Spike Lee bitches about everything. He always has to throw out the race card, when he is one of the biggest racists out there. He needs to quit policing other peoples movies and work on his own. The two movies were based upon specific events during WWII, sorry if they did not include an African American.Why doesn’t he do his own film about the forgotten black heroes from WWII if he is so passionate about their exclusion from Clints films. In war, a soldier is a soldier. They aren’t black, white, brown, yellow, green…..they are all brothers banded together under the only colors that matter-Red, white and blue!

I could not agree more with both my predecessors. Yes, there were black troops in WWII, who no doubt fought heroically. No, they were not present when the flag was raised at Iwo Jima, which is what the movie is about.

To my knowledge the only black troops that saw combat in WWII were in the Army and Army Air Corps. In the Navy and Marine Corps they were still cooks and supply runners, and that’s why they weren’t in the movie.
This was the Pacific War we’re talking about Dana, which means all those boys were combat Marines, and thus not black. Like other people pointed out, it was racist when it happened, but to portray it that way now is just being historically accurate.
There weren’t any women represented either, or eskimos, or Nicaraguans. Don’t here them bitching about it.

In “Flags of our Fathers”, wasn’t the main protagonist Native American? I remember being very excited about a Native staring in a movie beyond “Smoke Signals”, (a Sioux, no less!) but I have to admit I fell asleep part-way through it.

That is what the movie was about, so what the F does that stupid Spike Lee wants?
No one has insulted any one, and the movie is about real people who were there and were in that picture.
What does it have to do with Blacks and race?
Is every single thing in the world has to do with race?
What about women or other minorities?Should we critizice EVERY film esp. Lee’s about how many women are there and how they are presented?
Having a hero that is a Native American is laudable, and I think that his words sound hateful.
