Spoilers for past and potentially future Glee episodes
I’m not all caught up with Glee and still haven’t seen this week’s show. After the disjointed Brittany Britney episode I gave it a pass for a while, but I’ve finally seen Grilled Cheesus, last week’s episode, and I was won over again. Glee really needs to focus on the storyline like it did last week and not try to accommodate guest artists’ ideas that vary so much from the regular format.

Anyway in this week’s episode Puck, played by Mark Salling, is sent away to juvie. Rumor has it that producers are trying to marginalize his character after Salling violated his contract by recording a solo album. “Someone” (aka Salling’s people) leaked to E! Online that this isn’t the case, though, and that Puck’s absence doesn’t mean that he’s getting pushed off the show.

Our source adamantly says Mark’s absence from the show does not have anything to do with his album. Anyone notice Jayma Mays gone last night too? And no one’s making a fuss over that.

“Mark would never prioritize anything over the show, he respects the executives and his cast too much to do that,” spills our Glee insider.

“People forget that he’s been doing music for almost a decade before Glee,” adds our source. “He just has a target on his back because he’s the first of the cast to do a solo album.”

Which, by the way, we hear the cast is totally supportive of.

“A lot of the cast are planning solo albums as well, they are celebrating Mark’s release, not creating drama out of it,” ‘fesses Deep Gleek.

And if you remember, Glee fans, Dianna Agron was absent from a few episodes in the first season when she was pursuing her movie career, so this isn’t all that strange.

So never fear, Puck lovers, we’re told hottie Mark will be back steaming up the small screen ASAP.

“He’s still a series regular,” adds our studio insider. “Mark will be back soon, Mohawk in full force, with a major bad boy comeback.”

[From E! Online]

Would anyone really care if Puck was off that show? I wouldn’t. It’s not like he’s central to the plot. I would like to see Rachel, Lea Michele’s character, marginalized too. In many ways Lea is the star, but they’re making her character so one-dimensional, self-centered and annoying that it’s like they’re trying to push her out anyway.

I would say that Salling should stick to his day job, but there are plenty of much less talented kids who are making it on their own, with The Situation, Sooki and any random Jenner-Kardashian coming to mind. If Salling can crank out a hit or two he may be successful in making a name for himself outside Glee.

Salling’s first solo album, Pipe Dreams, is out on October 26th. AOL is featuring a series of video interviews with him in which he talks about his love of music and his new endeavors. He’s serious about it, I’ll give him that.

I really like him especially when they give him something emotional! He is really hot too! I agree about Rachel, she is really annoying. I loved the Asian duet last night!!! I think they are a super cute couple and I loved the stuff between Britney and Artie!!!

  2. Marianne says:

I do think it would be stupid if they, wrote him off the show only because he’s promoting his album…but honestly. I wouldn’t miss him if they did.

  3. chasingadalia says:

It’ll be nice to hear what his voice sounds like, before the Glee voice engineers get their hands on it.

  4. Roma says:

I’ve never found him exceptionally attractive but in those glasses? Damn.

  5. Jess says:

I like the new blonde kid. So I’m okay with him being written off. Either way..

  6. Harper says:

I love Puck! His eye-candyness is one of the reasons I stick with the show even in its more drab moments.

  7. gabs says:

Id rather Puck than the boring new guy thats dating quinn now. Seriously why did they need him or that storyline? boring.

As long as they never get rid of chris colfer im good. Kurt is the heart of the show.

  8. Samigirl says:

Ok seriously, I have a problem. People *coughdemimoorecough* wearing those stupid, black framed, over sized glasses that aren’t even prescription, they just wear them because they are “new” and “hip” or whatever. They look stupid unless you are over 60 years old. Which, ok Demi is close, but still.
    Ok, sorry, rant over.

  9. Abby says:

I love the character Puck on the show. He has some really funny lines. I think this story is made up.

  10. Anne says:

I would miss him if he was off the show, but I would still watch.

  11. michael says:

no! we need topless hunk photos CB!

  12. Bella Bella says:

I’ve started fast forwarding through Rachel’s solos. ugh!

  13. Lynn says:

” Anyone notice Jayma Mays gone last night too? And no one’s making a fuss over that.”
Um, that’s because we weren’t given a reason for her absence. The excuse to use a storyline to cover his absence indicated that he won’t be there for a while.

  14. julie says:

he’s only going to be missing from one more episode, the rocky horror one, so i don’t see what the fuss is about.

  15. Jeri says:

Noticed he had been missing lately & being in the class/choir it is especially noticeable. Wondered what was going on & figured it was something behind the scene.

  16. Leah! says:

    Me too, #12.

  17. Confuzzle says:

Dunno who he is but he’s high as a kite in those pix.

  18. Mairead says:

Shush you people, Puck is a brilliant character – and a hell of a lot more interesting than Finn (and a better, fuller voice too tbh).

That said, I remain Team Artie, with Team Kurt’s Dad as my second choice 😀 But I loved the story between him and Brittany S. Piers, she’s becoming a firm favourite of mine along with Santana.

This week’s episode (which I saw by flying over to the US to see, if the internetz polis ask 😉 ) was a real return to form to the first series, which the last two lacked, so ignore the last two and just start watching from now. And to clarify, “Grilled Cheezus” was just a terrible episode, full stop.

  19. Kerri says:

My husband had a theory that Puck’s character is hot, and much more so than the new blond kid. So to give Blondie a chance, they pulled Puck off the show so that he wouldn’t draw all of the teenage girls’ attention away from Blondie.

I could care less either way, because I totally love Chris Colfer and Mike O’Malley’s characters. If they kill off Kurt’s dad, I am seriously giving up on this show.

  20. Wens says:

Puck needs to stay, we all love a bad boy right – but why’s he going to juvie, he hasn’t done anything bad in any of the episodes so doesn’t make sense!?
Love Finn, that smile melts my heart but the fact that he continues to date that stupid, self centred ego manic is putting me off him.
Kurt is the cutuest – loved the diva off episode – it’s basically just a great, make me feel happy silly show and Britney playing Britney was fantastic – amazing dance routines and really entertaining.

  21. Dominique says:

I don’t find any of the guys all that attractive, but Puck the least of all because I don’t like his solos and the weird way his eyebrows come up. Forgive me, I guess I’m just irritable today.
