When I first saw these photos of Sharon Stone at last night’s AIDS charity gala, I was slightly overcome. Is Sharon Stone a crazy bitch? Sure. Is she not that talented as an actress? Sure. But this woman can wear the hell out of a black leather turtleneck dress, can’t she? The body looks great, and the face is rather amazing too. What a great red carpet appearance for her. Personally, I think Sharon is “dressing her age” while still looking younger and sexier than most women her age. She doesn’t look desperate, I think. She’s covered up yet she’s still showing off her figure. She could give Demi Moore some pointers.
So, here’s the question: Should Sharon Stone be style role model for over-40 women? Or is she a style role model for women of all ages? Is she timeless?

I don’t know what to say. It’s not a terrible dress in terms of fit, but her need to always draw attention to her body is so tedious.

I don’t think she qualifies as a role model because she is so extraordinarily beautiful. Her “looks” don’t translate to the rest of us schlubs well because we don’t have her figure/face.
Case in point: I like the dress on her, but almost no one else could pull it off.

I get a hotflash just looking at it but it’s dreamy. Looks like it’s made of kid glove leather, which is very thin and stretchy.

@mln; not ugly, just less luminescent. i.e. Katie Holmes, Liv Tyler, Jennifer Aniston, etc. When Katie wears something great, I know that I could wear it too because I have thicker legs. Or Jenn Aniston because our coloring and upper bodies are similar.
Sharon’s coloring and figure are so exquisite she’s not easy to copy.
I’m voting fabulous. I like the dress (even though she must be so hot and sweaty in it) and it looks good on her.

She looks great–I would have done a more interesting shoe though. I have met Sharon few times and she is STUNNING in person. She doesn’t wear tons of makeup which I think is very helpful. And if she has had any surgery you can;t tell. One of the most beautiful women I have ever seen live and in person and she has always been really nice. I know others who have horror stories about her, but my experiences have all been good.
My reaction seeing this was to literally say aloud, “YIKES”. I wish I had more hands to give it four thumbs DOWN.

I think the dress was headed in the right direction. But I think the heels are a little too short and either the sleeves should have been cut off at the elbow or something changed. It’s a little too much coverage.

Hello? She’s over 50, people.
And that dress would be sexy on her if she was 40. But she’s 52. She looks tacky in it. She’s trying so hard to turn back the clock and keep her age from truly showing, but what she doesn’t seem to realize is that she’s trying too hard to keep that from happening. She could dress a little more appropriately for her age and still look drop dead gorgeous. This dress is made for someone half her age.
Oh, and by the way, to Stubbylove: Yeah we can all pray to look like her when we’re her age, but prayer has nothing to do with it. It’s botox, facelifts, personal trainers, and money. Most women like myself have more important things in life to deal with. That’s why few of us will look like her at 52.
