Rihanna wears a bustier to a Christmas tree lighting: appropriate?

Would you like a little tittay with your Christmas tree? These are photos of Rihanna in London last night, doing some kind of Christmas tree lighting ceremony for a mall/shopping center. This is the second bustier Rihanna has worn in a week – so it’s her new “trend” now I guess. Tittays and this dumb Kool-Aid hair.

Considering this event is for families… and considering “the 22-year-old was joined on stage by a group of school children for the moment when she switched on the lights”…are the Christmas boobs appropriate? Or is it like Katy Perry’s Sesame Street boobs, where kids aren’t even conscious of how sexualized the imagery is, just because it’s all so “rainbows and cotton candy and Kool-Aid hair and Christmas!”

I think if its families involved and children will be there then she should have worn something different. Its not like they were at her concert

  2. lilred says:

Looks like she has a boner in that skirt.Lol.

  3. Lin99 says:

I dont see a problem, she looks really cute with the headband…..it’s not like my children haven’t been to the beach and seen alot more skin.

  4. eva says:

The profile of that skirt is hideous.

  5. Kaye says:

Children don’t always process things the way adults do. Our 5-year-old son accidentally viewed a Playboy centerfold. “Mom,” he said in a shocked voice, “she’s not wearing any SHOES.”

  6. Samigirl says:

Definitely NOT appropriate. I doubt she cares though.

  7. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

What a waste of space… Think it throught stupid… They are kids!! Wear something appropriate…

    ***walking away grumbling to myself**

  8. Praise St. Angie! says:

Is the tattoo on her chest backwards so that she can read it in the mirror?

  9. heatheradair says:

when you can match your lipstick to your hair AND your skirt, something’s wack.

  10. Voodoobetty says:

I think its less appropriate that they are lighting a bloody Christmas tree 5 days after Halloween. Jeez, why dont we just start in February next year.

  11. workerbee says:

The bigger question here is “why are they lighting a Christmas Tree this early????”

  12. Toe says:

    Please change the hair color

  13. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Uhh Katy Perry and Rhianna are two very different cups sizes. Katy Perry had boob hanging out from every single direction and that gold thing she was wearing barely covered her nipples. Katy Perry had massive amounts of cleavage. You can’t compare that to Rhianna. One vigorous movement from Katy and her breasts would have been on display for tons of pre-schoolers to see.

This isn’t the best outfit for a Christmas lighting but Rhianna isn’t showing a ton of boob, her breasts are well contained in her garment, there is not really any obscene amounts of cleavage. I think its fine. It shouldn’t have parents worried or kids wondering what are those to massive things on her chest because Rhianna doesn’t have anything massive on her chest.

  14. malachais says:

The real question is “is she ever appropriate?” Her style = “avant garde hoodrat”

  15. ann says:

well it’s her style but I thought she had more class than that.

  16. HotPockets says:

eh. I don’t really find the shirt distasteful, just the hair and her live singing voice.

  17. Delta Juliet says:

@ #5….That is AWESOME! As a mom to a young boy I am totally cracking up at that comment.

Oh, and the hair and outfit are fugly.

  18. Feebee says:

    @ Kaye LOL!

Um, they hired RIHANNA for a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. She’s not Celine Dion, she’s Rihanna, buyer beware. It’s in keeping with her usual style. I don’t think it’s inappropriate for children, they probably just wonder if she’s cold.

  19. Jackson says:

Trashy and fug, same as usual. Oh, and is that her natural hair color?

  20. Chicoulina says:

That skirt is the worst thing I’ve ever seen!!Who’s is it?

  21. Jacquie says:

@ workerbee, that’s exactly what I was thinking. It’s the BEGINNING of NOVEMBER. Not that I don’t love me some Christmas, but seriously, at least wait till the weekend before Thanksgiving.

  22. Bella Mosley says:

Weird skirt, horrible profile. Looks like she rolled Minnie Mouse for the hair bow. Maybe that is her concession for the kids. Inappropriate, she isn’t at the beach or a lingerie party. Anything for attention?
And yes, why lighting already? Could we wait til after Thanksgiving?

  23. craigc says:

She has to be trashy… Or else she looks just like an average chick. Not that hot!

  24. gg says:

She’s really pretty, but she’s copying Katy Perry now. Expect KP to change style now that there’s a clone.

  25. buenavissta says:

OMG Kaye!! That is beautiful and hysterical. Bless the kiddies and their ability to say anything.

  26. jover says:

Avante Garde hoodrat love that malachais. What’s laughable is that this marginally talented tuneless pop tart thinks she’s cool, hip, and edgy and, folks, she’s lighting a christmas tree at a mall/shopping center. Anyone think that back in the day Janis Joplin would have been caught dead doing such a conventional thing; they had authenticity – these pop tarts know they are products and its actions like these that belie their feeble attempts at hipness and edginess. RiRI would collect garbarge in one of her designer duds if that was the only way she could stay in the spotlight a little longer. What a poseur.

  27. Marie says:

What the hell happened to the top of that skirt was there an airbag installed and it went off?

  28. PrettyLights says:

I agree with Love Angelina… Katy Perry’s chest and Rihanna’s are totally different… she’s showing a bit of cleavage but it’s not over the top. Should she have chosen something less trashy for a family event? Sure! But it is Rihanna after all, and I doubt she cares. I also actually don’t hate her hair… she’s beautiful enough to pull it off, and if I had a face like that I might try it too. Final note, I wonder what kind of mascara/falsies she’s wearing. I want eyelashes that long!

  29. telesma says:

No, but when is her attire ever appropriate? If I had to pick a title for her fashion history, it would be “A Series of Unfortunate Events”.

  30. anti says:

it’s too early for a christmas tree lighting!

  31. Mairead says:

I, for once, 100% agree with Love Angelina. I watched it on the news and the top barely registered. Well, other than “Isn’t she cold?”.

That tragedy of a skirt on the other hand…

  32. devilgirl says:

I think Rhianna is actually pretty, when she dresses normal and has the clown look gone. Thisred hair crap she is sporting, has to go.

  33. Crash2GO2 says:

I’m going to be the voice of dissent on her hair here: I actually like the color when it is properly styled.

She could have worn something a little more modest up top, but parents are always free to haul their kids out of there if they think she’s being inappropriate. Actually, I wouldn’t let my daughter within 100 yards of Rihanna. Or Katy Perry for that matter. Easy fix.

  34. sparkledog says:

She is covered a lot more than some shirts with straps…she’s got absolutely no cleavage here…it’s appropriate.

  35. afan says:

She was meeting with Jay-z after the tree lighting, so that’s why she wore what she did.

  36. GG says:

She is disgusting! Why do we cater to and make these morons stars? Please go away ghetto girl! PLEASE! Horrible example for young women. What an ASS!

  37. Megan says:

Rihanna has tiny t*ts, so its ok. That’s probably the only good thing bout having ’em. You can wear almost anything and not really look trashy. I think the skirt is the major problem, that thing is UGH.

  38. Sandy says:

The skirts worse than the bustier. Who styles this woman? Is she kidding? The funniest thing is that the clothes she thinks are edgy look like she bought them at Penny’s without trying them on. And they always fit her wrong or don’t match her figure.

  39. elizabeth says:

That skirt – ugly color (wrong for the grey bustier). The front pockets are a disaster the way they bulge out from her body – that is the problem with having pockets on (tight) skirts and also in having them in the front over her stomach. I used to sew alot and that skirt is just a bad design that was never going to work in the 1st place. Did I dress like that in my ’20’s? Probably – ugh!

  40. MissVJJ says:

She looks like she’s trying to keep up with her image, without being offensive. She doesn’t look bad. And she has the prettiest cupid’s bow ever.

  41. Kimberly says:

She’s never been called a lady you know?

she’s trashy. It’s part of her style and image. She’s not trendy because lots of what she does is recycled and not “new”.

DIDENOTE: I’m so sick of dresses and skirts with pockets. Ya that was cool like 5-7 years ago, but come on!!! Think of something new and quit pretending that pockets on a skirt is innovative!! It was cool when I was in middle school, not anymore!!!!

  42. LaFashionista says:

Reminded me of Donna Summers “SHe works hard for the money” cover photo.

  43. Maybelle says:

Rihanna annoys me. She doesn’t come across as being different… just desperate. Or maybe her tastes in clothes and hair really is just THAT bad.

  44. Kricket says:

ugh. is that bustier made of…fleece? …gag…cough…hack!

  45. abel says:

i personally love this look — i think rihanna looks chic and beautiful. absolutely flawless. [fashion student at fidm]
