I think you and the media should lay off both of them. They’re young, have excellent resources to care for their babies if they go out for an evening with their husbands. It likely makes them better mothers if they can go out a couple of times a week and have some fun with people their own age. It’s not the 1950’s where women were tied to the stove…don’t know why anyone would be so judgemental about this….trying to drum up something about nothing.

  2. Sol says:

I hope she’s not breastfeeding with all the alcohol she seems to be taking.Nice to see that her hubby also enjoys partying instead of being at home with the baby. Why do people have kids if they are going to leave them with a nanny? It’s sad.

  3. MomInNH says:

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to spend a couple hours away from the baby a night or two out of the week. I’m sure that her needing to blow off some steam isn’t going to result in some horrible life for your child. It’s a necessary thing to feel like you’re still YOU as opposed to just being a mother. Just because a woman enjoys spending time away from her child/ren doesn’t mean she doesn’t love them or take excellent care of them. People everywhere hire babysitters so they can enjoy a night out, why can’t a celeb?

  4. gg says:

Again with the black blush on the fakely orange face. Why oh why doesn’t her stylist get her off this stuff?

  5. Granger says:

It’s no secret that it’s healthy to maintain a life away from your kids. Whether you enjoy clubbing, going to movies, eating in restaurants, or training for a marathon, you NEED time to yourself. And a new baby can wreak havoc on a marriage if the parents don’t make time for each other. So why shouldn’t Christina go out with her husband once a week, when, as Leandra said, they obviously have qualified people at home to babysit for them? And for all we know, one of the grandparents is watching the kid! As for Christina looking drunk, none of us know if that’s true or not, because we’re not at the club watching her every move. She’s the mom of a very small baby: Don’t you think there’s the SLIGHTEST chance she might just be really tired because she was up three times the night before????

I’m not a big Christina fan, by the way — and I wholeheartedly agree that it isn’t fair that Nicole is constantly vilified for going out while nobody’s said a word about Christina. What bugs me more, however, is this archaic, patriarchal idea that when a woman has a baby, she should sit at home with it attached to her tit for months on end. And please, anyone who thinks going out once a week makes somebody a bad mother needs a serious reality check.

  6. Jag says:

I agree… Considering how badly her cover with her baby did on a magazine, it does seem people give her a hard time about things. She has an amazing voice, but the rest of the package leaves a lot to be desired – now more than ever, since she isn’t appearing to be the motherly type. (How many pictures have we seen of Nicole pushing her baby stroller lately? How many of Christina? Yep… no contest.)

  7. Silly Lilly says:

I think that these girls treat babies like accessories the end. I am sure they love their little toys but they are very self centered CHILDREN. I can speak on this because I had one child young and I found myself hiring babysitters to go out with my hubby ALL the time to “not feel couped up”. In my 30’s I had 2 more children. And ALL I wanted to do was be home and care for them. Its perspective and what is important and socially accepted no more no less. Having “resources” for someone to deal with your baby while you have a hangover is a no go. Having booze while NURSING which she loves to talk about her ginormous nursing boobs… is unacceptable. She would have to pump more than ONE feeding out because of alcohol in the breastmilk. I think honestly they are between two worlds and the other world is winning over the perceived dullness of raising a child because THEY WERE NOT READY.

  8. Bodhi says:

I agree that its bullshit that Nicole gets crap while Christina doesn’t.

We see more of Nicole with Harlow, but that doean’t mean that Christina doesn’t spend time with Max or that she is a bad mom.

  9. Silly Lilly says:

re GRANGER…. .when you have a child it is NOT archaic to presume you raise that child. It is not archaic to presume that if you are bringing a person into the world, you WILL absolutely nurture and care for them in the best way possible… or with them hanging from your “tit” as you so eloquently put it. CHILDREN are a choice. IF YOU CHOOSE to be a mother, than be a mother. Infancy lasts one lousy year. ONE. Stay home, and nurse your baby for petesake.

  10. MSat says:

Sigh. To reiterate: I don’t have a problem with a new mom partying. Although, as a mom of four, I don’t know how she has the energy to do it, but whatever.

What I do have a problem with is that the two new moms are treated radically different by the media. If it were Nicole in that photo above, it would be plastered all over the tabloids and people would be questioning her mothering ability.

  11. cara says:

maybe it’s because no one gives a shit about her.

  12. Larissa says:

I doubt that Nicole or X-tina are full time moms, even at home
    so whats the difference really?
pushing a trolly around is faaaar from being a MOM! So thats not really the kind of comparison we are looking for. But talking about fairness…seriously I donΒ΄t feel bad for Nicole at all! I think they (the press) tend to be more negative towards her just because unlike X-tina, she never did anything but partying and shopping her whole life!

  13. elisha says:

I think Nicole seems like an amazing mother and the rags were giving her a hard time from the get-go.

Also from the get-go: Nicole seemed like more gracious, kind mother. Remember the story about Xtina acting like a diva at the hospital while Nicole sent ALLL the other mothers at the hosp, including Xtina and the non-celebs, cards or soemthing?

  14. bc says:

i know it’s totally not on topic, but i gag just looking at “xtina”… ick.
nicole, she’s gotten more beautiful with motherhood.
    the other, not so much.

  15. devilgirl says:

Actually, I have seen more stories about Christina partying than I have Nicole. In fact every one of the stories I have read have vilified Christina. The fact of the matter is, if these women want to go out and party it up, let them. They have help at home to take care of the kiddos. It’s not like they are leaving them alone to fend for themselves while they go out to party.

  16. AP says:

The difference is that one received her fame as a result of her amazing voice and talent and the other received her fame as a result of being a famous someone’s daughter and/or friend. We will always be easier on the person we feel has “earned” their success than we will ever be on people who “inherit” it when compared on similar issues.
    Just my opinion.

  17. mollination says:

just like madonna drove with her kid on her lap but nobody knew about that. dita von teese had an upskirt photo but nobody talked about it. every fucking retard in hollywood is on drugs but let’s talk about britney ONE more time. it’s about persona and it’s bullshit.

What the pics look like to me is that xtina thinks she’s a LOOOOT hotter than she actually is. She’d never get into a V.I.P area let alone a club door if it were based just on her looks like it is for everyone else. she’s disgusting looking.

  18. Jenna says:

Christina doesn’t get critized because it’s been shown that when she is on the covers of the magazines, she doesn’t sell how the publishers want them to. Nicole, however, from all the drama that went on in her past and people wanting to know the tiniest details, makes the magazines sell. It’s smart for them with the whole number of sell things.
Point blank: Nicole sells more covers than Christina.

  19. snappyfish says:

I am guessing Xtina doesn’t get the crap because 1. she earned her money and 2. she is married.

Not that it is fair but I am just guessing. I am sure they have hired the best nannies. I mean does anyone think K-Fed actually watches his kids?

Nicole does have the history of being a heroin addict/party girl so that doesn’t really help her.

  20. NicoleB. says:

All I know is I had my daughter at 18, and did not go out partying all of the time. I am just a regular working mom, who unfortunately had to go back to work when my daughter was 2 weeks old, and I will never get that time back with her. I missed all the great baby moments because I was a single mother who had no choice but to work very hard to support her. These girls just have no clue that this is a special time worth cherishing, not missing because you are going out and having fun.
On the other hand, I am very proud of Nicole Richie for turning her life around to become what seems like a good mom. I am very proud of her. In this case, she is the lesser of the two evils.

  21. devilgirl says:

Good point Snappyfish about Kfed. Also, off topic a little, but since Kfed was mentioned, how is he a more responsible parent than Britney? He also has drugs in his past and he drinks like a fish. Face it, nannies and governesses raise most of the offspring in Hollywood. Not that that is a bad thing when you look at some of the celebrity parents out there, the kids are probably much better off in the care of someone else!

  22. Monstra says:

It’s because Nicole was a crackhead, Christina was only sexually promiscuous.

  23. jennifernicole says:

Christina isn’t a former drug addict. Bottom line. If Nicole does it, she might be slipping back into old patterns.
    (proud of Nicole, btw)
Also, after 9 months of not drinking, alcohol hits harder. So what looks like her being stumbling, bumbling drunk could just be a smaller amount of liquor having a bigger effect. Besides, he should be sleeping through the night now.. at least she’s out drinking and being stumbling then home accidently knocking the kid out of the crib. She goes out, has fun, gets drunk, falls asleep in the car. Easy.

    Disclaimer:
I didn’t read the comments first so pardon me if I say something someone else did.

  24. Jaddedkitten says:

cause no one cares about xtina and her sad clown baby yeah she can sing but so what no one cares that she starting to pull a britney the drinking the staying out late when she got a kid at home the short tight dress the rumors about her husband wanting out of the marriage and that he only married her and had a kid cause he wants her money she could shave her head and stop wearing panties today and we still wouldn’t give a fuck πŸ™„

  25. LiLi says:

    christina is def. breast feeding
the horrible picture of her yesterday on people.com showed her blue breastfeeding veins.
maybe max is better off being raised by a responsible, emotionally ready nanny?

  26. rustytrawler says:

The main reason is that Christina has managed to keep it quiet on her own by not, say, getting pulled over for driving the wrong way down the freeway while on a combination of valium and pot.

It’s hard to shake that rep once you get it.

  27. vdantev says:

Christina Aguilera parties more than Nicole Richie but gets away with it. Cry me a river?! What would America or its petty yellow journalism be without a double standard to wave in our faces.

  28. Kellz says:

To #1…. it may not be the 50’s but psychological studies have shown a “hit or miss” w/ children who have parents absent in the important years (birth-adolescence) so get your shit str8. That’s why America is so fucked up now. That bitch probably knew she wasn’t ready to get pregnant. Its likely she’s gonna have a fucked up child for us to deal w/ as a result of her selfishness and absent-minded behavior. You’re probably not a mom OR a bad mother because you think its okay to act like a fucking teenager instead of a good mother! LEARN A LESSON sluts: don’t have kids unless you are ready for the full time job as a parent! This means you change YOUR LIFESTYLE… not hand off the responsibilities to someone else. Also to #2… she can’t breastfeed because her tits are FAKE!

  29. Kellz says:

Also I want to give a high-five to numbers 9 & 20… obviously someone has their priorities together!

  30. pinky says:

When is the last time a new FATHER (celebrity or husband of a celebrity) was criticized for going out with a baby at home. Can’t think of one incident. At all. Speaking of Nicole Richie, I didn’t see any comments about fatherhood whatsoever when Joel Madden was photographed out with Lindsay Lohan at a party – the only comments were about how Lindsay must have been flirting with him, etc., etc., etc. – no comments about how he “should have been home” with his baby. I’m not saying whether he should have or not – just making the point that men escape this scrutiny. Although women usually are the primary caregivers and in the case of breastfeed babies, are usually with their babies almost 24/7 as a practical matter, I’m tired of fathers getting off the hook when people make these kinds of comments.

  31. Scott F. says:

Being a parent never stops – no matter how stressed out you are. You can’t forget to have a life of your own, but having help doesn’t make it any smarter to go out every week. A nanny can’t replace a biological parent, and every moment you miss with them as an infant is a missed opportunity to build up the relationship you’ll have the rest of your life.

I am so tired of all these apologists saying that these women might grow to resent their children if they don’t live their own lives, that’s bullshit. Here’s a novel idea – if partying is more important to you than caring for a baby, DON’T HAVE A FUCKING BABY.

It’s not like it’s a requirement to have a child. The government doesn’t demand everyone breed, in fact, I’d wager they wish far fewer of us did breed.

It’s this attitude of parental entitlement that has 2 year olds ruining every movie I’ve been to in the last few years. People don’t understand that being a parent requires sacrifice, it requires patience, and above all else it requires perspective. Those without the drive to do it correctly, need not apply.

  32. Lauren says:

I think you make a great point. These women have every right to do what they do and are clearly at the mercy of what the press wants to make of it.

  33. JennGush says:

I think she is disgusting. I understand that moms need to go out every so often but you don’t need to go out and party like that once a week. Give me a freaking break. I don’t go out nearly like that and I don’t even have kids. She’s so sad. I also wonder why she insists on wearing lipstick the shade of white trash nail polish. If it isn’t that bright ass red color it’s that terrible shocking pink color.

  34. Codzilla says:

Christina’s tits are the stuff of nightmares.

  35. Granger says:

I’m sorry, but I just don’t understand how you can logically say that somebody who goes out once a week thinks partying is more important than her child, or that she doesn’t want to be a parent.

I go out at least one evening a week. True, I don’t go clubbing, but I’ll see a movie, attend a preschool meeting, or grab a coffee and browse the bookshelves at the local library. Does that make me a bad mother?

  36. gg says:

I believe you can breastfeed with breast augmentation. They put the sac behind the lactation glands.

One thing about wearing that dark red lipstick — when you make a face, you look hilarious! Look at that photo of her doing the “rock and roll face”. She looks like a clown.

  37. Danielle says:

I am a first-time mother of a 3-month-old bundle of joy and have an immense support system. I was able to reduce my hours to part time as a MH therapist and my husband maintains his position as an administrator at a MH facility. We are fortunate enough that my M-I-L stays at home to help care for my disabled B-I-L and watches my son for free, including some overnights (we are neighbors).

What I can’t understand is why you would want to be out drinking ALL the time. Tying one on on a rare occassion is fine, but as a new parent I am much more interested in catching up on sleep and/or housework or chores I can do so I don’t have to subject my child to be running around all the time.

To be a quality parent, it is important you get some time for yourself if it is at all possible. The other thing is, having a child is NOT something one can prepare themselves for until it actually happens. Who knows — maybe Christina has some post partum and this is how she deals with it. It is very overwhelming to be respponsible for a young life, especially when you have no prior experience. I may not agree with partying all the time, but none of us know what is REALLY going on, and I had mild PPD after my son was born and felt very overwhelmed. Thankfully this is no longer the case, but it is NOT anyone’s right to judge. You cannot measure someone else by your own life experience.

  38. Christina is getting away with her behavior because the press is ignoring her for Nicole. It’s easy to label Nicole a bad parent because she used to be a “bad girl,” but it’s rather weak to say that it’s because she hasn’t done anything to warrant her fame while Christina has. Christina’s career is pretty much dead at this point and, as there are too many people in Hollywood who have had children outside of wedlock, I’m pretty sure Nicole is not catching flack for that.

I’m not passing judgment on anyone, but when you have Nicole who actually tried to do something positive with her pregnancy and seems to have calmed down and you compare her to Christina who has been seen drunk and exhibiting behavior that is less than stellar (compared to before her motherhood), I would have to say that Nicole is getting unfair treatment in the press. I haven’t been a mother yet (due date in early September), but I’m not going to have the luxury of a support system (other than my husband), and my maternity leave is, essentially, losing my job to stay at home until I start school in the fall. Mothers have every right to get out when they can, but when you are scrutinized by the public and nobody ever sees you with your children, it does leave some questions as to your commitment to be a parent (nothing definitive; just questionable).

That, and if Christina’s way of dealing with things is to get drunk, she needs help to find a healthier way to deal with things. Then again, I’ve never understood the appeal of getting drunk, so what do I know.

  39. Linda says:

Will someone please tell this woman to tone down the makeup – she looks like a freakish clown!!!

The orange glow is too much – but my goodness that red lipstick! She is such a pretty girl and the makeup makes her look like a cheap $2 Whore

  40. Jess says:

Christina is nuts. She’s so annoying.

  41. poodlehopper says:

I understand the need to have a night out with friends or husband. It is a shame that parenthood does not take away the sleaziness in a person. This type of behavior seems inconsistent with a person ready to set a good example for their child. Perhaps parenthood was a bit too early for them.

  42. Jody says:

WOW…you know it’s a slow day in the gossip world when an X-tina post gets more than 13 comments, even if it is a heated controversy over what makes someone a shitty parent. I guess it’s either her or the Lohans today.

Maybe someone needs a a day of shadowing a good parent, a parent like K-Fed.

man I crack myself up sometimes…

  43. Nan says:

This girl is partying hard because it dawned on her that she is not pretty. These delusional whores usually need a life altering event to realize this.

  44. Nan says:

Linda, she is such a pretty girl? What are you smoking?

  45. DD says:

What ?? As if every woman would never go out even once without their baby when they have the resources to do so. How is that neglecting your child? Get off your high horses. And whatever you say about these mothers should be said as well about the fathers of these babies too. This chauvinistic and holier than thou attitude is disgusting.

  46. Scott F. says:

Oh for Christ’s sake! Can people not criticize any woman EVER without it being deemed chauvinistic? The article isn’t talking about the fathers, it’s talking about the mothers, thus why people would only be mentioning them! I know that’s a feat of deductive logic that might be beyond some of you, but try to work it out next time.

I don’t think I saw one person here say it would be alright if it was the father doing it instead of the mother. The people who say they shouldn’t act like this are saying that PARENTS shouldn’t act like this, not just MOTHERS.

Sexism is becoming the new racism, and communism before that – apparently it’s hiding behind literally every corner. Let your minds rest at ease ladies, we can’t even remember to zip our flies most of the time, let alone construct a giant world-wide conspiracy to oppress you.

  47. kat says:

I say both of them should spend more time at home (as should the babies fathers) bonding with their children. If you still want to be out partying every Friday night then you should not have a child, regardless of financial situations.

No one requires you to have children, these two did it for selfish reasons IMO. Christina for the publicity and Nicole as a get out of jail free card. I have a bigger problem with her for that than the partying. A child should be brought into this world to love, not because you need to get out of a bad PR situation (and you don’t want to go to jail).

And I don’t have a problem with people having nannies, when you work you need that help, but that isn’t an excuse to dump your kid to party. You notice you don’t see Angelina out partying every Friday, getting drunk. I think when she adopted Maddox, she made the commitment to be a real mom, not one just for the publicity.

  48. Nova says:

Its not just once a week that she stumbles out of a club…but several weekdays in a ROW. That is the sign of a problem and I agree that they are picking on the wrong mommy here. Nicole is doing great while Xtina is proving to us that partying is way more important to her.

  49. futureman says:

She’s got bigger jugs. That gives you a lot of leeway.

(I apologize for the above rude comments and hope that no one judges me on the obviously true statement)

  50. daisfly says:

Give me a break. Going out a few times a month doesn’t, in any way, shape, or form, imply that a mother doesn’t care about her child. If motherhood meant not leaving one’s child…EVER…fewer people would be mothers, and we’d have a whole lot of co-dependent brats running around.

Also, being the parent of a newborn myself, I can say that the rigors of taking care of him can make me extremely exhausted. Going out can be a joyous event, but when it’s time to go home, I am so tired, I LOOK drunk, even though I haven’t had a drink in years, because of how TIRED I am.

That being said, so many people seem to forget that when a couple have a baby, while yes, they are now parents, they are STILL a couple, and THEIR relationship has to be nurtured as well. How many people have watched their relationships unravel because one parent is far more focused on rearing the child than they are focusing on strengthening the entire family unit?

Leave the girls alone. When they start leaving their kids home every single night, like Britney or K-Fed, or start covering their faces in masks and introducing them to “treasure rooms” and masks like Michael Jackson, then I’ll worry. Until then, a few nights out a month isn’t going to get my panties in a bunch.

  51. DD says:

if this isn’t about chauvinism then why is it that their is never ever an article out there criticising the father for being out partying and not helping to take care of his baby??
    Show me one pls.
    uh huh, thanks.

  52. Scott F. says:

Um, DD – this article, and the other one’s you’ve mentioned on this site are primarily written by MSAT.

Directly from the writer’s page on this site –

“MSat is a public relations director by day and the single mother of four children.”

Yeah, really chauvinistic isn’t it? It’s just that the men in these relationships aren’t famous, so no one gives a shit about what they’re doing.

  53. paris herpes says:

She has like zero tolerance for alcohol. That’s what I see. Maybe she shouldn’t be breastfeeding…

  54. DD says:

oh scott the lead singer from good charlotte is not famous?? That’s strange. I realize that MSat is one person but you’d still be hard pressed to find any negative things written about the fathers of these children not being at home every minute of the day and night

  55. fee says:

My son in 3 and i’ve been out boozing twice in all that time…….i dont wanna miss him growing up for the world….and besides, i havent got 3 nannies to look after him while i sleep off a hangover!

  56. Other Karen says:

btw, the header photo has a bit of a nip slip on one side. Maybe it should be starred out? But maybe no one notices because of the topic in question.

We really have no idea what kind of moms they are. They could totally ignore their kids at home, or spend 20 hours a day with them.

  57. Granger says:

Nope. Nobody has yet convinced me how a woman who goes out for an evening is missing out on quality time with her infant. Her baby is very likely in bed before she even leaves the house, and probably doesn’t wake up for a feed until early morning.

Whether or not she’s drinking excessively, I can’t say, because I’m obviously not there with her. I will reiterate, however, that I think it’s very possible all the pics people have supposedly seen of her drunk have simply shown a very tired new mom heading home for the night.

  58. Jen says:

The judgement in some of these comments is ridiculous. When my sister lived with my husband and I, she would babysit our 2 small kids once a week for us to go out. We’d go out and I’d get drunk, because it was a great way to unwind after a week stuck in the house as a stay-at-home-mom. My husband would get up with the kids the next morning while I slept it off. Who cares? The kids were well cared for at ALL times, and I’m sure this is the same with Christina’s son.

As a mother, I put everything on hold for my kids, and I am entitled to a fun night out as long as it doesn’t interfere with my children’s lives and doesn’t harm them.

    So get over yourselves.

  59. GrnMt says:

For the record: These “girls” are not young. Christina is a 27 year old woman, and Nicole is 26.

I was 18 when I got married and almost 21 when I had my first baby – I was young. And, despite my youth, I was fully responsible for and capable of taking care of a family. Youth is not an excuse.

Additionally, there are plenty of articles out there about bad Hollywood fathers: David Hasselhoff, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Federline (pre Britney head-shaving), Ryan O’neal, Hulk Hogan, etc, etc, etc.

  60. Jenna says:

Yeah off topic but I saw this in a comment.

Not that I care about this band but the lead singer of Good Charlotte, his name isn’t Scott. It’s either Joel or Benji. Definatly not Scott. πŸ™„

  61. ff says:

To answer your initial question, Richie has admitted past substance abuse and prior to pregnancy had a DUI (of Vicodin), so people will point at her first because of her past.

Aguilera is married so people can assume baby is home with dad – it’s no difference between having a solid boyfriend at home looking after baby but it might make a difference in people’s minds – and she hasn’t yet gone to rehab or had a near miss with prison so people are either not interested or giving her the benefit of the doubt.

However, these things always catch up with celebs and all it would take is a car crash or a DUI for everyone to be on her back too.

  62. Julie says:

I won’t even comment on the whole “babies as celebrity collectibles” thing, because as a REAL mom… well, it just makes me nauseated.

However, I would like to ask this question.

Why does Christina always look like she puts her makeup on with Black and Decker tools? I mean, seriously, I could carve my initials into the pancake on her face without ever touching skin, I’m convinced of it. She looks like a slutty female Ronald McDonald or something.

Tone down the makeup, for Pete’s sake!

  63. janica_21 says:

it’s so sad to know that some of hollywood babies are staying with their nanny while their parents are partying all night long.. what a shame! it’s seems like, they are jst having babies for popularity purposes only (just to have those photoshoots with their babies and post them in the magazines)..!! they are earning money because of thier kids..having babies is like an investment to them..! lols πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

  64. 😐 Why does she have on so much damn makeup?

  65. Kelbellz says:

i think christina needs to go back to her baby, at least we see pictures of nicole, joel, and her baby all together having a good time.I thought that chrisitna was going to be one of those moms who wants to spend every waking secound with her beloved child.
If you dont want a baby dont have one, you have the choice now to go out every night and party or stay home with your child.
I think every once and a while its ok, sure you need some girl time but you have a newborn.
Hun get your act together please, i know you can be more than that. πŸ˜•

  66. Molly says:

I think everyone is jumping to conclusions, I didn’t see a single shot of her with a drink in her hand. Besides, her life is her business. So is Nicole’s, Britney’s, Lindsay’s…etc. I think you should lay off all of them.

  67. What a rocking put up man – thanks! And excellent weblog website theme BTW. It seems to be a good deal like a wordpress weblog web page however I do know it is blogenegine and it’s totally distinctive. The place did you unearth it?
