Cameron Diaz curses out Abercrombie staff when she can’t have a t-shirt

Like the Mark Wahlberg quote about the Beckhams we just reported, this story is from the Daily Star and may be based on a tabloid report or it could be completely fabricated. Since it’s Cameron Diaz we’re talking about and she doesn’t have a reputation for being gracious, kind or understanding, I’ll repeat it and not feel guilty about it.

Supposedly Diaz was at an Abercrombie & Fitch when she tried to buy a t-shirt that said “Jesus Goat,” and was told that it was unavailable because it was the last one. She got super pissed and came up with one of the most original insults I’ve ever heard. She supposedly called uncooperative staff “dick fiends.” That’s incredibly inventive of her and adds an element of truth to this story:

Cameron Diaz rowed with staff at an Abercrombie & Fitch store, say reports.

The Charlie’s Angels actress got angry when she was told that she couldn’t purchase a specific T-shirt, which was the last of its kind in the shop.

According to the Daily Star, Diaz, 35, shrieked and stamped her feet in protest. When leaving, the actress allegedly called the staff “d**k fiends”.

The T-shirt apparently had the words “Jesus Goat” printed on the front.

I might get pissed off that I couldn’t have an item that was right there in the store but was somehow forbidden to me. Maybe I wouldn’t yell and curse them out, but I would probably ask to see the manager and wonder why the thing was off limits even though it was on display. It’s possible the shirt was on a mannequin or something. Stores usually let you have buy off the mannequins though if you ask. You wonder if someone thought they would just give Cameron a hard time. In that case there’s a retail employee with an attitude that deserves a raise.

Major points to anyone who can find a photo of this “Jesus Goat” t-shirt. I looked for a while and it proved elusive. (I’m technically on vacation, so if you find the shirt it may take me a little while to post it.)

Here’s Cameron leaving Madeo restauarant on 5/30/08, thanks to WENN.

Hey Cameron, ever heard of making your own t-shirt decals on your computer? You go to Office Depot, buy the tranfer kit, go home, get on the computer, find your desired design, scan and voila! Jesus Goat t-shirt in no time flat and without having made a complete spoiled ass of yourself in the process. Hope as big of a deal is made about this as it has been over the LeBoeuf kids use of the word “F#%^&!

  2. WTF?!?! says:

Cameron Diaz is a no-talent fug who looks like the Olsen twins’ birth mother. Sorry, rich and famous, but it hurts to be told “No”, doesn’t it? Welcome to reality.

  3. Jody says:

I can tell you that it’s usually stuck-up entightled white kids that work there, so I might use that as an excuse to be rude right back.
That being said, they’re teenagers, and you’re an adult– just get the manager next time. And while you have them, tell them to stop spraying that awful cologne, the smell usually moves into the entire mall and makes me want to barf.

p.s. I don’t know how valid the story is though, because I work part time in retail, and we’ll take shit off the mannequin if it means your money.

  4. vdantev says:

    WOW!

So that’s what too much collagen does to your lips.

    Dumb B*tch.

  5. Banana Boat says:

She is 35. A little too long in the tooth to be throwing tantrums, insulting kids(the staff are usually teenagers there)and wearing ironic fucking t shirts that say things like ‘Jesus Goat’. Those things should remain in the domain of underfed hipsters not women years from middle age.

  6. elisha says:

I think this story is fake because the shirt simply doesn’t exist. I tried googling multiple variations of:

    “jesus goat” shirt -diaz

And nothing comes up. Only two hits for

    “jesus goat” abercrombie -diaz

I also tried looking up Hollister and American Eagle. Nothing on any of the company’s sites, either.

  7. bored says:

I agree that Cameron Diaz seems like an entitled bitch, but I don’t understand how the fact that she supposedly called them dick fiends make this story any more likely to be true, it could just be some inventive reporting.

  8. Codzilla says:

They should have kicked her ass out of there, and then featured that fact prominently in their next ad. Business would go through the roof.

As for why she couldn’t have the shirt, maybe the only version they had left wasn’t in her size or something. Who the hell knows. I can’t believe I’m wasting what little brain power I have trying to figure this shit out.

  9. elisha says:

I don’t think Urban Outffiters has anything either, but I got bored of sifting through 19 pages of tops so I may’ve missed it.

  10. jedmama says:

I used to have a friend who worked at a&f. a&f’s policy about displays is NOT to sell them – period, to anybody. Something about weird ownership of the display clothing if i remember right. a&f will not sell their display clothing to anybody.

  11. Bodhi says:

Why the hell is a 35 year old woman shopping at A&F anyway? I mean, I know she constantly behaves like a 15 year old girl but still

  12. Tammy says:

Well I don’t know if the story is true, but I do know that at Abercrombie and Hollister they mark the display ticket as “display only, not for sale” and have refused to sell one to me before. Who the hell would buy a shirt that says Jesus Goat anyway, what the hell is that?

  13. Celebitchy says:

Thanks for looking Elisha, it could be a fake story you’re right. And thanks Tammy for that info about how they mark display-only items at Abercrombie.

  14. Ron says:

I doubt this is true. Having worked in BH retailers, if something like this comes up, you would call Studio/VIP services and have them get the shirt for the celeb and send it over, gratis. As with any retailer, you want a celeb like Cameron to wear your stuff in public and she will. This in turn will sell THOUSANDS of Jesus Goat shirts. I have personally waited on her and she was pleasant enough with me…but that would have been almost 10 years ago.

  15. just me says:

Is it just me or does she kind of look like an olson twin in the header pic? I agree vdantev – way too much collagen!

  16. shesaid says:

No, it’s true. It happened to me. They will not sell anything off of the manequin. They don’t care how much you beg; it appears to be their strict policy.

  17. Holly says:

I googled Jesus Goat and Abercrombie and didn’t come up with the shirt either. I’m not sure if it exists. Who knows if this is true?

I can totally picture her saying D*ck Fiends though. That’s the only part that sounds legit!

  18. janica_21 says:

lols.. i like this! a celebrity is not allowed to buy a shirt because of compny policy… welcome to the real world… 😆

  19. kate says:

wouldn’t surprise me if this is true … i’ve read on bitterwaitress that she is a really obnoxious customer and a terrible tipper.

  20. Mairead says:

I really like Cammie (but not whatever effect she’s going for with the injections) so I don’t want this to be true.

But like the others I think it’s BS as nothing comes up for any type of “Jesus” t-shirt on the Abercrombie website. Plus the report is from the Daily Star, so highly unlikely to be true.

  21. Genevieve says:

I happen to be a retail store manager, and while I have MANY issues with the sub par customer service that Abercrombie is known for, this is a standard response from any boutique/specialty store which has multiple outlets with very active corporate involvement. In the franchised boutique setting, the merchandise that is shown on display is standardized, so that it cannot be taken down by retail employees- normally, display merchandise is considered the property of the merchandising department and not available for sale.

Much more disturbingly, I can say that Cameron’s behaviour is the NORMAL response made by middle-age female and teenaged customers alike. I am not surprised that she threw a hissy fit because I see this immature behaviour every day from full grown adults.
It is both annoying and inconsiderate for customers to accost multiple employees (manager and associate) in order to have a “special” allowance made for them. The world does not revolve around you.
Next time the item is not available in the store, ask POLITELY if there is any way that the employee can either reserve the item once it is taken down or request a transfer from another store. We will work miracles for you, but only if you are polite. I will not, under any circumstance, bend the rules for someone who does not show me the respect a fellow human being deserves.

    Have a great day!

  22. Cindy Kennedy says:

I believe this story is bogus. There is no such thing as a Jesus Goat t-shirt by Abercrombie & Fitch.

Its amazing what people will believe.

  23. elisha says:

Alrighty then, judging by all these “I used to work there” posts, it sounds to meeeeee like the person who made this story up tried buying something off an Abercrombie mannequin and was turned down…. so they made this up either because they wanted to retaliate against A&F (although it’s not exactly BAD publicity so it’s not working) orrrr it was a slow news day so they thought “hhhmmm, that sounds like a good story for Cammy D”.

  24. JuliaJolie says:

how weird that it’ their policy, but wouldn’t they want to shift that last sale or something?

I worked in H&M and in a department store and if it was the last item on display, we’d sell it because…what’s the point of having it on display? Not only is there no more in stock of it TO display, but it’s also false advertising, because it suggests that there’s more where that came from in the shop.

But to call the staff (who are probably tweens) names is in poor taste, IMHO.

  25. me says:

I work for abercrombie. Clothes on the mannequin are owned by the store (impact team to be exact) so they are not for sale. Most have been altered to fit mannequins and stretched, knotted or cut so it would be lame to sell that to someone. I know its ridiculous, but stuff on display is not for sale… no matter who you are.

  26. G. says:

my question is why she would throw a fit when she has the money to make her own shirt? If I was as rich as her, I wouldn’t be shopping at Abercrombie anyways.

PS: Wow, there’s actually another person on here with the name Genevieve! Cool!

  27. Pamela says:

    How very mature, silly woman!

  28. WHY? says:

    That Jackie Kennedy look definitely
    doesn’t work for Cameron.

When I was 12, I had a friend who lived off the main road of town. Next to her house was an empty lot where we used to run and play tag. But these activities became old, and one day we decided to wander over to the house on the left. Actually, to the fenced-in yard of that house.

In this pen there were seven small goats. As we watched them, an old car drove by and its engine backfired. Right then we saw every one of those goats fall over. We stood wide-eyed in amazement as each goat lay lifeless before us: We thought they’d died. Then, slowly, each one got up and continued grazing as if nothing had happened. We dubbed them “Jesus goats.”

While I do know that most stores aren’t allowed to take display clothing done, I would think that with a celeb, they would make it happen. Should they? No, that only caters to a fantasy world of getting whatever you want with a hissy. But I think most would.

Also, to WHY?: I’ve heard of those fainting goats before!

  30. Fillup says:

I love Cameron, she is soo Pretty.

  31. Bri says:

The reason why they don’t allow people to buy the stuff off the mannequins is because they’re damaged. They’re pinned, streched, etc to look the way they do. If you want a damaged item then go for it.

  32. dan says:

no, you can’t buy anything from the display.. coz anf put pin, cut jeans, stretch on the fabric to make it look good. they will only sell u the one in their stock but not from the display. ( i work at anf)

  33. I do know that most stores aren’t allowed to take display clothing done, I would think that with a celeb, they would make it happen.

  35. I love those coats too. My bff got hers @ abercromie, the same coat in the pic… only white… you could try deb they have alot of coats idk if they have that kind or not though.
