Jamie Lynn going through false labor

Being pregnant in summertime must suck. Being pregnant at 17 must really suck. Put those two things together, and you have whole new levels of suckitude. And unfortunately for Jamie Lynn Spears, that is exactly what she is going through. “Insiders” (I love “insiders” – I imagine they’re mostly comprised of small house rodents and bugs that report back to E! News and Star once a week) say Spears is in the last few weeks of her pregnancy, and is remarkably uncomfortable. She’s also been dealing with some false labor cramps.

“She’s feeling so large and just feeling all the discomfort that comes with it,” a source close to Jamie Lynn tells E! News. The pregnant teen has also been hit with some mild cramps for the past two days, our insider says. “Sounds like some false labor pains,” says the friend. “But nothing serious enough to go to the hospital over. They called her doctor, but everything’s fine.”

At least the pregnant teen has plenty of support. Daddy Casey Aldridge is doing his best to make her feel better, rubbing her back when the cramps kick up, says our source. And her mom is at her side, pitching in with last-minute nursery decorating. But the humid summer heat plaguing Mississippi (where the parents-to-be own a home) isn’t helping. Even a brief trip outdoors leaves her sticky with sweat.

“Britney apparently called her recently and ordered her to stay inside, under the air conditioning, as much as possible,” the source says. “It was really cute.” Britney and father Jamie have been calling regularly to check in on the mommy-to-be, who is expected to deliver at the end of this month. Unless, of course, the baby’s late.

“Jamie Lynn knows first babies have a habit of being late,” says the pal. “And she isn’t too happy about it. I think she’s ready for all this pregnancy stuff to be over and the mommy stuff to start.”

[From E! News]

I’m under the impression that once the “mommy stuff” starts, that when things really get difficult. I mean it’s great that you’re not throwing up all the time anymore, but it’s more than made up for with the crying and the diapers and lack of sleep. I’m no expert, but I really don’t think Jamie Lynn’s going to find motherhood to be some permanent reprieve.

It does seem like she’s willing to really focus on her baby, since she bought a house near her mom’s home in Kentwood, Louisiana. At first everyone was assuming she’d raise her baby in Los Angeles while working on her acting career. But last time I checked, Kentwood wasn’t exactly the Hollywood of the South. So it sounds like Jaime Lynn will probably focus on raising her baby for now. Hopefully the next few weeks won’t be too uncomfortable for her, and the baby won’t be late.

  2. It’s only beginning. Dealing with a two year old can almost make you look back on pregnancy with longing. Dealing with a 16 year old who wrecks her car definitely makes false labor look like a walk in the park.

But yes, summer pregnancy can be a bitch. I had two in August, and we didn’t have A/C. Three little words describe me: Jabba the Hut.

  4. I totoally agree with you Syko……….my daughter just turned 4 on Friday (yes, the 13th) and I’m just praying and waiting patiently for her to actually listen when I say no! Girls are definately more work than boys as far as that goes, my boys were so laid back compared to her! Oh, and I think I read JamieLynn is having a girl…….God Bless Her & I wish her luck!

  5. Hey, that’s what she gets for not using birth control. I have no pity for her.

  6. I’m so over the comments about how this girl “should’ve kept her legs closed” or that she somehow got what she deserved because she dared to have sex with her boyfriend. Oh god forbid she not remain a virgin until marriage, like all of you did, I’m sure.

For all anyone knows, they did use birth control. That stuff is not 100% effective. Most teens have sex- a few are unlucky enough to face negative consequences for it, but it is unfair and, frankly, sexist to label her a slut just because she accidentally got pregnant.

  7. Do they mean Braxtion-Hicks contractions? I thought those were painless.

  8. kolby - Braxton-Hicks do hurt, just not as much as real labor pain - but if you’ve never been pregnant before, how would you know the difference? I thought i was going into labor with falsies, and when the real ones came along, I knew it!

  9. Braxton Hicks not hurting is like when the doctor tries to tell you that it’s not labor pains, it’s contractions.

    It all hurts.

  10. I have a lot of empathy for this poor girl. She’s a baby having a baby and it’s apparent there is no parental guidance in the family. Something went wrong a long time ago, one only needs to take a look at Britney to confirm that fact.

That’s not to say she should be excused for her actions but for crissakes, someone dropped the ball in that family and the children are paying the price.

  11. Thank you Dingles!
As a teenager (I’m 19)who has sex with my boyfriend…and ONLY my boyfriend, i find it odd that girls who have sex with more then one guy and don’t get pregnant aren’t (usually) labeled sluts, while girls who do get pregnant, even after sleeping with one guy …are forever labeled “slut” or “whore” Birthcontrol, while mostly effective, can stop working if your on prescription meds for colds or other things.

  12. Moms-to-be of all ages, married or not, are usually nervous or scared, so it’s good that Jamie Lynn has been preparing for it all with the parenting classes and such. Not the best role model for “sex can wait,” but very good for “Shit happens, take responsibility for it.” Wouldn’t that make a great PSA? It’s certainly more realistic.

  13. Amen to Dingles, Hollz, and Mandy! Birth control is great, but also a pain in the ass. I’ve always used Depo shots, and the sign that it IS working (no periods) is the same as the sign that it’s NOT, so I’m paranoid! When my boyfriend and I say we’re “feeling spiritual,” it just means we’re praying to God that I’m not pregnant.

  14. I saw this girl when she was about ten during the time that Britney was being filmed for some reality thing. Her little ’sis was a giant bag of “look at me, look at me” way back then. I think she was also wearing some make up and definitely acted like a flirt(read as tart). The only thing that surprises me is that she wasn’t knocked up at 13 or 14. And you know what, she should regard Braxton Hicks as positive because it may result in the cervex opening up a bit.

  17. I wouldn’t be smiling either if I had a paparazzi following me around in my HOME state (ie NOT L.A. where they belong) and it was 97 degrees outside and my sister was a fucking nutbar who required my dad to be permanently on leave while my mother was busy writing a tell all book instead of helping ME! yeah…i’d be hamming it up to make sure they got a good shot, too!!
