretty but her acting will ruin avatar 2

  16. marge says:

    @rudy5

    http://www.petitiononline.com/

    ahhahahahahahhahaahha

  17. Deniz says:

Maybe her body did change for the worse after she had the baby. But I’m sure it’s not as drastic as she thinks it is. To her, she probably doesn’t look as good as she used to. Everyone has different standards when it comes to their body.

  18. funnygirl says:

yeesh stop with the fake modesty! i know she can’t say “im hot” straight hot but she knows she is lol, quit pretending/fishing for compliments. if she wasnt hot, she wouldnt even have an acting career…..

  19. l says:

    um Courtney…What???

Am I missing something? It seems very WEIRD that you keep commenting like this. It was you that brought up the whole Joann Woodword thing the other day too, right? That is just TOOOO random to have been brought up by more than one person. odd-I’m going to go ponder this some more and try to see if I can make the connection.

  20. Angel says:

@Riley: Whoa! I saw that same episode and I was all set to type out how it has shaped my opinion of her ever since XD. I believe how a person acts when they think no one is looking is extremely telling of their true character, and she acted like an uptight, holier-than-thou b-tch, honest to god. I completely can not stand her since seeing that. Like, that is HER, and ugh; just insufferably catty, crass, and stuck up as all hell was my impression, and I am a pretty forgiving person. (Not that I had any opinion of her before then. But that was all I needed to know.)

I have also never found her particularly beautiful. A pretty girl to be sure, but like many, entirely overrated.

  21. lu says:

She is one of the girls who talks about being fat or ugly so that the other people around them say that she is pretty and skinny. I saw this in Mean Girls.

  22. rudy5 says:

“I really wanna lose three pounds”… “what?? omg.. you’re so skinny”… “shut up”… lol

  23. gigi* says:

    PAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. malachais says:

I remember when I was a size 0 and obsessed about my weight, yet I looked fine but didn’t realize it. Maybe that crater face Cash doesn’t make her feel special or makes rude comments about her body. I remember being a size 0 and having a boyfriend that told me I had I need a lose “a little more” weight. It could possibly be due to this that she is down on herself.

I still hate her and feel that she’s a sh*tty actress, but I can slightly relate, if this is the case for Miseralba. Genetics play a huge role in her looking as good as she does after having children.

  25. Crash2GO2 says:

Courtney DID post that exact thing a couple of days ago. WTF??

  26. Keyanna says:

    @Angel –
Who do you consider beautiful if you don’t find her to be all that???
    Just curious…

  27. Jaxx says:

“I wasn’t even allowed to show my stomach in my house when I was growing up –

That quote right there says a lot. If she grew up in a house that stressed hiding the body it would have marked her. I was raised like that too. I can’t even undress in front of my own sex much less feel comfortable undressing in front of the opposite sex. I also never felt confident about my figure even when I could see from pictures that it was attractive. Being raised in a restrictive household with body issues messes you up.

  28. Erin says:

I too saw the Punk’d episode…she was freaking rude! Doesn’t seem like a very nice girl.

  29. Isa says:

This is why I never say anything about my insecurities. People always assuming I’m fishing for compliments and I’m not. Of course I don’t look like Jessica but sometimes it helps to just keep your mouth shut.
I think women would like her more if she said something about how lucky she was to have a trainer and not have to work all year round…etc.

  30. lucy2 says:

lu, I totally agree. It’s a way of fishing for compliments and praise, and I think in her case, that’s what she does – her whole career has been built on her looks and nothing else. I think she’s very pretty, but that’s about it, she’s an awful actress.

  31. Sara says:

I remember when EVERY interview she did used to be about how modest she was and how she wouldn’t wear mini skirts and blah blah blah. It was ironic because at the same time there were tons of pictures floating around of her in bikinis! I think it’s boring and sad that she denies the only reason she got famous. Before she played a stripper in Sin City hardly anyone knew who she was. At least bad actresses like Megan Fox own why they’re famous.

Also does seem like a bitch. Remember when she hosted the MTV movie awards? She thanked all the “perverts” for thinking she was hot.

  32. Courtney says:

no it’s not I gave that as an example she happens to be my favorite actress and Rachel,Rachel happens to be a great movie. an oppinion is like an ass hole everybody’s got one. let’s just agree to disagree.

  33. TG says:

I think she is beautiful but those pictures don’t make her look good or sexy. Of course I am not a man so maybe they see her differently. I can’t stand her, but I won’t begrudge her her beauty. Too bad she doesn’t have a brain to go with it.

  34. Jag says:

She says she “can’t complain,” so why does she every time someone asks her a question?

Girl is beautiful to look at but that’s about it. I won’t watch her movies unless there are other actors worth watching.

  35. minnie says:

i wish the interviewer would have agreed with her, “yeah, jess, all of those actresses are a lot prettier than you. come to think of it, why did we choose you for the cover in the first place? can you hold tight for a few minutes while i try to get scar jo on the phone?”

this “modesty” act is nothing more than a game to gain attention and compliments. if she really was as insecure with her looks as she says she is, she would most likely be too embarrassed to admit to it to the whole world via a magazine.

generally we go to great lengths to hide our deep insecurities.

  36. Jello says:

This is going to sound bitchy, but the girl doesn’t seem particularly bright. She hasn’t shown us any great acting chops, or charisma. The ONE thing she does have though, is her looks. If she truly feels this bad about herself, (and I do doubt it a bit) it’s a real shame not to appreciate her one and only talent, especially considering that beauty is fleeting.

  37. MyTwoCents says:

I have never seen her in anything but those tv ads I forget what she hawks, but in the category of no/little talent “celebrities” famous for nothing but looking good and not much else, she is the best looking. If you are in this category and insist on foisting yourself on the paying public at least be appealing to look at. She is also low key and we do not have to hear about sordid happenings in her private life. These photos do not look photo shopped although they might be touched up. She is beautiful and looks great in these pics. At least she doesn’t pretend to be something she is not. She’s just a young wife/mother earning a living and I find no fault in that.

  38. Boredom says:

    She’s without…..everything, personality, talent, ….

Her face is always so vacant, like there is nothing going on behind her eyes.

  39. DetRiotgirl says:

She’s so oily. I really don’t get that look. Beautiful girl, too much grease.

  40. xxx says:

what’s sexy about posing like that? oily, with open legs and such a stupid face? She’s overrated. Charlize Theron,Kate Winslate were able to make that girl look like an ugly fool without sexiness if they would pose like her but i bet that’s to trashy for them.
