Sienna Miller’s cream Stella McCarthney gown: cute or totally ’80s?

wenn3073681

God, I really, really hate Sienna Miller’s dress. She wore this cream/champagne gown from the Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2010 collection to an UNESCO gala in Germany over the weekend, and I’m finding it so unflattering. I’ve said before that I don’t really care for Sienna’s fashion most of the time, and I’ve never really understood why she’s considered a style icon, but usually her choices are much more flattering than this. It just ages her – she looks like a contemporary to Joan Collins! The gown veers to the 1980s too, and not in a trendy way. In a “let’s throw on a high-neckline sparkly gown and toss on some paste jewels and pop pills until we pass out” kind of way. Anyway, the event was for UNESCO’s Education for Children in Need, so at least it was a good cause?

She’s usually the pin-up for boho chic, but Sienna Miller cut a far more sophisticated figure on the red carpet today. The actress opted for a old Hollywood glamour look as she attended the UNESCO Charity-Gala 2010 at the Maritim Hotel in Dusseldorf, Germany. And in her champagne-coloured floor-length dress and elaborate yet subtle jewellery, Sienna pulled the vintage look off perfectly.

The 28-year-old also had her hair tied up into a chic bun, instead of letting it hang in loose waves as she usually prefers.

Sienna was working the red carpet at the event as she supported Donatella Versace in raising funds for UNESCO’s Education for Children in Need program.

[From The Daily Mail]

Except it wasn’t vintage! It was a new Stella McCartney dress and Sienna looks like a 50-something divorcee circa 1985! Beyond the dress, though… I do have to admit, Sienna is not aging very well. Too much liquor and cigarettes and sunbathing with no sunscreen.

One last thing: Donatella Versace was at the event too… and this photo is making my life. If I was one of these children’s parents, I would be terrified.

Nice design on the gown. Needs to be worn on a more ‘mature’ woman. She is too young to wear it.

Pretty bad. I can’t even defend it. I love Stella McCarthney to and I can’t defend it.

She has no hips. However, she does look beautiful, IMHO. Drats.

I think the dress just looks cheap. She’s a pretty girl, though.
Donatella’s face hurts to look at.

I don’t know… sexay times with Jude seem to be doing her good….it doesn’t really matter what she’s wearing, she seems radiantly happy these days…which is always attractive.

I’m usually quite the Sienna supporter, but this look falls flat… Sienna is a petite girl, and this dress needs to be worn on a very tall woman. Perhaps if she had styled her hair in a more 1930s, Veronica Lake type way. Sienna does have nearly perfect bone structure. I mean her face, is just so beautiful, from every angle, even in these photos in which she is speaking and gesturing.

I’ve never understood WHO considers her a style icon. The material choice for that gown is problematic. After sitting, the front needs to be pressed. It’s not horrible, just not very flattering.

    she’s gorgeous….always is.
and her bo ho chic is hot.
as far as style icon, i don’t know-i think she wears what she feels like, and sometimes it’s kind of clever-but otherwise, it ‘suits her’ personally.

this dress is random, though. it makes her hips and belly look elongated and bloated.

i have to say-when i see her in movies, i always enjoy her performance. and i really could care less if she dated that getty guy when he was married, etc. honestly-i dont know the situation, nor do i know anything about her-she’s too harmless to get riled up about and invest emotion into hating or loving, IMO.

now charlie sheen-that d-bag is someone to get worked up over…getting million plus per episode, spawning children who he won’t be around for, etc. uugh.

I think Sienna is a tacky troll at the best of times, but trying to be objective… this doesn’t suit her at all. I love Stella McCartney, but the cut doesn’t flatter Sienna at all. Could be fantastic on someone, I dunno, less vile.

She’s beautiful. Dress looks like it is on backwards. Maybe this should be more abour Stella’s crap design rather than paying out Sienna.

I really like Donatella. She has really tried to update her look here in the last year.

She soften her hair color… to what I refer to as, Texas County Club Blonde. A really soft pale blonde. She got a great cut and has a nice sweeping bang now. Which to me, has soften her looks. Love the dress she is in too.

Plus she has always given me the “I don’t give a sh*t” vibe. Which I can appreciate. :)

Am I the only bothered by the fact that this selfish superficial tramp was deemed worthy of a humanitarian award? Have we really sunk so low? Really? Who cares what she’s wearing? She’s a horrid homewrecking ho bag.

That is one awful dress… it kind of reminds me of a figure skater’s outfit, with the cheesy sheer panel. Sienna is beautiful though.

Sienna is gorgeous…the dress is hideous. Never have thought much of Stella’s designs. The champagne color of the bodice is beautiful & really goes well with Sienna’s coloring. I feel sorry for Donatella…not sure why.

Sienna: Way too matronly and the color washes her out.

Donatella: revealing a Versace-designed Halloween mask, I see.

I’ve never been overly impressed with Stella McCartney’s designs. It has always seemed to me she is only successful because of who her father is, not because she’s a particularly talented designer. This dress? Exhibit A.

Ms. Miller’s hair and makeup look beautiful, but the dress could not be much more unflattering.

At least she shouldn’t style her hair that way. One suddenly notices the resemblance to Daphne Guiness. Sienna’s Ghost of Christmas future, perhaps?

Stella McCartney couldn’t design a shoe box. Her clothes usually expose too much and/or fall off the body all by themselves.

Whatever about Sienna’s dress – she always cleans up nicely imo. And this is the best I’ve seen Donatella look in a long time. I like seeing her without a tan. Something about her in these photos just looks prettier and softer to me.

  36. Sasha says:

I dont like Sienna Homewrecker Miller. She is so overrated like and actress and a style icon. She has a pretty smile (she doesnt look so good without a smile in her face) and good legs but that’s all. Her fame is because the men she go around and because Harvey y Bob Weinstein wanted her to become a star, but it did not work. She is just one of many blondes that abound in Hollywood

The dress is awful, she looks like an old woman. And she looks like a 40 years old woman, too many drugs sex and alcohol i guess. But Stella is a close friend with Kate Moss and Sadie Frost, so This could be a revenge for her?
